I mean: everything worked fine on 32-bit until I reinstalled 64-bit. Also I can't seem to boot any -pae kernels under 64-bit. I have downloaded the time table (pdf file) of the Prague bus 165 (http://jrportal.dpp.cz/jrportal/LineList.aspx?t=3mi=5n=1lc=165d=2010-01-04) in Firefox and it was opened by Document Viewer. It looked well including special Czech character. But when I selected the text by mouse, some Czech characters were missing. Like 'ř', 'š' etc. For example Přístav Radotín looked like 'P ístav Radotín' when selected etc. It seem that some fonts are missing and it is all but I think things like this should work automatically on Ubuntu. I've run synaptic to make sure I have the latest of everything related to apport, but it still does nothing for me. I'm so frustrated because I have to boot into Windoze to watch my movies. I just had a very similar problem. gedit was consuming 100% CPU usage every time I started it. I tried removing the config file with no improvement. I then found this bug report and investigated the side pane file browser. This was pointing at a point in the dvb source tree. When I changed this to point elsewhere, the cpu usage reduced to 10% or less. I did not try a reboot before finding the work-around described here. I am using Ubuntu 9.10. Implementing it also requires gpm-session.c to be changed, because the term inhibited is limited to the concept of session timeouts there. I tried to implement it but unfortunately, it didn't work. But to clarify, when a CD is inserted, the Unknown which used to appear, before the upgrade ran, doesn't appear, and that seems to be the problem, in that when I clicked on it, before, the tracks showed up and then played just fine. Now nothing shows up and there's nothing to click on and so it's not usable. What would make it change from functional to dysfunctional is what baffles me. [Bug 231208] [NEW] Up and Down Ubuntu Taskbar disapperance after evolution complete removal
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have completly removed evolution with the ubuntu synaptic package manager (and all associated pakages) to install thunderbird but after rebooting ubuntu (and before installing thunderbird) no taskbar were loaded. Several reboot have not changed anything. So I have re-installed ubuntu once again, do the same evolution uninstall and again, the same problem happened. I have not yet test a simple evolution uninstall (not completly) or uninstall only the main package. He probado ya en otras maquinas y el rollo se repite English: Setting up a new panel, put it on top (i don't know if in other position work), under the default panel (where is the menu) and set the auto-hide option. When click on Ok the system crash and is not possible to use gnome. Only with gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel is possible to use gnome. Evince fails to display DVI documents that contain an AMS symbol: in my case
\Box with the message DVI document has incorrect format. Other viewers
(okular, xdvi) open the dvi file in question fine, conversion to pdf also
works. Evince opens other dvi files without problems. Example of source that

Yes, thank you, I compared the two screenshots, and yes, absolutely, the item Devices has never appeared on the left-hand menu, when the CD is inserted; nothing at all happens. It baffles me, because the system or whatever does it, maybe the right word is driver (?) I don't really speak the language much yet, though I'm trying to learn, anyway the CD being inserted, now that I've installed Banshee, does show up as an item in the Banshee application, and everything now works, with Banshee, just as it used to work in Rhythmbox, before the upgrade. But it still doesn't phase Rhythmbox one iota. ;-) Why on earth that would happen is a mystery to me, which isn't saying much! I hope this is helpful, since if this is something others may have a problem with, it's worth figuring it out.
