[Bug 676844] [NEW] Session error: "BraseroChecksumImage" did not behave properly

2010-11-17 Thread Kevin Estes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

When I write an ISO to a disc in Brasero, it's supposed to create a
checksum of the written disc, and compare it to the ISO file. Brasero
is failing to do so, and gives me the above error message at the end.

The checksum program does successfully create a checksum from the ISO
file, but not from the disc.

For the record, I have both the of the ISO options under Edit -> Plugins
set to SHA256.

I am using the 32-bit version of Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat (10.10), with
Brasero 2.32.0

[Bug 672420] Re: Changing volume to 0% breaks channel ballance

2010-11-17 Thread Murz
Can we fix this bug with ballance? Or it must be fixed in pulseaudio?
And what can we do for add support surround4.1, 5.1, 7.1 and other
configurations?
Because configuring different volumes per channel in surround systems needs
more often than in only stereo system.
I think better is to store each volume per-channel, instead of ballance.
I have create the bug in pulseaudio about this: http://pulseaudio.org/ticket/874

[Bug 240289] Re: Cannot restore toolbar and address bar in Nautilus after their removal

2010-11-17 Thread platnicat
To trigger the bug, right-click on a toolbar and uncheck the menu, main,
and address bars. Ta-da, now you can't add them back! Note: If you did
this to yourself (like me) open gconf-editor to Apps > nautilus >
preferences and check the boxes next to the start_with entries for the
toolbars you want. Suggested fix: Add a toolbar customization tab to
properties dialogs.

[Bug 40011] Re: Three users switching leads to blank tty9

2010-11-17 Thread Erik Meitner
I've created a workaround for this bug.

1. Copy the attached file to /usr/local/bin/
2. sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/gdm_vt_fixer
3. Add the following to /etc/gdm/PostSession/Default before the "exit 0"
command:
/usr/local/bin/gdm_vt_fixer &
4. Restart GDM or reboot.

The script will be run after a GDM session ends(a user logs out). It
will wait five seconds and then check that the virtual terminal that is
active is associated with an existing X session. If it is not, it will
switch to a VT that is running the login window. If there is no login
window it will switch to a VT of some existing X session.

changelog entry as 0.1.8.3. Version 0.1.8.4 is noted as being released

Is that what is needed? Is there anything else that we need to do to

Thanks for your help.

[Bug 676797] [NEW] The saving message shows filepath between backslashes

2010-11-17 Thread Renato Miceli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

When a file is being saved, be it through File > Save or Ctrl+S, a
saving message shows up in the status bar. It presents the following
sentence:

Saving file \"/path/to/file\"...

I believe the filepath was supposed to be enclosed in just quotation
marks, but for some purpose the backslashes appeared. Maybe the escape
character to allow quotation marks within strings was doubled?

Release: gedit 2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit

[Bug 676793] [NEW] Need to Double-Click ISO Images TWICE Before Brasero Opens to Burn to Disc

2010-11-17 Thread OzzyFrank
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Ubuntu 10.10 using Brasero 2.32.0-0ubuntu2

Before upgrade to 10.10, ISO images only needed to be double-clicked
once for Brasero's "Burn to Disc" to appear.

After upgrade to 10.10, double-clicking an ISO image results in the
cursor showing "busy", and in the taskbar a button appears saying it is
"Opening...", but after quite a few seconds of this, nothing appears
after the taskbar button vanishes. Double-clicking the ISO a second time
finally achieves the desired outcome.

Additional info: The only other thing I can think of to mention, though
I doubt it has anything to do with this, is that after the upgrade
Brasero kept (apparently) creating image checksums (though I couldn't
find any evidence it was doing more than wasting time). I went into Edit
> Plugins and disabled both the File Checksums and Image Checksums
plugins. I'm not actually sure if the behaviour above was from the start
(after the upgrade) or after disabling the plugins (since I only burned
an image or two before looking for how to disable the annoying checksum
creation).

