[Bug 514189] [NEW] Paste bufer malfunction (double insert)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit Description:Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 gedit Version 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 Hello, I have a problem which is a little bit hard to replicate but bear with me as I do not know which factors really are important. 1. Open a more than 2k plaintext-file (I happen to have this bug with php/html-files but I guess it does not matter). 2. Open a write-protected .doc-file in OpenOffice (it must - think - have some styles other than default). 3. Copy a number of words (multiple lines possible) which include utf-8-characters (for example a letter with acute or an umlaut) to the clipboard. 4. select about 20 characters in your gedit file which are not at the beginning or the end of a line (some words in the middle) 5. use ctrl+v to paste It now should have replaced the selected text. Sometimes it doesn't. If it did, press ctrl+z for undo and press ctrl+v again. Do net press other keys like to cursor-keys and do not reselect the text. Repeat until a ctrl+v operation does not do the standard paste. Now you can move the cursor around and even write some letters. Press ctrl+v again and it will paste your clipboard-text two times. The rate of pasting and undoing has nothing to do with the bug as it can also happen on the first paste. This is just to replicate. Also I noted: When the paste does not happen, you can select new text and press ctrl+c and it will directly paste the newly copied text after the original one without pressing ctrl+v. I think it is important that you copy from a rich-text field but I am really not sure. I think it does not matter, but I am using a dual monitor configuration (only one x-session). I hope you can replicate this bug as it is really annoying (especially when you paste much stuff from OOo to html-files). ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Paste bufer malfunction (double insert) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB flash key (pendrive) are slowing down with time
Update After 10 Gbyte transfer to sd card speed is down again. Scheduler fix is not enought for me. May be it would help for someone - http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8653721postcount=29 yes its fixed, but not in the 2.6.31 kernel branch. I experienced the same problem you described when trying to copy files from my internal hard disk to either a usb external hard disk or a usb thumbdrive. the speed would start at about 30 MB/s then quickly drop down to 5 MB/s and sometimes get down to even 1.5 MB/s. I thought it was pretty funny that i could download files from the Internet at 2.6 MB/s but couldnt even transfer them via usb that fast. It also spiked my CPU and caused my wifi to hang and disconnect as well. Last night I installed the Linux 2.6.33RC3 kernel from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...e/v2.6.33-rc3/ I ran some tests and found that my USB file transfers ran at full speed and did not drop like before. [Bug 513346] Re: MSN connection does not work: Network error
Aaaa, PPA, ok thanks. I've tried, the result is same, just as I can see, the UI is a bit redesigned :) But it says the same: network error. If I open the account settings dialog, I see a red area saying: Disconnected - Network Error. What is a bit odd, that in settings (advanced) I see: Server: messenger.hotmail.com Port: 0 Port 0 sounds a bit odd for me, but it seems it's the default, since I've even tried to re-create the MSN account inside empathy now. And it seems I can't even edit it, well I can (I've tried 1863, afaik it should be the right port number), but after closing the window it says port 0 again. Or is it normal, just some UI glitch? I'm glad to see a fix has been committed, apparently to both the text and graphics rendering problems. Just for the record, I don't know what happens in poppler behind the scenes, but is the same process used to render both Type 3 fonts and graphics? If not, I'm confused why this text rendering bug is the same bug as the one I submitted, 248355, which is about anti-aliasing scanned black-and -white graphics, not fonts. [Bug 514298] [NEW] users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools When I scroll through the user list, the listbox resizes. This looks _extremely_ unprofessional and ought to be fixed. What's even more interesting is that it does it needlessly. I scroll onto root from my own account and it gets wider (!). Another thing, the symmetry on the right is nice, but it's really not good for naming. Instead of Edit for all three (not very specific), put 'Rename' for the name and 'Change' for the other two. The first has no label so it's not clear what it is initially, and there's no such thing as 'editing' an Account Type, since it's a list of options not a big, configurable thing. One could argue for editing a password, but nobody uses English that way, they say 'change my password'. Also, 'Help' and 'Close' are a few pixels squished in from the sides and don't align with anything else. It looks weird. :) ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: users-admin -- users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 18351] Re: [users-admin] Edit groups for user properties
Yes, this needs to exist. One benefit we have is that Debian uses usergroups, so groups of a particular user could be available just as a list, and then an 'Advanced' rollout that would be hidden by default (_unless_ the user's group is not of the same name) which would talk about primary group. This would seem very natural. If you still wanted to do the 'Permissions', that could be separate, and the group editing could hide those by default. Still, one way or another it needs to happen. Very awkward to edit right now, *especially* because groups aren't even alphabetized. -- [users-admin] Edit groups for user properties https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 514298] Re: users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox
If you want to provide a full UI review, a message to our mailing list would be more appropriate I guess. For now: I think I'll change Edit to Change, I was misled by the French translation into thinking it was the right term (actually this is a stock GTK+ button). The alignment problem for Help and Close is known, but I'm not sure how I can fix this, since that box is normally automatically configured by GTK+. I'll see what we can do, but obviously that's not top priority since that can be change at any time without risks - better get the tools working right first. So I'll keep that report to tackle the resizing issue. I suspect the list isn't getting wider when you select root, but rather the main part of the window is getting wider when you select your own account. I know this can happen when labels get wider than the default, which mainly depends on your locale. Could you provide screenshots of both situations? BTW, this has changed in the latest upstream code, so that may not behave the same now. ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
