[Bug 510059] Re: Gvfs keeps asking for password when trying to mount Samba share

2010-02-11 Thread bozackt
I agree with Stephen. This is *not* a low importance bug. Things like
this are exactly what keeps Linux/Ubuntu from being widely adopted.
Linux needs to play effortless with Windows, but this is a show stopper.
It needs to be fixed.

[Bug 519428] Re: Gnometris responds very slowly

2010-02-11 Thread madbiologist
>From looking at the attached XsessionErrors.txt, it seems that Gnometris
is using Clutter, and that something is going wrong with GLX
acceleration. Please attach the following to this bug report:

1) The output of lspci -vvnn
2) The output of glxinfo (note that you will need to install the mesa-utils
package for this to work).

Also tell us which video driver (and it's version) you are using, if
known.

Does glxgears run reasonably well? (You will need to install the mesa-
utils package for this to work).

[Bug 520828] [NEW] Running instance of Evince keeps using the old location of a document when it was already copied elsewhere

2010-02-11 Thread Onderstekop
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I love Evince, but this has bit me several times:

  * directly open a .ps.tar or similar from Firefox, which starts the archive
manager
  * open the .ps in the archive, which starts Evince
  * read a couple of pages from the document and click "Save a Copy" in the
file menu.
  * do something else
  * close the archive manager
  * procrastinate some more
  * come back to Evince, which suddenly can't load any more pages that weren't
already seen although I had already saved a copy, because the archive manager
removed the document in /tmp and Evince is still using that location.

I see how this wouldn't happen to me if I never closed the archive
manager or if I properly saved the archive, unpacked and then later
moved the document to my paper stash and deleted the archive.. but
wouldn't it be nicer to start reading pages from a copy, when it has
explicitly been saved?

Not sure about the duplicate status. As I said, resume works perfectly
(except for the occasional kernel panic) if I suspend from the menu or a
virtual terminal. It's only when I suspend by closing my laptop lid that
the screen is blank on resuming. The network light blinks as if it's
invisibly connecting.

[Bug 423694] Re: session active, not inhibited, screen idle message

2010-02-11 Thread Chris Coulson
I don't know if everybody here is experiencing the same issue, but I
found a race in gpm that might cause this issue for some people (it
causes it for me). I've reported it upstream and sent a patch there
which fixes it too

[Bug 520777] [NEW] Cancel button misleading when changing Desktop Effects

2010-02-11 Thread Nanley Chery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Background:
In the Visual Effects tab of Appearance Preferences, when switching from "None"
to {Normal or Extra} a dialog appears saying "searching for available
drivers..."

Problem:
The cancel button on this dialog does not cancel the change to another mode,
instead it just skips the search for proper graphics drivers.

Resolution:
1. Rename the Cancel button to Skip
2. Add a "real" Cancel button that stops the change to a different mode
(optional)

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10

[Bug 30969] Re: monitor suspends regardless of gnome-power-manager timeouts

2010-02-11 Thread bpan123
I have this problem too.
Someone (on ubuntu forum) suggested adding [xset s off] (to /sys/prefs/startup)
which has stopped the monitor power-down, but g-s-s still doesn't enable the
screensaver.
g-p-m appears to be running.

- Atom230 (Intel D945GCLF) 1GB, WD1600BEVSRTL (160GB 2.5"), atheros 5k
compatible wireless PCI card), HP DVD-RAM.
- Only variant is that monitor is attached through a KVM switch. No problems
with Keyboard and Mouse...

This was a clean install with all hardware attached at startup.
Still wondering what causes this... can't be so difficult to reproduce?

[Bug 480829] Re: Create folder button higlights / clicks / selects first item in directory

2010-02-11 Thread rot13
Further testing reveals that the bug:

- is not ubuntu specific. I can reproduce it on other distributions.
- is not fixed in the 2.18.6 version of gtk+ (latest stable)
- is fixed in current git

Bisecting points to this commit that fixes the bug:

commit 105e6fbc11dbc37a6b863b766b878cad1c63b969
Author: Benjamin Otte
Date: Tue Jun 30 23:17:26 2009 +0200

Use the GtkTreeSortable of the filesystem model

Previously, there was a GtkTreeSortModel wrapped around the filesystem
model to make it sortable. As the new implementation implements the
GtkTreeSortable interface, we can use this instead.

[Bug 520717] Re: Nautilus crashes/asserts/segfaults on folder containing a bad image.

2010-02-11 Thread Bruno Girin
I can confirm EOG crashing when opening the image but when trying to
open it with ImageMagick I get the following result:

$ display COLONY.PIK.tga
display: Memory allocation failed `COLONY.PIK.tga' @ tga.c/ReadTGAImage/287.

This is then followed by a default ImageMagick window and an error
dialogue that says: improper image header '/home/bruno/Downloads' @
gif.c/ReadGIFImage/1013 (see attached screenshot)

So it looks like there's something wrong with the image file. EOG should
not crash though. If anybody can suggest how to debug this further, it
would be much appreciated.

[Bug 502707] Re: evince does not print page subsets

2010-02-11 Thread Bryce Harrington
I see you have libcairo2 1.8.8-2ubuntu1 and are on amd64. I also had a
printing issue with that combination, but it was solved by enabling the
karmic-updates repo and installing version 1.8.8-2ubuntu1.1. I would
suggest trying that.

[Bug 461918] Re: Evince fails to print this PDF

2010-02-11 Thread Bryce Harrington
I can confirm after upgrading from libcairo2 1.8.8-2ubuntu1 to
1.8.8-2ubuntu1.1 it went from not printing to printing.

$ apt-cache policy libcairo2
libcairo2:
  Installed: 1.8.8-2ubuntu1.1
  Candidate: 1.8.8-2ubuntu1.1

Thanks! At least for me, the issue seems resolved now.

Re: [Bug 508890] Re: Nautilus crashes when there are multiple XScreens

2010-02-11 Thread Flávio Etrusco
Too bad neither 'gdm' nor 'gnome-session' have packages for debug symbols.
Anyway dual screen setup isn't that great with metacity/gtk either
(e.g. no easy way to move from screen to another), and I finally got
the panels to work on dual-monitor single-screen setup. The only
annoying part is applications and dialogs' positions...

[Bug 520656] [NEW] nokia 6220 clasic videos as unknowns in rhythmbox

I connected my nokia 6220 to my computer using a usb cable and set the
phone to multimedia transfer. I then opened Rhythmbox to transfer some
music to the phone. It said there wasn't enough room or an error had
occurred . I then checked the phone content via Rhythmbox and saw a
bunch of unknown files that wouldn't play. So I deleted them. YES! this
is all my fault. But I lost some dear movies from my phone and I feel
sad about that. So now I'm writhing this in the hope that someone with
deeper knowledge then me in this subject will fix it so that the videos
don't show up in rhythmbox at all or as playable videos so that no one
else will repeat my sad mistake.

Thank you that was all ;(

[Bug 183514] Re: seahorse-agent stops responding when started with gpg-agent
