[Bug 682568] [NEW] Totem crashes on startup with undefined symbol

2010-11-28 Thread Again617
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Description:Ubuntu 10.10
Release:10.10

totem:
  Installed: 2.32.0-0ubuntu1

Totem crashes when I try to start it.

When running totem --debug this output is produced:
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GstObject)

totem: symbol lookup error: totem: undefined symbol:

This bug appears to be reported here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624197.

This is annoying as I cannot use totem at all.

[Bug 626724] Re: Putting the mouse over a document for example illuminates the document - but too hard

2010-11-28 Thread Chris Wilson
@Paul As far as I am aware, the issue isn't about the rendering of text
in a document, rather the rending of text atop the icon of a document,
which is a completely different issue. The text on the icon, at least in
my tests, is to small to be legible in the default installation, even
without the highlighting, which I do not see as a problem since making
the test of an A4 document legible as an icon would require an increase
in the size of said icon several times to a point where it was too large
to be practical.

** Summary changed:

- Putting the mouse over an document for example illuminates the document - but
too hard

[Bug 572115] Re: Brasero copy to image, select window "close" button badly named

2010-11-28 Thread surma mukhopadhyay
Hi, I have gone through some of the standard CD-DVD Burner Softwares,
both commercial and open source types.

I found, in case of 'properties', the term 'Preferences' is the most
appropriate and after pressing the 'properties' button (or the
'Preferences' button), there (in the 'Location for Image File' window)
can be two options at the bottom right of the window, such as [1] OK and
[2] Cancel.

I found these very traditional and can help both type of users who are
using BRASERO for the first time and also the regular users .

I am attaching two screenshots of my proposed corrections.

[Bug 626724] Re: Putting the mouse over an document for example illuminates the document - but too hard

2010-11-28 Thread Paul Sladen
Speculating, but I wonder if this is because Evince currently renders
completely new text on a solid background over the top of the document,
rather than highlighting the text that was already drawn in the
document; eg. the highlight does not exactly match the shape/size of the
original document text and neither can the original text be seen
underneath when the highlight is active.

[Bug 319575] Re: multiload-applet + sshfs breaks suspend

2010-11-28 Thread Alex Munroe
I assume this is the same core problem: if an sshfs mount's remote
machine becomes unavailable, the system monitor applet will freeze and
remain in uninterruptible sleep forever.

[Bug 682508] [NEW] SD format operation crashes if volume label is more than 11 characters long

2010-11-28 Thread tjagoda
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

I did a format on a 2GB SD card by right clicking on the SD card icon
and selecting format, under FAT windows/linux compatible file system
settings. It then asks you what you'd like the volume label to be - if
you type in anything over 11 characters, the process then errors out -
but with an error message which does not hint to the user that the real
problem is their length volume label.

A good fix may be to limit the label max length on the input field, or
to give a more helpful error message.

2010-11-28 Thread Chris Wilson
Dominik, can you please specify what problem this 'hard highlighting'
causes? As pre my comment above, I do not see this as a problem that
needs fixed so I feel inclined to mark it as invalid, for both the
Papercuts project and Evince.

I have solved this problem with.
In ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list file:

sudo gedit~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

and adding two lines:

inode/directory=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop
x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop

after saving this, working all fine.

[Bug 682487] [NEW] messages disappear from the inbox and index/index files are created

2010-11-28 Thread Patrick Mertz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When I leave the inbox (to click on another directory) and then go back
to the inbox, all the previously opened messages have disappeared. Only
the "non"-opened" messages remain appearing.

After having forced Evolution to shutdown and being gone to the
~/.evolution/mail/local directory, I see that files with "index" or
"index.data" extensions have appeared. I read on a website that the
cause is a power cut, but I wasn't the "victim" of such a problem. So,
what's wrong ?

[Bug 419143] Re: Printing from evince (and perhaps other GTK apps) to PostScript printers is broken

2010-11-28 Thread Till Kamppeter
Everyone who has still problems, do the following:

1. Attach the file which does not print.
2. Follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing
print job data" on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems
3. Convert the captured print data to PostScript with the "pdftops" command.
4. Tell us the size of the original file, the captured print data, and the
resulting PostScript file.
5. Attach all files. Do not hesitate to attach big files. Attach the files one
by one, do not package them together and do not compress them. Only if the
resulting PostScript file is so big that it takes you hours or days to upload,
do not upload it.
6. Naturally tell us which printer and driver you are using.

[Bug 629257] Re: indicator applet 0.4.6: "Laptop battery (estimating...)" for days on end when discharge/charge time not known

2010-11-28 Thread Paul Sladen
** Description changed:

The drop-down menu for the indicator-applet battery icon menu says
  "Laptop battery (estimating...)"

At a minimum this be fixed to read "Laptop batter (estimating time...)"
or "Laptop battery (estimating battery life...)".

Ideally if the remaining battery *time* is not known (because less than
sufficient datapoints have been collected to enable estimation) then the
percentage should be displayed in-lieu. The percentage is already
available and is used to drive the indicator-applet icon itself.

The current implementation is specified by:

- https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BatteryStatusMenu#Items
+   https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BatteryStatusMenu#Items

but because the "estimating..." text can exist for days-on-end (nearly a
week in the case of this computer) it probably needs a slight tweak or
design addition to take account of the time estimation not being
available for long periods of time.
+
+ See bug #629258 for previous (lukewarm) discussions on the lower-stack
+ issues. This two bugs might want re-splitting/sorting again based on
+ those that relate to the chrono estimate not being known, and those that
+ relate to the pointless display of that unknown data for long periods of
+ time.

[Bug 560465] Re: evolution don't decrypt pgp encrypted message with text/plain content-type

2010-11-28 Thread Sami Mäkinen
Two emails, one decrypts and the other doesn't, despite both being
text/plain. Interestingly the one that works is ISO latin 1, and the one
that fails is UTF8. Also the working one can be from the email source
clearly identified as PGP, while the failing one must first be Base64
decoded before it becomes apparent that it is PGP.

it sucks but it's a temp method to get the text you just lost, i wish
this would change soon though.

[Bug 88090] Re: [apport] evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in ect_check()

2010-11-28 Thread Omer Akram
this bug is fixed in evolution 2.32
from evolution developers
"""
After seeing no less than five crash reports about this in one week, I have
fixed the crash by removing accessibility support for the ECellText class in
2.32 and 2.91.

If ever we get someone to update our accessibility code then we can bring this
back and let him/her try and debug the crash. But until then, whatever
accessibility features the code was providing is not worth having to tell
everyone to turn off GNOME's accessibility support in order to use Evolution.
