[Bug 612696] [NEW] Memenu replicates and overlaps shutdown menu
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 Randomly the Memenu covers the shutdown menu, as shown in the attached image. This causes the shutdown menu to "disappear" and most users will find it hard to logoff or shutdown. The only way to get to the shutdown menu is to hold 'super + s' or click on the Memenu and press the right arrow key. What I expect to happen is for the Memenu not to replicate and cover the shutdown menu. This is a big problem because most users won't be able to shutdown or logoff in the normal way. Please note this problem doesn't happen every boot and happens randomly. The only way to fix is to restart or logoff and log back in. Finally I have also found this bug on two completely separate machines. [Bug 612857] [NEW] gnome-power-manager does not open the preferences dialog from the app indicator
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager 1. Click on the gnome-power-manager application indicator. You get a menu with two times: one showing the status/battery time, the other named "Preferences" (I'm translating back to English here; I assume it's "Preferences" rather than "Settings") 2. [Bug 359147] Re: [Needs KMS] Automatically enable mirroring for projectors
I'm going to move this to the gnome-settings-daemon package. We've now got the input-hotplug events necessary to make this happen, and gnome- settings-daemon currently handles these by setting up the monitor as it was last set. Detecting whether the plugged monitor is a projector, and changing the behaviour based on that determination, is a policy issue which is better implemented above the kernel level. ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) => gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) -- [Needs KMS] Automatically enable mirroring for projectors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 359147] [NEW] [Needs KMS] Automatically enable mirroring for projectors
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: xorg Hello, I plugged my wife's computer (running Vista) into a projector and saw it automatically detect the projector and it's resolution then set the laptop's screen res to that resolution and enable mirroring. No interaction required. I definitely got jealous. Right now when you plug in a projector to Ubuntu nothing visible happens. In recent releases things have improved greatly but we could do one step better. I don't know if xorg can detect the difference between a projector and an external monitor, but assuming it can't tell, I can think of three use cases where someone plugs in: 1. They want a second monitor to extend their desktop 2. They are doing a presentation using a software package like OOo and they want different views on the computer and projector screens 3. They are doing a presentation and want the same view (mirroring) on the computer and projector screens So for most presentations either option #2 or #3 is equally suitable. If you plug in your projector and #3 happens automatically you will probably just go with it and be content. You saved some time and fiddling, and in the cases of meetings where there are multiple presenters (for example a user-group meeting) that extra minute of fiddling between presenters can be frustrating (30 sets of eyes staring at you trying to get your OS to work). In those cases where you really wanted #1 or #2 and mirroring won't work you're no worse than you were with the current situation of having to go to the display settings program and extend your desktop onto the second screen. In fact, you're probably slightly better off with the mirroring because then you at least know things are working right away. (i.e. you get a visual confirmation when you plug the second monitor in) ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Confirmed -- [Needs KMS] Automatically enable mirroring for projectors https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/359147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 612830] [NEW] GDM uses ipv6 even when no ipv6 interfaces on system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Bring up a fully updated Lucid Lynx Ubuntu system, with ipv6 disabled by sysctl.conf. Verify no IPv6 on interfaces with ifconfig. Look at listen list--gdm is listening on an IPv6 (wildcard) port! Log in, check your $DISPLAY. You have an IPv6 address. Symptoms... long delays, apparently due to timeouts on IPv6 code paths. Also, apps and window managers which don't do IPv6 will not work (WMaker, for instance, apparently). I recommend that GDM should either check interfaces and only enable address families actually present on a given system. [Bug 612796] [NEW] Evolution + Google Calendar timezone problem
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I'm using the built-in Google Calendar support and the times for events are incorrectly being offset for my timezone (Australia/Brisbane GMT+10:00) even though my timezone is the same on Google Calendar and my system (Evolution is configured to use the system timezone, and the greyed out box for a custom timezone lists Australia/Brisbane). If I hover my mouse over the event in Evolution both the incorrect and correct time are listed, with the correct time being labelled as the 'Etc/GMT' timezone. I seem to be able to temporarily work around this issue by disabling using the system timezone, change my timezone to UTC and then re-enable using the system timezone, but restarting evolution messes up the event times again (probably just a separate bug where enabling the use of the system timezone doesn't refresh the times). This issue is not restricted to secure WebDAV (in Lucid, at least...) I'm able to reproduce it over plain old HTTP. Not sure who or how to route this information to the right maintainer, but what is needed is a full-depth PROPFIND call to precede the actual GETs that do the copying. For each resource returned by the PROPFIND, a quick check for 'iscollection' = TRUE or 'resourcetype' = '' will reveal if the given resource should be treated as a folder (instead of a file). As a nice side effect, the PROPFIND will provide enough information to populate a progress dialog, too. -- copying a folder from a secure webdav server to disk results in a html file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267642 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 323649] Re: Failure to open YouTube videos "Could Not Open Location; you might not have permission to play the file." misleading
That depends on you. You can wait until its in the repos, or do it yourself. I prefer to have an official version from the repos together with the patched version (in case I screw something in the source code). The file is in totem-2.30.2.tar.bz2 which can be downloaded from the main totem page. Its located in: /src/plugins/youtube/totem-youtube.c These are the lines used to construct the movie uri: 529: video_uri_string = g_string_new ("http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=";); 530: g_string_append_uri_escaped (video_uri_string, video_id, NULL, TRUE); 531: g_string_append (video_uri_string, "&t="); 532: g_string_append_uri_escaped (video_uri_string, t_param, NULL, TRUE); 533: g_string_append (video_uri_string, fmt_param); Youtube now requires a mendatory "&asv=" parameter in the uri, so you just need to add one line after the above code: 534: g_string_append (video_uri_string, "&asv="); -- Failure to open YouTube videos "Could Not Open Location; you might not have permission to play the file." misleading https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/323649 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 612643] Re: Blender will not work without libavutil49
Okay, just tested this out on a computer with up to date Maverick installed… First of all, Blender depends on libavutil49 OR libavutil-extra-49. By default, installing it will pull in libavutil49 if the dependency isn't already satisfied. Runs happily with libavutil49, as you mentioned. libavutil-extra-49 is just an empty package with a few documentation files, but it replaces the existing libavutil49. So, if I install that package, the library is no longer available and Blender crashes. The package description doesn't tell us anything about this. It says it “contains an unrestricted version of the libavutil shared object.” ** Also affects: ffmpeg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Blender will not work without libavutil49 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/612643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 612607] [NEW] drag and drop onto menu bar behavior not the same for two files of same type
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I have a nautilus window open at a folder under my home directory labeled "radio" where i keep my radio stations .m3u files. There are two particular stations i listen alot, so i wanted to create a quicklaunch icon for them at the menu bar. When i dragged the first one from the nautilus window to the menu bar, everything went as expected: a quicklaunch icon was created with the appropriate icon and when i click on it vlc starts. however, when i dragged the second .m3u file, a window named "Create Launcher" appears asking me to fill out a few fields regarding the new launcher. I dont mind filling them out, but it is strange that this window only pops up for this second .m3u file and not for the other one.
