[Bug 630460] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2010-09-06 Thread derLars
okay, the problem is based in not having Empathy installed, as there is
a dependency in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-
artwork.gschema.override. This prevents the schemas from being built
correctly, if Empathy is not installed (like on my system):

r...@host:~# glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
No such schema `org.gnome.Empathy.conversation' specified in override file
`/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override'

Installing Empathy again or deleting the ubuntu-
artwork.gschema.override, gcalctool works normally. As does Evince,
which as the same problems:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/621507

This seems directly related to this bug:

[Bug 621507] Re: evince crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2010-09-06 Thread derLars
okay, the problem is based in not having Empathy installed, as there is
a dependency in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-
artwork.gschema.override. This prevents the schemas from being built
correctly, if Empathy is not installed (like on my system):

r...@host:~# glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
No such schema `org.gnome.Empathy.conversation' specified in override file
`/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override'

Installing Empathy again or deleting the ubuntu-
artwork.gschema.override, Evince works normally after recompiling the
schemas. As does gcacltool, which as the same problems:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcalctool/+bug/630460

This seems directly related to this bug:

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2010-09-06 Thread Yann Dìnendal
This invisible area could be defined only for the current focused
window, this would solve the problem of overlapping windows. It would be
a problem with the option focus on hover, however, but then, if we
consider this outside invisible area as being part of the window, the
focus would not be given to another window by simply hovering on that
zone. I hope I'm being understandable...

It's not only gcalctool which works again. On my machine evince is

Thanks for the hint Lars.

Is there a possibility to install the libaries only instead of installing the

[Bug 323649] Re: Failure to open YouTube videos Could Not Open Location; you might not have permission to play the file. misleading

2010-09-06 Thread eiver
You have youtube plugin enabled and this is correct. The problem is,
that youtube plugin itself contains an error (a bug). I have released a
fix for this error (available above in this topic), but the fix is for
programmers, because the error is located in the youtube plugins source
code.

Someone responsible for Ubuntu repositories should pick up my fix,
verify that it works and release it. An ordinary user should receive the
fix automatically as one of the updates. No additional action necessary.

However for some reason nobody at Ubuntu bothered to release my fix to
the Ubuntu repos and it has been more than a month since I released the
fix. The only thing you can do is to kick someones ass at Ubuntu, so
they can hurry up or you can learn a little bit about programming and
apply my fix yourself on your computer.

[Bug 630460] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2010-09-06 Thread derLars
@John: I'm not sure which package will install the correct schema. If
you don't use Empathy, simple move the /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas
/ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override file to some backup and you should be
fine after recompiling the schemas. Worked for me, and the file's
contents indicate only stuff dealing with Empathy anyways.

[Bug 631400] [NEW] transcoding to portable device only creates ~4kB files

2010-09-06 Thread Andreas Schildbach
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I tried to copy from my NAS (DAAP share) to an USB connected Nexus One
by drag'n'dropping an album. Apparently Rhythmbox tries to transcode to
.ogg files on the portable device. But unfortunately, all files created
are only roughly 4 KB in size (e.g. 4877 bytes). Needless to say, but
those small music files fail to play on any player.

[Bug 631217] Re: Can't save dual monitor configuration

2010-09-06 Thread Benjamin Humphrey
Sebastien, I can't remember what particular update broke it because I
had about 200mb of updates when it happened. All I know is that it was
working, then one day it wasn't.

Not sure how useful this will be, but in the same set of updates a bug
was FIXED that had been annoying me for some time: The GDM now appears
only on one monitor while the other is black. Previously, the GDM would
be cloned across both monitors and stretched. This could be the same
package.

The error could not save configuration lends itself to suggesting it
might be a permissions problem. If you can tell me what file it's trying
to write to, I can investigate further.

As for reproducing, just install the latest version of Maverick and use
the stock drivers that come with it - I have an ATI card but as Leon
reports, it is also reproducible with an Intel card. Simply connect an
external monitor (I'm using HDMI, Leon, are you using VGA or HDMI?) and
try to change something in System Preferences Monitors.

I just reproduced the problem on my AMD64 machine running an up-to-date

the PDF, it crashes with the same error message as you

GLib-ERROR **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.25.14/glib/gmem.c:140: failed to

Except I am using the newer glib2.0-2.25.15, so mine says 2.25.15
instead of 2.25.14.
