[Bug 535097] Re: Power Manager Brightness not clickable
Thank you Ali! ... for me (Dell Inspiron 1525n) the ...ppa3 package slider works much better and I would consider it usable. Yet when playing with it (i.e. Dragging) sometimes the dragging state gets confused and the slider follows the mouse even though the mouse button has been released. Playing further will toggle back up expected behavior. I haven't been able to figure out what click/motion combination will trigger/toggle the behavior. To me this is acceptable but I think for a polished desktop experience (i.e. to bridge the chasm) this still needs to be fixed by someone. [Bug 576751] Re: wnck-applet has memory leak
I've been using Ubuntu 10.04 for a month now (I decided to switch to Linux completely after several experiments). The experience I had a a user with Ubuntu 10.04 would have been great if it wasn't for this memory leak. I could see through the system monitor the memory used for wnck-applet growing higher by the hour. After 10 hours of use or more, it ofter reached at least 1Go of memory for wkck-applet alone. Without including the high use of SWAP memory. Basically, it resulted in Ubuntu crashing every one or two days. Which means that in one month with Ubuntu I had more crashes than two years with Vista. I disabled the autohide fonction of the bottom panel, which seemed to improve the situation a little. But the memory leak problems are far from being solved. And this autohide fonction is very convenient, so I'm unhappy with this temporary fix. [Bug 605290] Re: Unplug, replug AC on laptop, screen pulses, battery indicator not updated, power statistics and preferences screens unavailable
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: acpi-support Steps to reproduce: Laptop (Dell Inspiron 2200 with an after-market AC adapter) 1) unplug AC power 2) replug AC power Resulting symptoms: Frequently (probably 70% of the time) 1) Pulsing, Flashing, beating, flickering display (looks like the brightness level is popping up and down rapidly at about 133 beats per minute) . My workaround is -- use the Fn Arrow Down keys to manually turn down the brightness to minimum then i can't see the pulsing, though if I turn it back up then I can see it again. 2) The battery indicator still shows battery as discharging. 3) The battery indicator's Power Statistics (usually accessed by clicking battery status on popdown menu) and Preferences screen are unavailable. If you click on the battery status area you can see a faintly visible 3D outline of a transparent dialog box the size of the normal popdown menu item, but no item is visible). 4) results of upower --dump cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state and cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/AC/state sometimes match what the battery indicator displays and sometimes not. This is what leads me to think it is some kind of acpi event or other power event not being properly processed on a deeper level than just the gnome-power-manager or the battery indicator malfunctioning. 5) Sometimes something (I haven't been able to determine what) will happen and the AC power will be acknowledged by the system and the battery will start to recharge again. The battery indicator sometimes matches what the upower and other checks say, but usually even if it does, the battery indicator might show charging but the other more detailed screens will still be inaccessible. Most of the time though it will keep discharging until the system shuts down. 6) If rebooted, everything looks normal again. unplug/replug will start back at 1) I'll try and provide more details of this at a later time. [Bug 341214] Re: Panel object, system monitor, set to fulll width of panel, will reset aftter every restart to half the panel width.
Yes, I still get this; still have to expand my CPU graph to the 1000 setting, it still resets to about 500 after every reboot, using Lucid with the proposed updates turned on. I haven't tried Maverick. I figured it would be an easy nip and tuck for somebody. I don't think it's a huge deal, of course. I use a CRT here and recently tried using an LCD. This graph applet jolted with each update. Maybe I don't have the settings right, but if it does that on all LCD's, I could see this being a dead applet since CRT's are all but dead, or it might need some additional fine tuning. @W_D Really enjoyed hearing somebody else was using this too. Feedback is fundamental. I'm trying to promote a type of fund raising for open source projects, such as Ubuntu of course, where you get a share ratio when you contribute cash or other resources to the project. It's a way of giving context to the contribution -so it's not a shot in the dark- and also a way to give credit to the contributor. I started thinking about this from my experience with bit torrent. [Bug 605966] [NEW] Pops up "programs still running before waiting for programs to interact
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-session To reproduce the problem under Ubuntu Lucid: 1. Login 2. Open Gedit 3. Modify a file and don't save 4. Logout or shutdown Now notice that you see both a Gedit would you like to save window and a "Programs are still running window." It seems that the "Programs are still running window" should not appear until after Gedit has asked you to save and close. If this is not the case, then why do you get to notify the session manager that you would like to interact with the user with gnome_client_request_interaction and gnome_interaction_key_return? This is especially bothersome since the "Programs are still running window" appears second and tends to cover the Gedit confirm save window. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pops up "programs still running before waiting for programs to interact https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/605966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

There is no %myname% type tag however this could be done via a textsearch of the incoming message using javascript. Something like incomingTextVar.search(/myName/i) should find it.
