[Bug 757202] [NEW] Tray icon image is missing

2011-04-11 Thread Yevgen Muntyan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Battery indicator (or tray icon, whatever it is) is missing the
battery/power source image. Instead it shows some kind of blank document
icon (or is it a terminal icon? no idea). See screenshot. It's
functional, clicking it produces working menu, it's just the icon that
is missing, so you can't tell the battery/charging status by looking at
the icon.

I just ask to the Shotwell list why this menu doesn't displayed entirely and

I think this is clearly bad, and I hope it will be changed one time.

I attach a screen-shot of how it is displayed in Ubuntu 10.10 and

I would have expected that evince can just work fine.

The newer apparmor package works fine though. Hence I guess the evince

2.6.1.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Bug 756930] Re: Previous Conversations window gets ever larger

2011-04-11 Thread Narcissus
As requested, I'm joining a brief screencast of the window itself
getting larger and larger. The capture shows the window after right-
clicking on a contact and selecting Previous Conversations. I just
took time to put in to the left to hide the addresses. It's worth noting
that this continues forever if I'm not closing it. I am running a fully
updated Natty.

Re: [Bug 740729] Re: The indicators for gnome-control-center should be extended with icon/accessible descriptions.

2011-04-11 Thread Luke Yelavich
Originally my work did include accessible_desc API functions, however
Ted removed those, and added a set of icon update functions that
encorporated the description into the call. The network-manager applet
patch uses them. For specifics, you are wanting to look at
app_indicator_set_icon_full and related functino calls.

[Bug 757431] [NEW] gdm does not start normally, blue screen, no usersnames

2011-04-11 Thread ehcpdeveloper
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

this may affect other packages too.
I am using ubuntu 11.04
just upgraded today (2011-04-11, april 11) at 11:00 am, gmt+2

my system breaked,
gdm cannot show normally.
a blue screen with a menu saying only other, not users.
when I click on other, username is requested.
I enter username and pass,
but no desktop is loaded.
I tested with all desktop types, including ubuntu, ubuntu-classic, ubuntu-safe
etc.

I could send this message this way:
ctrl+f2, go to console,
/etc/init.d/gdm stop
startx
(luckily I had gnome-do auto run on xserver startup, so I could run a console
and then, firefox... )

now, x-windows is running (through console, root user)
but I have no nautilus, nor unity, applications menu, system menu or any other
panel.
I have just a running x session, on which I could manage to run a console
session...

please help. how to fix this ?

[Bug 693903] Re: ambiguous icons in toolbar CANCEL vs DELETE

2011-04-11 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Sam,

Cancel is quite important for users where some operations may take quite
a while to be processed, such as in Exchange accounts.

Regardless, I've set this bug to Incomplete precisely so that people who
feel the issue is important can open the bug on the upstream tracker (in
GNOME bugzilla, see the link in comment #4), and engage directly with
the makers of Evolution to work on the problem.

[Bug 756697] Re: evolution crashes the computer while trying to restore settings from backup file

2011-04-11 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 757521] [NEW] draft save not possible - CRITICAL

2011-04-11 Thread MacRules
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have a few imap accounts, one of which is exchange.
When I create mails for that account, with the draft storage set to local, when
I press save and close the mail, the mail is GONE.
When I change storage to the sent folder on the server, it does work.
I lost a few mails before noticing and I did not always have this issue, so it
might have been introduced in a recent update.

please fix this issue, losing data is not acceptable imho.

[Bug 757610] [NEW] Cannot start icewm from the login page

2011-04-11 Thread Barry Fishman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

When I select icewm or IceWM from the login screen and enter my password the
screen goes black, and the
login screen restarts. I get the following in my .xsession-errors:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
Setting IM through im-switch for locale=en_US.
Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to

after 122 requests (122 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
icewmbg: Can't open display: :0. X must be running and $DISPLAY set.

However if I select blackbox from the gdm login screen it will start, and then
I can rightclik and from the
logout menu select to start icewm. Icewm will then come up correctly.

My system was updated today 11-Apr-2011 and:

[Bug 754583] Re: UIFe: Launcher - update launcher reveal interaction to make it more accessible to first time users

2011-04-11 Thread Conscious User
@Mark:

We know that long term muscle memory for corner activation is just as
good as the edge approach.

You seem to be forgetting that accessing an icon launcher is a two-phase
approach:

1 - revealing the launcher

2 - going to the icon

Your assumption above is valid for (1) but not for (2), because (2) does
not benefit from Fitt's law and thus distance matters. Imagine a user
with a large monitor wanting to access the Trash.

Trash is very easy, in fact, since *both* targets are effectively
infinite in size. By design ;-)

More difficult is an icon somewhere along the length of the launcher.
But the muscle memory then is for the motion from the top left corner to
the icon in question, which is always consistent.

Re: [Bug 754583] Re: UIFe: Launcher - update launcher reveal interaction to make it more accessible to first time users

2011-04-11 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
So, the official position now is we have the left-edge invocation for
testing. We are looking for false positives and other problems. We will
decide the default behaviour in due course, but we will retain the UI
for the option for Natty either way.

2011-04-11 Thread Conscious User
@Mark

Okay, allow me to rephrase: your assumption is valid for *muscle memory*
but not for *efficiency*. Trash does benefit from infinite size, but
that does not change the fact that the corner approach requires two
movements instead of just one.

Not to mention that hovering through all the icons to reach the one you
want will activate all the tooltips in the way, which is quite
distracting.

[Bug 744929] Re: After auto-login, prompted to unlock keyring multiple times

2011-04-11 Thread Pete Goodall
I know this isn't a fix for the base bug, but it may fix the situation
on an individual basis. See Comment #3 on bug #745780. Basic summary:
if you have two keyrings you probably only want one. More in the
comment.
