Re: [Bug 401944] Re: all power state changes cause suspend on acer aspire one
I just updated the BIOS on my AOD150 to 1.13 (the latest available for the AOD150) and it solves the problem halfway - it now correctly does not do the lid-close action when you plug in etc, but it does not suspend properly when the lid is closed. [Bug 401944] Re: all power state changes cause suspend on acer aspire one
The BIOS update from v1.03 to v1.27 works for me, too. And by "works", I mean that the screen doesn't blank (or suspend) when I play with the power cable, AND the netbook will actually suspend properly on lid close now. [Bug 384062] Re: evince-thumbnailer with a 100% CPU usage
I ran into a similar issue, but found an alternate fix. If I opened my home directory in file browser, evince-thumbnailer would hit 100%, and stay that way. Additionally, no thumbnails would show up in the window. To make a long story short, I'd run some commands as root in my home directory. As a result, a few files were owned by root, with permissions that didn't give my account access. Once I chown'd everything in my home directory to be owned by myself, the problem went away. [Bug 375591] [NEW] f-spot nautilus reality inconsistency when rotating images
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When rotating an image in f-spot, f-spot does not really rotate that image, only shows you rotated, furthermore nautilus now shows you that rotated image in its rotated state too, while in reality the image is NOT rotated. When i then upload the image to imageshack, a blog, a webspace, usb stick or whatever, the image is in its original unmodified way. This inconsistency is unwanted, when i want to rotate an image, i really want it rotated not just shown to me in a rotated way, also leads to complications and unwanted results. Please include a way to really rotate it and if not, at least make nautilus show the image *correctly* ** Affects: f-spot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- f-spot nautilus reality inconsistency when rotating images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375591 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to f-spot in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 610982] [NEW] Problems when running gconf-based applications on a remote desktop
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf I am SSHing ("ssh -X ...") to a Maverick machine from a Lucid machine. In the terminal I start X applications (thunderbird, OpenOffice.org) which are running on the Maverick machine and whose windows are displaying on the desktop of the Lucid machine. There I have several problems with GConf. When I start Thunderbird, I get a pop-up window telling "An error occured while loading or saving configuration information for thunderbird-bin.". Clicking on "Details" says"Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information.(Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus- pQzGHgatiO: Connection refused)". This message repeats several times with different names of the temporary file. Thunderbird takes very long to start and the window is grayed for a longer time. Also during the Thunderbird session the window grays very often and freezes, especially it grays half a minute on the download of every single newsgroup message. All this does not happen when starting Thunderbird locally on the desktop of the Maverick box. When starting ooffice in the SSH terminal, it shows the splash screen and then gives the message "Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information.(Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Failed to connect to socket /tmp /dbus-pQzGHgatiO: Connection refused)" (same message as in Thunderbird) repeatedly in an infinite loop and the main window never appears. Jul 28 12:28:51 consected-sv1-001 pulseaudio[1670]: ratelimit.c: 130 events suppressed Jul 28 12:29:17 consected-sv1-001 kernel: [15882.976141] __ratelimit: 6 callbacks suppressed Jul 28 12:29:17 consected-sv1-001 kernel: [15882.976155] rhythmbox[30966]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp b233e16c error 4 in libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0.2000.1[11+93000] One thing I observed is this seems to happen more often if I change the volume soon after opening Rhythmbox and just after starting to play a track. Perhaps it doesn't like a change in volume at the same time a lot of other things are going on, such as trying to get a bunch of data streamed. [Bug 610940] [NEW] When power is unplugged the system hibernates
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager This bug looks a lot like bug #472717 but I report since I see differences. Note: Apparently my batteryy is broken so that ubuntu reports "laptop battery capacity is low (42.3%)" at the startup. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (freshly Installed recently preserving /home) Once I unplug the power it prompts to hibernate saying battery capacity is 0. But when checked on pallette icon it reports 40 mins remaining time. If I OK the hibernate dialog, machine hibernates. If I Cancel it machine locks down. And sometimes it hibernates right after waking up from hibernate. (I say sometimes because I only have memories of happening this once or twice and couldn't test and confirm). I installed xfce4-power-manager and started using it and now I don't have any problem. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- When power is unplugged the system hibernates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi there. I prevented You to receive some other messages from me: from July 13 till now I experienced days when the but appeared and days when the bug vanished. [Bug 610930] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when trying to form preview of malformed SVG image.
Public bug reported: Symptoms: Nautilus crashes when trying to form preview of malformed SVG image e.g. when opening the containing folder. If the image is placed on the Desktop, Nautilus will go into crash-restart loop. Culprit: Malformed SVG file that has style attribute containing zero length property value. Few examples below: First perfectly OK svg file. - example.svg - WORKING >8 (file cutline) >8 Removed the "red" to make zero length fill-value. Will crash nautilus. - example.svg - NONWORKING ->8 >8 Added whitespace to make fill-value non zero length. This works again, although the circle will be completely black. - example.svg - WORKING >8 >8 Added standard delimiter right after the :. Fill-value is again zero- length and causes Nautilus to crash. - example.svg - NONWORKING ->8 >8 So it is pretty clear that style attribute containing zero length property value will cause troubles. Hopefully this will help to find and fix the bug. @jpangamarca, The first attempt to get a backtrace did not work well. Gnome-panel has a very long list of dependencies though, and I only installed the debug symbols for gnome-panel itself. The effect that I got was that when the problem occurred the gnome debugger seemed to make the problem worse as none of my previously documented tricks for regaining control of the X session would work. Instead, if PrintScr is pressed when gnome-screenshot is already active, either (a) that instance should be moved to the foreground or (b) nothing should happen. ** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-screenshot allows multiple instances https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610847 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 575500] Re: refuses to open files with incorrect encoding
Got this error again today. The file I'm editing has 100% been created with gedit, so its surprising that I can edit, save, and then not be able to open the file. -- refuses to open files with incorrect encoding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575500 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 398077] Re: No easy way to restore the session start programs to the default set
Hi, I am using Ubuntu Lucid, and I would like to report that the System --> Preferences --> Startup Applications program is buggy when trying to activate and then DE-activate the "Automatically remember running applications when logging out" option. I activated the option, logged out, logged in and yes, the running applications were reloaded. But when I deselect the "Automatically..." function and logged out then logged in, the system was STILL trying to reload the previous set of running applications. Hope somebody can enlighten me on this problem. [Bug 95853] Re: Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before deleting files in Nautilus
I don't understand the ongoing "holy war" at all. Why can't the confirmation dialog be optional. Those who want it, will turn it on, and those who don't want it will turn it off. Problem solved and everyone's happy. -- Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before deleting files in Nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
