Re: [Bug 498011] Re: re-mounting a remote windows shared folder after a sleep fails
Well. I wanted to be as clean as possible, and I restarted my computer. Now I cannot reproduce the error : I access without any issue to the folder by re-cliking it in the network exploration mode and using the shortcut created, after sleeps. in this experiment, sleeps lasted just few seconds, and I checked the connection by connecting to google. last time, I read your post before trying to re-mount as you were asking, and I obtained the error I described. (I was connected) I will myself go to sleep now, and try again later to confirm you the bug, if any. [Bug 249375] Re: I cannot empty my wastebin folder
Elliot, please don't assign bugs to other people. In order to delete the files on your flash drive for a hidden folder on the drive that starts with .Trash (e.g. .Trash-1000 or .Trash-username). To show hidden files in nautilus, do CTRL+H or go to View-Show Hidden Files. You can delete the files out of here - if it complains that you don't have permission, use sudo from the terminal. For example: sudo rm /media/disk/.Trash-1000/somefile.txt If that doesn't work, what error are you getting? ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Assignee: Connor Imes (rocket2dmn) = (unassigned) -- I cannot empty my wastebin folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 498425] [NEW] Rhythmbox Musicplayer won't extract tracks from CD to library
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Ubuntu 8.10 Gnome Desktop 2.24.1 Rhythmbox 0.11.6 Insert just purchased CD and trying to extract tracks to library. Device comes up with the correct CD name. The track window comes up with the correct track names. I select the tracks to extract, press the extract icon and an error box comes up saying: Error transferring track no element lame The only option is to close the error box. After closing, and rebooting and retrying the extraction, an error comes up indicating that the extraction was completed - it asks if I want to overwrite the existing file. If I say Yes, the musicplayer application closes itself. If I say No, it doesn't close the application, but it didn't extract the files either. I checked the library folder and there are file names for all of the tracks of the CD I was trying to extract, but they are all file size zero. This option used to work, but it seems that one of the last Ubuntu updates broke it. unfortunately, I don't know which one, because it's been at least 6 months since I last had reason to use the extract function. Re: [Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message
With trepidation I plugged my brand new Nikon D5000 into my Ubuntu 9.10 equipped laptop this morning to download the first pictures taken with the camera. Great was my relief when a window popped up offering to open F-spot or a folder. It thus seems that the issue is resolved for my current camera/laptop combination. It also seems that this is a problem that still must be solved. Getting an error message when plugging in a digital camera into a USB port is like getting an error message when trying to send e-mail. It is a function that is simply expected to work perfectly on all personal computing equipment today. 2009/12/16 James jim.wark...@gmail.com I have also found this to be a problem with a fresh install of Karmic. I have a Canon Powershot S1IS and when I plug it in via USB I see the following: 1. New icon appears on the desktop with camera name as if it is a mounted drive. 2. gThumb importer pops up with error message An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'): Camera is already in use. 3. Desktop icon disappears 4. Error remains and I can't import the photos. In order to resolve this, I am able to go into the import settings by clicking on the camera icon on the importer. I then select my camera and click 'OK'. It will then successfully connect to the camera, and allow me to download the photos. -- Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285682 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285682 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 395299] Re: gdm 2.26 has no graphical configuration tool
The status of this bug may be changed back to whatever the maintainers of gdm think is appropriate, but please have an individual do it and please read below first. I do not see a reason to have a different status in this bug then in the upstream bug (which is currently set at NEW). This bug affects many Ubuntu users and should not be closed so quickly simply because a 2 option radio button utility was created to fill an urgent need. As I do not want to seem negative concerning the matter and I would like to be constructive and help others, as you have requested, Sebastien, one (or more) bug report(s) for each feature that was lost by moving over to the new gdmsetup in karmic, they can be found below (contact me if I have missed any features): # Install/Change the GDM Theme # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/449198 # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blubuntu-look/+bug/442408 # Change the GDM welcome message # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/498431 # Turn on remote login (XDMCP) # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/408417 # Allow TCP logins to Xserver # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/498434 # Enable multiple logins for a single user (used for concurrent VNC) # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/498435 # Change login sounds # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/437429 # Remove Shutdown/Reboot option form actions menu # https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/498436 That being said, I think this bug should depend on all these other bugs coming to a resolution. Sebastien, please feel free contact me so that we may discuss the future of these issues. Other people who are having these issues, please restrain from commenting on this bug and go to the individual issue which affects you above and mark it as affecting you by clicking on This bug affects # people.
