[Bug 676060] Re: Cannot connect to ICQ

2010-11-17 Thread ar
Instantbird states: ICQ connection error

Recently users started to get an error (Error: Unknown reason) while
attempting to connect to ICQ. This is being tracked in bug 582. ...

Luckily there is an easy work around for now:

   1. Open the account manager (Tools Accounts)
   2. Select your ICQ account and click Properties
   3. On the Advanced Options tab change the Server to login.icq.com and
deselect Use SSL and Use clientLogin

Other third party instant messaging clients using one of the old login
servers were also affected.

However, Empathy does not have the option to use SSL and Use clientLogin
with the ICQ protocol.

[Bug 668605] Re: Malformed PrintPreview and Print

2010-11-17 Thread exactt
I have similar problems. Although it is not form related for me. A
regular pdf (Adobe Reader prints it right) has some parts (it looks
like it is extremly widely spaced and wraped to multiple lines) that
are malformed... Maybe this is a font issue...

While I can't post my PDF (invoice with too much personal info in it)
maybe the original poster can? Maybe add also a scan of the print

[Bug 652929] Re: maverick rc gnome-settings-dameon doesn't start

2010-11-17 Thread Cuihtlauac
Adding sleep 2, is definitely *not* a solution, nothing but an ugly and
hopefully interim workaround. I'm wondering why the gdm gnome-settings-
daemon is not yet dead when the logging user process kicks in. Either
it's stalled waiting for something late, or it is just too slow to die.
I'm tempted to think it may be second case, my machine is pretty fast
(dual 6 core Xeon X5650), in such case it may be upstream bug.

PS1: Shall we consider changing the status of this bug? It seems confirmed.
PS2: BTW, the title is wrong, it does affect production Maverick. I guess we
don't care any longer about rc.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch

crash report you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using

[Bug 676436] [NEW] error during burning cd image made from rhythmbox 0.13.1

2010-11-17 Thread kiko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I have a playlist in rhythmbox 0.13.1 I want to make an audio CD from.
So, I clicked the icon for creating audio CDs in the playlist view. The
direct method doesn't work (burn to CD). The burning part failed during
writing the text information about the songs (tried on multiple CDs).
So, I decided to use the other method - create an image and burn it.
This doesn't work either, though. I have attached the brasero session
log which was generated during that.

After both of the failed attemps to burn the audio CD, the cd drive
freezes. The led keeps flashing, but the drive does not respond neither
to the hw button, nor the sw signals (eject -v).

Naturally, I expect that the audio CD should be burned without error(s)
and wasted CDs.

Tested and it works (mail only).

Users also need to enable the plugin after upgrading from maverick-
proposed. Enable the plugin in Evolution under Edit Plugins Outlook
PST import. Restart Evolution and you can now import a Outlook PST file.

Thanks!

[Bug 631428] Re: Empathy doesn't apply avatar for MSN

2010-11-17 Thread andrea-abelli
Hi,

how can you ppl set this bug as low importance:
1.
Q: Nowadays (2010 AD), what does the average user utilises a computer for?
A: Social networking..

Q: What's one of the most common IM protocols?
A: MSN..

Thesis: You just can't let the only officially supported IM client being
broken to the bone.

or

2.
If you're not willing to support/debug (because I don't think it's such a
criminally difficult task to correct this bug) empathy set pidgin as default.
You don't want to waste Canonical's man-hours? Just set it high and hope that
the next bug fixing day someone is gonna notice it.

But, giving it low importance is surely not gonna help.

[Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets

** Description changed:

+ Please take a look at the list of duplicate bugs. Please think on how
+ many people get notified when you add anything to this bug report.
+ Please don't confirm the bug it is already confirmed. Please don't
+ attach further screenshots - we all know how the problem looks. We all

+ post your own. We need to draw constructive conclusions and find the
+ solution.
+
Binary package hint: gnome-panel, nm-applet, etc...

  SUMMARY:

After graphical logon notification area gets scrambled. Icons are in
terrible mess. Some of them are overlapping others. Sometimes network
manager icon is missing. Sometimes phantom icons show up. They can be
clones of any other icons in the notification area. Bug affects any
  graphics card: ATI, nVidia, Intel...

  WORKAROUND 1:

Run 'killall gnome-panel' from the terminal or Gnome's Run dialog. The
  panels will automatically respawn correctly.

  WORKAROUND 2:

When you get your icons distorted right-click on the affected panel (not
icons) click Properties. In Panel Properties change panel
orientation to Left or Right and back to Top or Bottom. In my
case all icons are displayed properly, but one (nm-applet) is missing.

  WORKAROUND 3:

Right click the Gnome panel and remove the offending applets and re-add
  them, i.e. Indicator Applet, etc.

[Bug 676624] [NEW] Panel applets randomly fail to start.

2010-11-17 Thread DAP
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I run a bunch of panel applets, and have had many of them fail to start on
login.
Unfortunately I do not remember the error message, but it will happen again, so
when it does I'll write down the error message and post an update.

So far, applets that have failed this way are:
Indicator Applet Session
Clock
Hardware Monitor
Gnome Sensor Applet

Usually nothing fails. Occasionally just one of these will fail. Rarely, more
than one will fail.
If I immediately log out and log back in, the failed panel applet is working
again.

On a related note, the Camera Monitor applet quite often (but not
always) brings up an error message claiming it is already running on
login. This failure is not as annoying as it does not require a logout
to recover from.

Since this affects so many different applets, I do not believe the
problem is in the applets themselves, instead it must be in the gnome
panel.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

[Bug 676595] Re: Nautilus crashed while typing in pidgin-conversation

2010-11-17 Thread Omer Akram
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 676637] [NEW] Wrong aspect ratio with DV AVI files in PiTiVi

2010-11-17 Thread Stefan Nagy
Public bug reported:

When I import a DV AVI file (an amorphic widescreen video) in PiTiVi
v0.13.5 the aspect ratio of the video isn't correct (and I can't correct
it). I suppose it has something to do with the PAR (pixel aspect ratio)
which isn't detected. The PiTiVi-developers told me on the #pitivi-
channel on freenode that this is a GStreamer-bug. I have the same
problem if I try to open the file with Totem using GStreamer.

I don't have the problem with Kino (http://kinodv.org/), so it seems
like my files can't be the cause of the problem.

That is nice to hear. That almost positively indicates that it is a race
condition. Fast processor + fast hard drive means the systems are getting
to the desktop before some process is ready.

Hopefully that is enough information to pique the interest of a
