[Bug 494313] Re: Incorrect message "Low Disk Space" on Ubuntu 9.10
Using Ubuntu 9.10. Since there is already a good description of the problem, I'll keep it short and clear: Same problem with me. I have separate mount points for /, /home and /tmp. In /home I have about 5GB free. When I download a big file (for example the alternative Ubuntu CD) on the desktop I get a warning that I have less than 1.9GB free disk space. I looked in Gparted (refreshed the data a couple of time just to make sure), while having this message in front of me, and all I can see is that I have a little bit more than 4GB. I also checked with the Disk Analyzer - same thing there. -- Incorrect message "Low Disk Space" on Ubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Attached is a backtrace, more or less generated by the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash. As gdb debugging nautilus ignored my control + c commands, I scraped the information out of ddd. (Fortunately, gdb running in ddd did respond to control + c.) I asked Google for a better way, but I had no joy with anything I found, even from Stack Overflow. I know that there is a way to interrupt or control gdb while it is running besides control + c, but I am clueless as to how to do so. Can anyone tell me how, besides RTFM? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel http://library.gnome.org/users/user-guide/2.29/windowlist.html.en The various help documents and the preferences window for the window list panel applet both state that "Restore to current workspace Select this option to restore a window from the applet to the current workspace, even if the window did not previously reside in the current workspace." But that is not in fact what happens. Whether I choose "restore to current workspace" or "restore to native workspace" what I get is "restore to native workspace." What I'd like is "restore to current workspace" but it doesn't work. I did notice some triaged and won't fix comments associated with another bug (#216049) that described a behavior where "restore to current workspace" was doing nothing at all. [Bug 591498] [NEW] gnome-screenshot appears to free image copied to clipboard if cancel subsequently clicked
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-utils Steps to reproduce this issue in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 1. Start gnome-screenshot 2. Click "Copy to Clipboard" 3. Click "Cancel" to dismiss the dialog. 4. Start OpenOffice Writer (as an example of another app to paste the image on the clipboard). Within this application, attempt to paste the image in (Edit -> Paste). 5. The Application will segfault (i.e. tail /var/log/messages) Jun 9 10:11:14 IT040035 kernel: [ 906.571706] soffice.bin[1888]: segfault at 2ae05e9 ip 02ae05e9 sp b356c1a0 error 4 in libsvxli.so[2b82000+31a000] Notes A. If the steps are repeated without Step 3 then the fault does not occur. B. It should be possible to dismiss the gnome-screenshot dialog after an image is copied to the clipboard. There doesn't appear to be any other way to do so without clicking "Cancel" (the only other options are Save and Help). I would therefore argue that "Copy to Clipboard" followed by "Cancel" is a legitimate use. (Suggestion: Why not change "Cancel" to "Close" after "Copy to Clipboard" is used - this would be more intuitive.) At the very least, the image should not be freed on the clipboard (which is what I suspect is happening here). C. I suspect that this should be forwarded upstream - if someone on the Ubuntu team could first please check and confirm this issue then I would be happy to do so. ** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-screenshot appears to free image copied to clipboard if cancel subsequently clicked https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591498 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 591490] [NEW] power-applet has no "on battery" tab after start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Hello, I experience a strange bug on my notebook, since I upgraded to 10.04 amd64. When I boot up, the Power-Applet does not recognize the battery. No "On battery" tab is shown. The Applet always shows the "On AC" Symbol. The notebook also does not recognize when the battery reaches a critical level. The notebook shuts down hard. If I log out and log back in, the battery Applet works like it is supposed to. It shows the current battery stage and offers the "on battery" tab to change the preferences. It also helps to unplug the Battery, while connected to the AC. Once the battery is plugged in it is recognized and everything works fine. I have checked whether this is an ACPI Problem. But "cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info" always shows the correct informations. If you need further information, I will be happy to provide them. I hope you can help me.. [Bug 591492] [NEW] Cannot prepend user-defined dir to XDG_CONFIG_DIRS
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm This is a wishlist item, filed against gdm 2.30.0-0ubuntu5 in Ubuntu Lucid. I use the Xubuntu desktop. XDG_CONFIG_DIRS is set in /etc/X11/Xsession.d /60xdg_path-on-session (a file provided by gdm) to "/etc/xdg/xdg- xubuntu:/etc/xdg" (if I haven't set X_D_G myself beforehand). What I want to do, however, is set it to something like "$HOME/.my- xdg:/etc/xdg/xdg-xubuntu:/etc/xdg". That is, I want to prepend my own directory to the variable. (The idea is to start with my preferred default settings with an empty ~/.config directory, when I'm starting a brand-new user account. I do this at every new Ubuntu release, and it's less work to hand-maintain some cut-down config files in ~/.my-xdg/ than to go through all the GUI widgets necessary to set my desired settings every six months.) The problem is that, short of using your own ~/.xsession file, there is no way to do this. You can't set/tweak X_D_G accordingly in ~/.profile or ~/.xsessionrc, because those are read before 60xdg_path-on-session. And you can't change what 60xdg_path-on-session does, unconditionally adding the /etc/xdg/... directory as the very first element. This makes it basically infeasible for a user to take advantage of a very useful aspect of the XDG Base Directory system. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot prepend user-defined dir to XDG_CONFIG_DIRS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I reinstalled those ones and additionally libgnome2 and tomboy. The config files are now ok and there is less syslog messages. Unfortunately the clock applet still fails. Re: [Bug 18572] Re: modem_applet: waitpid()'s return value causes wedging.
I've obtained gnome-applets_2.30.0.orig.tar.gz and gnome-applets_2.30.0-0ubuntu2.diff which I think are 10.04's. The original code is as above when I opened the bug although the line numbers are slightly different. The diff doesn't change them in any way. 12_modem_applet_waitpid_fix.patch still applies OK with an offset of -15 lines. So the problem remains in the code. My concern over the patch remains, detailed in #3 above. waitpid() is clearly being wrongly used. That can be fixed without further test results. Hi, Pedro Now I'm not able to reproduce it, but it happened in 2 different machines. Both machines have been update to Lucid from Karmic recently. To solve the problem, I was seeking in bug database, and I found a similar bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/445435 In this bug, the user solves the problem changing the theme. Then I change my theme to ClearLook, and it begins to work. Now I change the theme to original Ambiance or Radiance, but I cannot reproduce the bug again. [Bug 462419] Re: evince apparmor profile prevents movies from opening
At this time AppArmor does not support per-user profiles, but this is a desired feature. If there are bugs in the profile (gmplayer was mentioned), these bugs need to be filed in Launchpad so that they can be corrected. Since this bug was not already reported, I have done so in bug #591421 and already committed a fix for it. Adrian et al, the philosophy behind apparmor profiles in Ubuntu is to have the profiles just work in default and common configurations and not have the user have to worry about them generally. As mentioned, if there are specific examples of things that should be added to the profile, please file a bug so a developer can fix it. Adrian, removing the apparmor package is not recommended. There are many profiles protecting you system that are not causing you any trouble. If the evince profile is causing you problems, then you may simply disable it by performing: $ sudo touch /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.evince -- evince apparmor profile prevents movies from opening https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462419 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
