[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
Have just re-installed a fresh copy of 10.10 up-to-date as of today. The bug still effects me. After applying Kenneth's fix (see comment #68) all is working well. I've done a little digging around, and it seems there is no elegant way to get it working. I can't find an elegant way to get /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-settings-daemon.desktop to load after everything else. The following doesn't enable one to choose which applications upon login to load in serial (or have requisite apps loaded beforehand): http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-latest.html I did notice a symlink in /etc/xdg/autostart/nvidia-autostart.desktop that links with /etc/alternatives/nvidia-autostart.desktop which in-turn links with /usr/share/nvidia-current/nvidia-autostart.desktop (see attached) Which essentially has: Exec=sh -c '/usr/bin/nvidia-settings --load-config-only' I deleted the link /etc/xdg/autostart/nvidia-autostart.desktop to see if it made any difference. It turns out it seems to make no difference at all if gnome-settings-daemon.desktop is configured to:- * not start at all - get ugly theme * start immediately (default setting) - get ugly theme * start after 1 or 2 seconds (which is Kenneth's fix) - theme works nicely I hope there's an elegant fix for all this, so it can be sent out to patch other existing maverick users. -- Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you. I've been playing around with it, and it makes f-spot happy. But then again, ofcourse it doesn't change the info in the image file itself, it just mends the database (photos.db) so that f-spot won't hiccup. Perhaps f-spot should handle image files with time stamps wrongfully in the future in a more graceful way? I have this nagging feeling f-spot shifted the time of those photos in the first place, but I'm not intelligent enough to debug it. Re: [Bug 671437] Re: Problems with mail download
Thank You for your response. Answers to your questions point by point - 1. Yes it happens quite too often. (Say once every 5 times I start Evolution) 2. I am using POP Access to Google Servers to retrieve my mail. Here, once evolution recognizes some new mail on the server it starts downloading and gets stuck somewhere in between or even at the start and refuses to download further. Most of the times this issue is resolved only when Evolution is forcefully shut down and restarted. I faced this issue even in the earlier versions of Ubuntu. But the problem occurs quite too frequently in this version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu 10.10) to ignore! [Bug 671879] [NEW] File extension shouldn't override filetype determination
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I have in my possession an Adobe® Photoshop® CS3 (Macintosh version) file with a wrongfully placed .jpg file extension. [0] Testing this file with the file command [1] always classifies this file as an "Adobe® Photoshop® Image". Nautilus [2], however, does not share the same opinion. In fact, regardless of a file's (probabilistic) proper type it will override with a new file type based on the file's extension. Thus, if I placed a .h extension on any type of file Nautilus would override its type and display it as a C header (text/x-chdr). I rarely use file managers, so this is new to me. [Bug 671287] Re: cannot delete from outbox and sometimes others
Further possible relevant info: I have a standard 386 pentium 4 machine with everything normally needed.I upgraded to 10.10 and as usual went to the after install wiki for sound and video to install medibuntu package, googleearth etc.On reloading I was told I have duplicate medibuntu repositories and google package, which is in synaptic, doesn't exist.Installed google in synaptic which wont function because of 'child process'.Checked with the forums for similar experiences and found nothing and totally unaware of howmuch I have done wrong till now in the process decided to go to my mail in evolution to get something positive done. When I started deleting unwanted mail I discovered delete function doesn't work.Comp. draws a line through selected mails and stop.I now decided to send mails as usual which was very slow and when I opened the outbox it was loaded with old mail dating back to 6 to 8 months ago. When I tried to delete them I got a message saying the outbox file is irrecoverably corrupt end all deletion now failed.Hence my problem. Having read the bug report instructions by now I was more positive and reloaded evolution 3x,opened all files and reselected my mail choices etc etc, restarted and shut down the comp. 2x and out of the blue about an hour ago deletion started working and evolution back to normal. I suppose I succeeded in making a fool of myself and thank you for your time.Case closed. I am attaching three screen shots which must be relevant for your perusal. [Bug 631980] Re: gnome-keyring doesn't unlock ssh key
Please resolve this A.S.A.P. ! It's very annoying to do this on 30 computers at my work place. I have the private keys, I have the Seahorse Daemon running, seahorse can see the private key, but I cannot "remeber for good" or permanently the password for that private key in it's default keyring. Please make the fix (I don't know what happened in the first place, why someone tampered with that code that worked OK), nevermind, and please make an update soon so I may update the package to be able to Remember SSH Private Key Passwords Permanently (or simply put: store private key password in gnome keyring and unlock it at every session startup). Tobias Wolf: until someone decides to update this (I hope really soon !!) can you tell me please how to access your modified version of the package that fixes this problem ? -- gnome-keyring doesn't unlock ssh key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/631980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 341129] Re: Screensaver hangs in Jaunty
This is also an issue on my Dell Inspiron 1525, running 2.6.32-25-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 19:48:22 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx After I type screensaver password the screensaver image still cover the screen. I can Alt-Tab and then see the desktop in the background and activate the different windows. By killing the screensaver I can fix the problem. This happens regularly, but not every time. Often enough to be annoying.. Happens most often after inactivity timer has activated the screensaver. -- Screensaver hangs in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341129 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
