[Bug 606127] Re: Evolution will not send emails

2010-07-16 Thread Mitch Towner
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 562714] Re: cannot parse valid podcast feeds

2010-07-16 Thread Austin Texas
I cannot download from the rss feed
www.ktlkam1150.com/podcast/Hartmann.xml
using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Linux Mint 9

I can successfully download from that feed using Firefox on Linux Mint 9.
I can successfully download dozens of other rss feeds using Rhythmbox 0.12.8

 apt-cache policy rhythmbox
rhythmbox:
  Installed: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7
  Candidate: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7
  Version table:
 *** 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 0.12.8-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

I ran rhythmbox -d and then attempted the feed, but there was no additional
output in the terminal.
I immediately switched to a different OS and had no problem accessing the feed
with Rhythmbox 0.12.0 on Linux Mint 7 on the same computer.
I used Synaptic to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL Rhythmbox 0.12.8, and then reinstalled
it. That did not help.
I noticed that www.ktlkam1150.com/podcast/hartmann.xml does not work at all (
without the capital H ). I don't know if that is significant or not.

[Bug 213432] Re: gtk_window.present() doesn't work if the window is already on another desktop

2010-07-16 Thread Vish
argh! I was testing with compiz as WM.

yes , when we set metacity as WM , this is an issue.

@ploum: Not sure why you think this is an Ubuntu specific change though.
Is there a mention in the changelog somewhere?

** Description changed:

Very fresh bug in nautilus 1:2.22.1-1ubuntu3 in Hardy. It was not
present before the last upgrade so I assume this is an Ubuntu bug, not

[Bug 353114] Re: gnome-gnuchess spawns separate process for each new game - processes do not terminate normally

2010-07-16 Thread donatello
I am seeing this bug in Lucid, with all updates applied.

It spawns a new gnome-gnuchess process every time Game - New is
clicked. If happens, when I start a new game, without ending (resign,
claiming draw, etc) the current game. After doing this a few times, I
have one gnome-gnuchess process for every game played all running
together keeping all my cores 100% busy.

Please let me know if any new information is required.

[Bug 606272] [NEW] scrolling with pagedown gets stuck

2010-07-16 Thread Robert Roth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When scrolling down the document from
http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/PDF/design-principles4.pdf with the
pagedown key, the scrolling stucks at approximately the center, it does
not jump to the next page. I can scroll it over that page with the
scrollbar or the mouse, and after that, pagedown is working again, but
there is a section it can't get past.

Steps to repro:

1. Open the file from
http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/PDF/design-principles4.pdf
2. Press Scrolldown and see the pages scrolling

expected: the document should scroll until the end of the page
current: the scrolling stops at a given page, page 11 of 17.

This is always reproducible on my pc running lucid and evince 2.30.3.

[Bug 588155] Re: randomly gnome-settings-daemon fails to start

2010-07-16 Thread mlaverdiere
This is a me too report.

On my laptop running Ubuntu Lucid, my findings is that the problem
always occur upon wake-up (resume) process, after I have moved my laptop
(while in sleep mode) from one wi-fi area (e.g.: home) to another wi-fi
area (e.g.: work), i.e. when network-manager has to change the
connection to the newly available pre-registered SSID (which often
fails). Then, all the gtk apps revert back to to default (ugly!) gtk
theme. In order to get the ambiance theme back, I have to open the
theme applet. The problem doesn't seem to happen otherwise.

[Bug 606314] [NEW] Columns in Other Keys tab cannot be resized

2010-07-16 Thread Mike Pelley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

There are three tabs in the Passwords and Encryption Keys window -
Passwords, My Personal Keys and Other Keys. To resize a column, I move
the mouse over the divider until the icon changes to a left-right arrow,
and then drag (just to be clear). This works perfectly in the Passwords
and My Personal Keys tabs, but does not work in the Other Keys tab.
When I try, it attempts to drag the column itself, as if I had started
dragging from the middle of the column.

[Bug 601420] Re: empathy cannot connect to my SIP server

2010-07-16 Thread David Sugar
There are several reasons why this may happen. The one I am most
familiar with is a consequence of Empathy using ephemeral ports. What
happens is that while the SIP port of the Empathy client is bound to
port 5060 to receive SIP messages, when sending a message (such as
registration), the backend for Empathy instead creates a new socket (on
an ephemeral port) to send SIP messages. Some SIP servers, to support
NAT, assume the UDP port (and address) the incoming SIP message from the
client appears from is the place to route return messages, and since
this is a transitory socket, the response is of course lost and the
chain of operation is broken.

Some argue this is a defect of the SIP server, or not standard compliant
behavior, and for this reason upstream (nokia SIP stack) will not change
it, while others point out true standard-compliant behavior would fail
behind NAT, and indeed further, by Empathy not using the same socket to
send registration refreshes, there is also no keyhole keep-alive
possible for NAT on UDP. However, this does not offer a solution for
your real and immediate issue, but rather simply background as to why it
is currently broken.

One thing I had talked about with the Telepathy developers at UDS is
using sipwitch as a local SIP proxy to solve this, since SIP Witch
actually can deal with the ephemeral port behavior already. Another
possibility we discussed was perhaps replacing the Nokia SIP stack with
eXosip2. However, none of these are immediate options to fix this. A
third choice would be to try and get a patch accepted for Nokia SIP.
The SIP Witch approach is one I do have control over, being the
upstream, and I can look at seeing how we can resolve these scenarios.

[Bug 587821] Re: nautilus freezes for 2 minutes

2010-07-16 Thread broe
my problem was solved by ubuntu-support, removing nautilus-share did
the trick.

i mount my samba-share via /etc/fstab because that's twice as fast then
with nautilus (at least a year ago, haven't tested since then).

backtrace is attached

[Bug 606272] Re: scrolling with pagedown gets stuck

2010-07-16 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for your bug report. I can't reproduce this issue, i.e. I can
scroll that document with the pagedown key without problems.

Are you sure it gets stuck and not just hangs for some time because it
is rendering the page? If so, could you add some details: Does this
issue only show for some viewing options (e.g. continuous, fit to width,
...) or for all? And do you keep the pagedown button pressed or press it
once for every page?

[Bug 605637] Re: Brasero will not copy cd to image file because cdrdao is not present. False!

2010-07-16 Thread John Winterton
The only cdrkit I could find was cdrkit-doc.

I widened my scope of updates to include the proposed objects, and got a
big update. Strangely, before the update, but after the chanve, cdrdao
showed as uninstalled where it showed as installed before this. If
brasero was looking for a specific version, its error message leaves
something to be desired. Will try this again and see if this is now
cleared up.
