[Bug 667071] Re: archive manager
I don't know what could cause such a problem, i can not reproduce it. At first I thought, that shotwell was causing it, but after seeing other people have the same issue with other apps (archive manager, vlc, etc) I have changed my mind. It must be something more systemwide but I do not understand ubuntu so deeply to find out the cause. maybe someone else, who does have the required knowledge will get this problem on his/her PC and then he/she'll find the reason. I've shared the workaround for the people who need it, because this is a really annoying bug. -- archive manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 667071] Re: archive manager
Thanks for your email. I would like to ask what, in your opinion causes the bug to appear in the first place? I was having with the old Gateway notebook's slowness, I installed 10.10 into VMWare's virtual box on my much higher-performance MacBookPro Unibody with 8GB of memory. 10.10 is yet, quite new, very fast. So far, this bug hasn't shown up, but if you know the conditions that cause this "rollover", then I'd be happy to watch out for it as I develop the VMware's version which I think I'll continue to use, for now. [Bug 672873] Re: Installed GSettings schemas not detected on PowerPC
I'm not sure what the normal procedure is, but here's what worked for me. I downloaded the three files from the source package. http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/natty/glib2.0 I then just extracted the orig packages (tar zxf glib2.0_2.27.3.orig.tar.gz) and applied the patch from the created directory (gunzip -c ../*.diff.gz | patch -p1) and then run debuild -us -uc Once the build is done just dpkg --list | grep glib2.0 and compare which packages you have to install, the glib2-cil is from the mono-gtk package so you can ignore that. Also you'll probably need to install a few packages, compilers and what- not, depends what you have already. You can do apt-get build-dep glib2.0 to install the source dependencies, also apt-get install devscripts dpkg-dev to install the debian package building tools. -- Installed GSettings schemas not detected on PowerPC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/672873 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 676084] Re: gnome panel crashes on right-mouse-button down and fast move
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. What seems to be happening it that I'm able to scroll too far to the right. The corrupted part of the image actually does not exist: the original image ends where the corruption starts. I was forced to press the power button by 10 seconds and to loose all my work. 2) When I try to hibernate my laptop, it gets stuck in the same place as I mentioned in (1), the only difference is that in this case, if I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 I get the screen of the TTY1, but my keyboard inputs are not recognized, then I can not login neither recover anything of my session or work. 3) I am working with the AC adapter connected, I unplugged the adapter. What I expect is that my laptop continues working normally, instead I get a message that my computer battery is critically low and *SOMETIMES* (sometimes not) my computer tries to hibernate, and as I mentioned in (2) when it tries to hibernate, my computer freezes. I don't know if I must make the report as three different bugs because the three are closely correlated. [Bug 62842] Re: Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7 doesn't work correctly
I agree with @Artem Baguinski. If the Ubuntu program does not support this newer protocol, then the program should say something like "iTunes 7 and above are not supported". I believe that the Apple iTunes client will advertise it's version, so hopefully this would be easy to detect. Currently, Rhythmbox says it's connecting to the remote iTunes share, and will sit there forever. This is misleading and bad behavior. ** Summary changed: - Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7 doesn't work correctly + Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7, 8, 9, 10 doesn't work correctly -- Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7, 8, 9, 10 doesn't work correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62842 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 62842] Re: Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7 doesn't work correctly
I changed the subject line to make it more descriptive. Here is what I changed, and my reasons: * The subject line said "DAAP" but it seems that the bug description and most of the comments actually say "Rhythmbox" or "Banshee". * Also, this problem is present in iTunes version 10. I believe this affects iTunes versions 7 through 10 (e.g. all modern versions). ** Summary changed: - daap with itunes 7 doesn't work correctly + Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7 doesn't work correctly -- Rhythmbox & daap with itunes 7, 8, 9, 10 doesn't work correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62842 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 672873] Re: Installed GSettings schemas not detected on PowerPC
Thank you Milan, that's what I was looking for I wasn't sure where to get patches based on patch numbers. Patch 9211d2b is not applicable to the glib in 10.10 as the gvdb_table_get_raw_value is still called gvdb_table_get_value (the code is the same in both, just a function name change as far as I can tell). But patch c84441 did apply correctly, though it did not fix the problem for me. It's possible I made an error or there's something else missing but that's the result thus far. I'll try out the package from Natty next when I get a chance. -- Installed GSettings schemas not detected on PowerPC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/672873 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 666033] Re: Size of contents in volume reported is incorrect
Not even a kernel bug. According to: http://www.novell.com/support/viewContent.do?externalId=7004153 /proc/kcore is 128TB on all 64-bit systems, because that is the maximum amount of memory that the kernel can address. So the fix here is really to simply ignore this file when calculating disk usage in nautilus. More correctly, it should ignore all of /proc, since these files don't actually take up any disk space: they are virtual. -- Size of contents in volume reported is incorrect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/666033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 666033] Re: Size of contents in volume reported is incorrect
Not a bug in nautilus. The problem exists somewhere else. Thanks to a comment upstream, I tracked the problem down to the file /proc/kcore. This file alone is reported as 128TB, even by the 'ls' command. According to: http://www.unixguide.net/linux/faq/04.16.shtml The size of this file should be equal to the amount of memory in your system.
