Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gthumb Default install, I select File -> Import. It accesses the SD card and successfully displays the content. [Bug 425952] Re: gdm requiring password for guest session
In summary, I think there are three problems here: 1. The guest session does not having locking disabled (see above) (gdm-guest-session) 2. Attempting to open a second guest session from the indicator applet locks that users screen and fails to open the session. It should switch to the already opened session. I see. I found it now. Do you think there is a way of making that obvious to the user? The user could choose between- 1. Yes, show me. (Goes to browser with the url which lists plugins related to X 2. No, not now. (Next time when the user writes the same language, the baloon pops up.) 3. I don't want to know/I already know. [Bug 236740] [NEW] ACPI lid switch support on a Thinkpad T61 problem
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a T61 with Ubuntu 8.04. I use an external monitor connected to the VGA output. I turn the laptop monitor off using the xrandr command. My screensaver kicks in after 5 mins and the screen(s) turn off after 15 mins. If I close the laptop lid both screens will turn off. I would like the external VGA to stay on and close the laptop lid. I went to System->Preferences->Power Management->On AC Power->Actions and set the"When laptop lid is closed" option to "Do nothing". That fixed half the problem. Now if I close the lid the external monitor stays on. But the screensaver will dimm the monitor off but will never display the screensaver. If at that moment I open the lid the screensaver will start showing on the VGA, and if I close the lid it goes back to black. The monitor will never shutdown or go to standby mode. The fact that I turn the laptop LCD of with xrandr makes no difference. It seems like the option to do nothing when closing the lid is not consistent too all processes that depend on it. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ACPI lid switch support on a Thinkpad T61 problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236740 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

RE: [Bug 370535] Re: won't open tar.gz in 9.04
It transpires that the problem is to do with the mobile broadband that many of us now use. Its compression methods are what mangled the files, though I have now moved from Vodafone ot T-mobile with none of the symptoms. You can close the bug I filed. Thanks.
