All users accounts I have tried this with have the same problem. I created a new account just now, even for that user screensaver did not accept the password. User could log back in to the locked session by switch user and login from graphical login screen. I installed the latest version of Evolution 2.30.2 . The bug is still present. I attached a edited screenshot to explain how to reproduce the bug. Possibly 2 or 3 different bugs. Method 1: drag a contact from one folder to the ubuntu one folder. - result contact is not copied, no error warning / message. Method 2: Right click a contact in a contact folder and choose copy (or move) to and select the ubuntu one folder. - result. error message as show in the screenshot. Thank you for that hint. Although I do not intend to change to Lucid yet, I like to inform that since approx. 2-3 weeks the reported bug also disappeared on my version. I always continued doing updates for ubuntu 9.10 and I think it was resolved after I got a bunch of updates inluding kernel 2.6.31.22. This is occurring on facebook. It is not a firefox, the same behavior happens in chrome. I believe the issue is in the file chooser which I think is part of nautilus. It appears someone else had this bug reported #172860 and it was closed stating it wasn't a bug. Hm, that didn't work , probably because you didn't provide a PID. I was silly, since you're on Lubuntu, gnome-settings-daemon isn't running. So start users-admin, get its PID using 'pidof users-admin', and replce $PID with this value in the command. BTW, you can paste command outputs directly here. In this case they were too long because there was an error, so you could just have told that the manual page was shown. [Bug 601410] [NEW] DVD-RAM bug seems to hang gvfs

I am currently experiencing some problems with DVD-RAM media under ubuntu lucid lynx, and I was wondering if you might recognize some of the behaviour as being normal, or a bug. What I do is insert a disk, then issue `mkudffs --media-type=dvdram --utf8 /dev/sr0` and then `mount /media/cdrom0`. All seems to go well and I get an entry that shows up as: /dev/sr0 on /media/cdrom0 type udf (rw,nosuid,nodev,utf8,user=dan) At this point, I tried a simple copy of the linux git repository (~850mb), but 3 hours later it is still copying. With other small test writes, I also noticed that when I issue a umount, the command blocks for maybe 10 seconds, then returns, yet the drive light appears to continue to be writting for at least 5 minutes past the umount. At that point it starts spiking a nice'd load or something, on one of the cores of my system to 100% and stays there until I eject the disk. The problem is that ejecting the disk seems to mess up the copy as well. And even after I eject, the load stays at 100% on one core. Correct me if I am wrong, but absolutely nothing should be writting to any device after a umount, no? Anyways, until I can track down exactly what might be interfering with the writes, I would love to hear back on if I am just doing something incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Actually, it's completely the contrary of what you said. ;-) The button doesn't seem to check for PolicyKit authorizations when activated by keyboard, while it does when clicked using the mouse. So in your case this *appears* to work when you press Space, but it actually fails silently. The keyboard should also refuse to change this when you're not authenticated, by presenting you an authentication dialog. Thank you for that hint. Although I do not intend to change to Lucid yet, I like to inform that since approx. 2-3 weeks the reported bug also disappeared on my version. I always continued doing updates for ubuntu 9.10 and I think it was resolved after I got a bunch of updates inluding kernel 2.6.31.22. It seems that if I manually mkfs.ext2 (or whatever) the drive and mount it manually, everything is just fine. That being said, perhaps it would be nice to have ubuntu treat DVD-RAM disks specially and prompt the user to format it with a real filesystem and mount it accordingly? Similar problem here, I was not able to use touchpad-/mouseclicks e.g. in Save as- and Scale layer-windows. The solution for me was to set the mode of all devices to disabled in the extended input devices options, only device working in window-mode is the Wacom Graphire4 stylus. You see, after installing Tracker I now get often hundreds of search results for a simple search in Nautilus, when I for example search for a single file using some character string on it's name. I may know that there's only one file with that specific string in it's name, but unfortunately the string often exists inside quite a many of the tens of thousands of documents in my home folder. The apparent reason for this bahaviour is that after installing Tracker Nautilus is using it for searching. There seems to be no way in Nautilus to change how the search is done. You can tell Tracker not to index contents of the files at all, but you can't choose to search for file contents only when you need to. Pedro, Thanks for your feedback. I had previously ran the 64-bit version of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx but due to so many issues I switched to the 32-bit version (after 3 months of trying). I continue to work on enhancing my 100% LINUX computer with apps but only keep apps where I have resolved the quirks for stable operation and proper functionality. I update my software regularily with Update Manager. Bottom line, I am now able to play all my movies with Totem Movie Player for the 32-bit but never with the 64-bit. In the future (LTS 2012), I will retry using the 64-bit version to take advantage of the Intel i7-860 CPU, but for now I will stick with the 32-bit. The 64-bit was too much of a headache to continue with. Again, thanks - I continue to learn about LINUX and like it more all the time. My next step in using gPodder with my iPod and using Skype. Every program I use seems to have quirks that require ironing out. Keep up the good work. Once I gain enough experience I will start helping out the LINUX community.
