The front speakers don't work till the volume is at 80% up. Did a system memtest, which showed a couple of errors on SIMM DDR1 (of 4) in 5th pass, after 15 mins. SIMM now replaced and no errors noted after an hour of memtest. System monitoring will continue and any more bugs caught will be notified. I don't have access to the machine I was using when I originally reported this (an Asus 1008HA) as it's been lent to a family member. However, I now have Maverick installed dual-boot on my Macbook Pro (ubuntu-desktop, not netbook edition) and can report that the behaviour is indeed as expected now. For the avoidance of doubt, "as expected" means as per original report, options laptop lid closed on mains->blank screen; laptop lid closed on battery->suspend; close lid on mains, it blanks screen but keeps running; pull mains lead out, it suspends. I realize that this bug report may not be exactly the right one but for those experiencing this issue for only the last few days (people reporting here since the 18th) it does seem that login.oscar.aol.com port 5190 no longer accepts SSL connections. Unchecking "Use SSL" will allow login. Of course those of us using SSL would prefer to keep using it, but there does not seem to be any workarounds that I have been able to find. I think I'm experiencing this bug too. In the past few weeks, I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 x64 desktop on brand new self-built machines. One of the first things I did to each was to activate the Nvidia driver, once I rebooted, themes no longer seem to be applied, the UI looked like 9.04. I think its strange this bug has low prio because it means I cant use gstreamer to watch recorded TV-shows AT ALL, in my case recorded by mythbuntu. Of course there is the standard work around to use mplayer / vlc... I noticed this after uninstalling Evolution and lots of evolution- something packages. It turns out gnome-about-me uses files provided by the "evolution-data-server" package. Now, currently "gnome-control- center" recommends "evolution-data-server", so I probably shouldn't have removed it. But given part of it crashes without "evolution-data-server" being installed, wouldn't it be better to change the "recommends" to "depends"? Another options would be splitting the gnome-about-me program into its own independent package, recommended by the "gnome-control-center" and installed by default, and it alone depending from "evolution-data- server".
