[Bug 702858] Re: [Natty] Nautilus_2.32.2.1-0ubuntu4 crashes
OK Didier, here is how you can reproduce this bug. I did more searching on it. In fact Nautilus_2.32.2.1-0ubuntu4 does not crash when I move mouse cursor on it. It crashes when I move my mouse cursor on my side panel (which set to autohide) and at the same time icons on the desktop flicker. If I remove the autohide option from the panel, Nautilus does not crash anymore nor do the icons flicker. So it is this autohide function of a panel that crashes Nautilus, every time mouse cursor wakes the panel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/702858 Title: [Natty] Nautilus_2.32.2.1-0ubuntu4 crashes -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 697974] Re: time-admin crashed with SIGSEGV in e_map_point_get_location()
The problem isn't that I fear people won't do the work, as I know packaging will happen anyway. It's just that the way Ubuntu devs consider patching is plain wrong: there's generally no hurry pushing a fix to the development release, so downstream patching only generates useless work. I wish Ubuntu would turn to upstream when they have a patch before even thinking of applying it: very often, feedback and discussion can help understanding the best solution. Plus, if I hadn't been around, would upstream have even heard of this patch one day? This is not against you at all, it's more a general state of mind that I consider slightly counter-productive. I've tried to reproduce this with Compiz, and I can't. Weird. If under Compiz we're getting leave-notify-event signals, something is really wrong. Did you notice when these signals are sent? When simply moving the pointer, when clicking... ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697974 Title: time-admin crashed with SIGSEGV in e_map_point_get_location() -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 667071] Re: archive manager
How to replicate this bug. It appears to me that the problem is created when right clicking on a folder and choosing /Open With/Other application/ when the choice you want is not in the default list. In Ubuntu 10.10 the check-box Remember this application for folder files is checked off by default. If you don't notice this and choose VLC or some other app then for ever after that is what you will launch when you click /Places/Home Folder/ Now I just checked Ubuntu 10.04 and the situation is the same there except that even with the Remember this application for folder files checked, the choice of VLC does not stick as it does in Ubuntu 10.10. So it appears that that Ubuntu before 10.10 is smart enough to know that you don't want to use VLC to open folders forever after. PS replace VLC with whatever other application you have got pinned to the /Places/Home Folder/ PPS Comment 10 fixed this problem for me too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667071 Title: archive manager -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Adding 'yelp' as also being impacted. I'm not convinced the bug is in 'yelp' per se. In fact, I'd guess it's not. I had this problem with only the status 256 error being displayed. After trying everything suggested in every forum I just ended up reinstalling Ubuntu 10.04 and now it works fine. I think the best first step is to try and reinstall Linux and maybe do something different during setup. [Bug 177929] Re: We need file encoding select function for zip files
Charlie is mincing words to get around the problem of facing the issue. The bug is valid, because xarchiver is NOT unzipping the contents of the archive: it is copying its contents to seemingly randomly-named other files. The original zipped files are NOT recovered: you get other-named files with the same content. This is untenable when unzipping a hierarchy of files and folders, or just multiple files: how is the user going to match the weird output with his expectation? I had this problem in 10.04 (see post #13, plus a locked-PC problem). I did a fresh install to 10.10 in November. I no longer have the locked-PC problem, but I still get status 256. It's not a serious problem, just irritating. However, just recently, I made a USB-stick copy of 10.10, just so that my sister could run Gramps on her MS Windows PC. When I want to boot up using the memory stick, I need to adjust the boot sequence in BIOS. When I remove the stick, then boot to my normal desktop, I don't need to go into BIOS, because it knows that there is no memory stick. - BUT- I then don't get the status 256 message. Does that give any expert a different perspective on the cause of the problem?
