[Bug 771641] [NEW] Active tab is difficult to distinguish in gnome-terminal

2011-04-26 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

2011-04-26 Thread Marc
I think I know what's happening. I have been synchronizing a few albums
at a time, slowly filling my 16GB iPhone. At some stage, the total
amount of music becomes larger than the total amount of free space. When
the synchronizing failed in my case, I had something like 7.2GB of music
with 7.0GB free space. It is as if Rhythmbox wants to be sure it can
copy all music, rather than figuring out what's new and ensuring there
is enough space on the device for the new music.

I.e. everything was fine when I had 7.0GB of music and 7.2GB of free
space. I bet that if I delete all music from my iPhone and then
synchronize my entire music collection it will work without any problem.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping and helping
to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, the package installation log
attached to this bug report does not contain any useful information this
is likely because your root filesystem is full. This is probably why
the package failed to install. However, could you check your system for
a non-empty /var/log/apt/term.log and attach it to the report? Please
set the status back to New if you do. Thanks in advance.

Got it fixed. Remove the gstreamer ugly and bad and install the

After that you should be able to seek with Totem when you playing MP3

[Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA

2011-04-26 Thread Bryce Harrington
Right, and 761236 is looking like a dupe of a common Arrandale bug,
#745112. That in turn *might* be a sub-case of bug #761065 which
affects late-model cards and for which a kernel fix is being verified.

So, as to the disposition of this bug report: We've factored out the
single-monitor issue Andres had, so what remains is the multi-monitor
case, where total X width is >4096. As mentioned above in comment #15,
the X portion of that issue is essentially just bug #555641 and not
something we need to track here. The bug watch on the upstream FDO bug
appears to be focusing on that aspect of this bug.

After factoring out those two X bugs, the one remaining bit is that
gnome-display-properties is failing to check for screen width >4096 when
compiz is running. Basically, gnome-desktop must include a check that
target resolution <= max texture width if compiz is enabled.

I can confirm the bug. But I don't have evolution-rss installed, so it's
not that.

Deleting .config/evolution worked for me. But I'm guessing most people
affected by the bug won't want to do that. I also installed Natty as a
Maverick upgrade (last week)

[Bug 771470] [NEW] open/save dialog doesn't remember last folder across sessions

2011-04-26 Thread Ed Lin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Open a new gedit instance, the open and save dialogs both default to the
home folder. Now open or save a document in another folder, for example
~/Documents. From then on all further invocations of a dialog within
this window will default to ~/Documents.

Now open a new gedit window or close and reopen gedit or even just drag
a new tab out of window #1 to create a new window. The dialogs in window
#2 again default to the home folder instead of remembering the folder
you last used to open or save a document.

I very much doubt that is intended and by design but even if it was
especially in case of the drag tab out of window it really makes no
sense.

I don't think upstream is very interested in this kind of usability bug.
There are a few related bugs e.g.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/86989 unresolved
for years. Gedit 2.9 in GNOME 3 is still affected.

In case you came here looking for a solution, some kind of workaround:
alt+1 switches to Documents, alt+D to documents, alt+f focuses the search bar...
seems to work in all gtk file dialogs.

[Bug 771437] [NEW] Incorrect image size reported when using Tools->Resize Image

2011-04-26 Thread Sebastian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

When using the latest version of gthumb on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (installed
via webupd8 PPA), it reports the image size inccorectly as 2 pixels or
2% when trying to resize it via Tools->Resize Image.

Strangely, it still works when using the "easel"-symbol on the right to
show the editing pane and subsequently moving to the respective image
resizing screen.

Also, it has worked before, but seems to be broken since one of the more
recent updates (sorry for not being more precise - I use and maintain
this computer every couple of months when I visit my parents).

When I get a new IM it comes up in my notification, if I answer from the

[Bug 762187] Re: recurring 10 min invalid query dialog box from google contact sync

2011-04-26 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Ah, oops. I actually meant "LIBGDATA_DEBUG=3", not 1.

