[Bug 432743] Re: New desktop users get just white screen with mouse pointer moving

2009-09-20 Thread Oh01
Thanks for the tip on what to attach and how to get it. I take it that you
meant to say
sudo chown OLDUSER /home/OLDUSER/xsession-errors
(note the "s" after the "x" in xsession).

I am attaching the file as requested.

It looks like a display/graphics card/compiz issue. Oddly, this does not
come up for the existing users, and I would not use compiz anyway as it
does not work with the open source ATI graphics drivers. (No, system
would not let me add closed-source drivers even if I try -- a separate
issue?)

Please let me know if I can help in any other way.

[Bug 373865] Re: Evolution crashes with libecal timezone error

2009-09-20 Thread Amy Farrell
I'm seeing the same error and am attaching a backtrace, per the instructions
you cited.
I would suspect the problem stems from a calendar I imported or subscribed to,
since I was doing quite a bit of testing of iCalendar files before I upgraded
to 9.04.

[Bug 373477] Re: Can't save files to Samba (cifs) shares because they report 0 bytes free

2009-09-20 Thread Boris Burtin
I hit this problem too. When DVD Decrypter tries to write to my NAS
share via ~/.gvfs, it keeps complaining that there's no space available.
If I mount the share with "mount -t cifs", DVD Decrypter detects the
amount of free space correctly. It is possible to copy files via
~/.gvfs, but this bug should be fixed, so that applications can
correctly determine the amount of free space on the shared filesystem.

[Bug 433808] [NEW] Patch to add a fuzzy clock

2009-09-20 Thread mascdman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Ubuntu version: 8.10
gnome-panel version: 2.24.1-0ubuntu2.1

I noticed a request on the Ubuntu brainstorm site for a fuzzy clock in
Gnome (http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/6252/) and I wanted one, too.
Attached is a patch to some of the files in gnome-panel's
"applets/clock" directory. There are two issues I haven't addressed:

1.) Blank space after fuzzy clock text:
This is caused by clock_size_request() ignoring requests to resize to smaller
dimensions than are currently used by the clock. As the source mentions, this
prevents a jumping clock when a proportional font is used. If you'd like the
clock to resize, just add "cd->format == CLOCK_FORMAT_FUZZY_HOUR || cd->format
== CLOCK_FORMAT_FUZZY_DAY ||" to the start of the conditions of the two if
statements in that function.

2.) Internationalization:
The text strings used in the fuzzy clocks need to be translated.

I also tweaked the patch so it applies cleanly against Karmic's version
of gnome-panel (2.27.92-0ubuntu4), but I can submit that in a separate
bug report, if preferred.