[Bug 676778] [NEW] Battery icon not refreshed after full charge (shows empty battery instead of full battery)

2010-11-17 Thread Dennis Ideler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Expected: a full battery icon shown in the indicator applet
Actual: an empty battery icon shown while the battery is actually full

Description:
My battery was almost empty so I closed the lid and charged it for a few hours
(it's set for the screen to go blank on a closed lid, and it locks after some
time of inactivity). After charging it, I disconnected it from the charger and
opened it. My battery was full but the battery icon still shows an empty
battery. The battery monitor from Docky shows the correct power level for the
battery though, so the indicator applet should be able to read the power level
from the computer correctly.

same here.
Ubuntu 10.10
wubi install
also using virtualbox, but no shared folders.

I have one nfs-volume mounted with fstab.
one smb-filesystem with nautilus/gvfs.
one ntfs filesystem with nautilus/gvfs.

Both the nfs and smb are from a Debian machine.

memory usage is growing at a rate of about 1MiB/s.
After killing the process it just starts at zero again and grows until the
system freezes.

Patrick

[Bug 676722] [NEW] keep aligned feature gets re-enabled

Public bug reported:

Whenever I restart my computer (might be logging in and out as well),

It will stay disabled until the next restart.

[Bug 676720] [NEW] Gnome power doesn't shut down ubuntu 10.10 when UPS out of juice

2010-11-17 Thread michaelcole
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hello, my APC backups ES 550 doesn't shut down ubuntu before it runs out
of juice.

It appears to significantly over-estimate the amount of power left in
the battery.

It beeps slowly between 100 and 50%. Then at 50% beeps constantly for
about 30 seconds. Then shuts off power.

I would like the computer to run for 2 minutes on battery power, then
shut off, but the GUI doesn't appear to provide for this.

Also, the battery statistics information is pretty cool, but doesn't
seem to adjust to the battery - I tested the system twice thinking maybe
the battery needs to callibrate.

Thanks for the hard work you've done on this cool app.

Mike

[Bug 676637] Re: Wrong aspect ratio with DV AVI files in PiTiVi

2010-11-17 Thread Stefan Nagy
I add two screenshots: one of pitivi and the other of kino, both showing
the same scene of the same DV AVI file. In both cases I didn't do
anything else but to import the file and set the timeline to a certain
time.

In contrast to PiTiVi (GStreamer) Kino seems to recognize the pixel
aspect ratio of the video.

[Bug 657817] Re: Alt+Print Screen Doesnt work in ubuntu 10.10

2010-11-17 Thread kapetr
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 642792 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642792

Hello,

In past I has used Alt+PrintScreen to make SceenShot of current window
and Ctrl+PrintScreen to make SceenShot of whole screen.

But ... in U10.10 do Alt+PrintScreen not work - this keyboard shortcut
is not possible to define.

Maybe I have found the answer WHY:

Take look at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reisub
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1056800

The PritScreen is also SysRq.

Maybe - new kernel in U10.10 adds first time this functionality.

What do you think ? Could that be the reason (not bug) ?

[Bug 676681] [NEW] Cant drag attached messages to folder in evolution

2010-11-17 Thread Mike T.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Using evolution 2.28.3 on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS - if i receive an email
that has been forwarded as an attachment I cannot drag it from the
message body to the inbox (or any other folder), nor is there an option
to move it to a folder when I right click. When I try the message icon
move over the folder as expected and a small + sign sppears but when I
release the mouse nothing happens...

The same drag and drop operation is possible when using version of
Evolution 2.22.3.1 on Debian stable.

Looks like something has broken in the newer release.. I would like to
'upgrade' to Ubuntu (to get some of the newer features) but I really
can't until evolution works properly.

Re: [Bug 625670] Re: Not all desktop items are themed

2010-11-17 Thread getut
That is nice to hear. That almost positively indicates that it is a race
condition. Fast processor + fast hard drive means the systems are getting
to the desktop before some process is ready.

Hopefully that is enough information to pique the interest of a
developer.

More information

I'd like to add that, based on getut and aidanjt's comments, i tried a
different hard drive in my laptop.

I experienced this bug when using an Intel SSD, model number
SSDSA2M080G2GC.

Changed to an older 7200 RPM Samsung hard drive, reinstalled 10.10 x64
and all items (panels included) are themed properly.

Be happy to help test to provide more info. Let me know.

Mike
