Haven't had the problem since.

2010-06-28 Thread Anton Zaviyalov
I think there is a problem with different character encodings. I'd
like to say when I moved icq contact (his nick contained cyrillic
symbols) from one group to another, symbols in nick changed. Cyrillic
symbols from cp1251 were replaced by western symbols from cp1252.
Thanks a lot!

[Bug 589194] Re: Mavericks Evince doesn't start

2010-06-28 Thread Didier Roche
That's because you mix lucid and maverick in your source.list!

Please, do not mix that as the packaging has diverged (lucid-proposed
got another verson which was installed there) and stick with maverick
repository only. That explains why you had this invalid bug reopened,
you won't have it otherwise.

Re: [Bug 589194] Re: Mavericks Evince doesn't start

2010-06-28 Thread Muelli
Hey,

On 28.06.2010 09:33, Didier Roche wrote:
That's because you mix lucid and maverick in your source.list!

Well. I've also pinned packages from the maverick repository to a lower
priority. Which, at least for the people I deal with, is quite a normal
thing to do. And it rarely caused problems, except for bug 459977 (which
funnily enough was a packaging problem in Evince, too). But that was,
rightfully so, fixed.

So I am quite surprised that the Evince package is the only one so far,
that causes troubles although it worked (almost) flawlessly for years.

Cheers,
  Tobi

[Bug 589194] Re: Mavericks Evince doesn't start

2010-06-28 Thread Didier Roche
There was simply some files not in the right package for lucid and we
don't want to change the packaging in a stable release. Hence the fact
you either stick with evince related package in maverick or take all
from lucid, but don't mix box of them and downgrade/upgrade.

[Bug 580961] Re: unzip fails to deal correctly with filename encodings

2010-06-28 Thread Vladimir Mityukov
It seems to me (or, maybe, I've missed it) that nobody mentioned an
option to manually select the charset for filenames in the archive. This
option can be added e.g., to Archive Manager and so on (DE-specific
tools).

I understand, that auto-detection is highly desired, but it's quite
problematic, as far as I can see in this ticket. On the other side, I'm
pretty sure, that manual selection option _itself_ would solve the
problem for 60%+ of users. Others would find solutions (involving this
new charset selector) over Internet. Currently, there are no answers
(except of using windows/wine for un[re]packing, or quite complex
approaches, like fuse-zip) even for advanced users, which I think is too
bad.
