[Bug 408417] Re: No option to log in remotely via XDMCP
I fell over this thread when I was installing a 10.4 in a VM today. I had some other problems (network configuration), but when they were solved the XDMCP issue turned up. It took about 5 mins to solve that problem!!! In my /etc/gdm I have an xml schema called: gdm.schema. In the schema you will find a key called: enable/XDMCP. It is a boolan value and it was set to false. I changed it to true and rebooted my system. [Bug 496681] Re: Rhythmbox does not save playlist on iPod
This is still broken in Rhythmbox 0.13. There is a new Sync feature, which allows you to select Rhythmbox playlists and sync them with the ipod, but it does not work. [Bug 615235] [NEW] Totem changes system video hardware.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem A few people have encountered totem suddenly (after an upgrade) displaying weird colors or just a black window. This was caused by a contrast preference setting in totem changing to 0 after the upgrade (instead of the default midscale). The issue here is not that the contrast setting suddenly changed, but that totem seems to leave its contrast settings somewhere in the hardware resulting in other players like mplayer and vlc also displaying weird colors (with the open source driver) or a black window (with the proprietary video driver). My analysis is that totem sets up some sort of pixel-processing pipeline, that includes its contrast pipeline. You could accuse mplayer and vlc of not properly initializing that pipeline because they seem to use totem's. But I think they simply don't use that feature, so they may not know about it. I think that totem should leave the hardware as it found it, and properly set the pipeline back to its original state. This was a friends system. I think it has an NVIDIA video card (onboard, AMD X3 processor). ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Totem changes system video hardware. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/615235 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 563862] Re: When logging on power manager fails
I have tried: 1. Removing disk from CD drive. 2. Changing boot order to HDD first 3. Removing all USB devices. 4. Blacklisting gspca_vc032x 5. Removing PM from startup list 6. Reinstalling PM None of them worked for me. The only thing that I can add to the discussion is that I had an OK install of 10.4 on a HP (desktop) and then (for non related reasons) moved the HDD to a tower with a Gigabyte MB. The problem appeared as soon as I switched on the tower. The tower has an AGP card and I tried removing that and using the onboard video (similar to the HP machine), but didn't change the problem. [Bug 71228] Re: Rhythmbox has no apparent pause button
Matt, Sorry, I didn't notice your patch. I just saw an easily-fixable bug, wrote a patch for it, made the debian changes for it and pushed a branch for it. Then, poked Ken on IRC and requested him to review it. When he found it fit, he got it in. The best way of getting patches in is to download the complete source package, apply the patch for it, write an entry in debian/changelog and then push a branch and poke a sponsor. This will help you in speeding up getting patches into UBuntu. Have a good time fixing bugs.. Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . [Bug 71228] Re: Rhythmbox has no apparent pause button
Matt - I agree, the process is _really_ bad. I would have applied your patch to the source code and compiled and tested it myself if I had the technical know-how. However I at the moment I am barely able to to compile anything, let alone patch it first. (Does one actually patch the source and then compile, or is the patch applied during compilation?) It looks like you and Vish tried to follow the normal (and possibly the right?) process by forwarding your patch upstream to Gnome, however your patch was almost completely ignored. The pre-existing patch from Seemanta Dutta (which he continued to work on after you submitted your patch) was also ultimately ignored/rejected. Comments 45-49 in the upstream bug are very enlightening in this regard. So the normal process has failed. Badly. So now Bilal's patch is in Ubuntu and Debian, but not in Gnome, which doesn't help any other non-Debian-based distributions which are shipping Rhythmbox. This of course is not Bilal's fault. This sort of failure on the part of the Rhythmbox/Gnome developers is probably one of the reasons why Banshee seems to be taking over as the music player of choice. -- Rhythmbox has no apparent pause button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Could you use ubuntu-bug storage to open the bug? Closing that one since that will open a new bug with extra informations... ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Floppy inserted in USB drive not automounted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/615063 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: CD or DVD inserted into either builtin CD/DVD drive or USB drive is properly automounted. Even a 2GB HP flash stick gets properly automounted. But insertion of floppy into a Sony USB floppy drive doesn't cause automount, even though the drive does feel the insertion. I noticed directory floppy0 already in /media before I put the floppy in, with name floppy linked to it. But, after insertion, neither showed actual contents of floppy. I removed both names, rebooted, tried again, and still no automount. Note all USB devices connected to Dell 1764 via a Belkin 7-port USB hub. See possibly-related bugs #216483 #267622 #611569.