Again, you need to fully stop evolution and e-addressbook-factory first,
then start the factory with LIBGDATA_DEBUG=3; then start evolution. The
logs there (which will also contain private data, so be careful), would
contain the cause for the crash. Normally you'd only need to paste here
the last few messages.

Note: your account name needs to match exactly with what you'd enter to
log in to Google, so if there is a dot, you need to have it there too;
otherwise it's a different account, and it won't work ;)

Yes it still happens to me. With "tr_TR.UTF-8" locale.

I installed this version of Natty from a daily repository. Does it
matter. And also 32 bit version is installed.

[Bug 670599] Re: Eog can't show .ico image

2011-04-26 Thread Andrew P.
Neither Nautilus nor Eye of GNOME display .ico file thumbnails that are
visible in SeaMonkey or Firefox browsers, particularly 16x16-pixel
favicons. All the files in question can be opened and viewed in GIMP,
but even when re-saved with GIMP, Nautilus and EOG still can't view
them. It appears to be a code commonality problem between Nautilus and
EOG. I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS.

favicon.ico files are used extensively on the World Wide Web. Lack of
support in viewing and browsing .ico files makes Web development work
awkward.

2011-04-26 Thread Abe
The effects are activated becuase that's the default installation for Ubuntu.
Although I do switch to "Ubuntu Classic (no effects" at the logon screen and
the bug persist. So that's mean is not a compiz bug, isn't?
I do notice that this bug is present only in my "first account setting" the one
with the "Welcome screen" if I already have a account and I just add another
one the bug is not present.
I hope all the above make sense my English is not that good.

[Bug 762187] Re: recurring 10 min invalid query dialog box from google contact sync

2011-04-26 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
By now all you should be getting for error messages should be "Cannot
connect to service's server", if it shows up. Is Evolution marked as
working online? (Make sure the Work Offline checkbox is unchecked in the
File menu).

Past that, we'll need to completely stop evolution (In a terminal:
evolution --force-shutdown ; killall -9 e-addressbook-factory), then
start the addressbook factory in debug mode (again, in a terminal):

LIBGDATA_DEBUG=1 /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory --debug

And start evolution again.

Carefully check the messages that show up in the terminal window running
e-addressbook-factory, the last message or so (or one before a big bunch
of data), should contain the reason why the addressbook fails to start
properly.

[Bug 771272] [NEW] ssh-add does not handle ECDSA keys until ssh-agent exports are manually launched

2011-04-26 Thread Claudio Moretti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

I'm not sure I have described it correctly in the summary, but this is what
happens:
I run ssh-add in a new terminal and enter my passphrase, which is the same for
my DSA and ECDSA key: the DSA identity is added, but the ECDSA gets the "Error
reading response length from authentication socket. Could not add identity:
/home/claudio/.ssh/id_ecdsa" error.
I run ssh-agent, copy and paste the output in the terminal and re-run ssh-add.
Both identities are correctly added:

claudio@Chuck:~$ ssh-add

[Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA

2011-04-26 Thread Andres Rodriguez
All,

Note that I've filed bug [1] with updated information. On such bug,
Bryce pointed out that a newer kernel should contain patches fixing this
issue. After installing the newer kernel in the Ubuntu's daily builds
the issue was fixed.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to bisect the patches to determine which
one is fixing this issue. IS someone has a bit a free time and can help
with this, it would be awesome. See more information in [1].

Thank you!

This is what I am seeing as well, in bug 767319(which is marked as duplicate,
though slightly different than this bug's description).

This bug is critical for anyone docking a laptop or solely using an
external monitor.

[Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA

2011-04-26 Thread Todd Morgan
I installed Natty Beta2 this weekend on my HP laptop. I run it with an
Acer 22" external monitor. I prefer the big screen (to the left) as
primary and the laptop screen (to the right) for email and IM.

I only had to edit the ~/.config/monitors.xml to set the VGA screen to
primary to get the setup I needed. After some updates this weekend, i
can no longer get the external monitor to work with Unity. On bootup I
get both screens with the login screen on the laptop. If I choose Unity,
the external monitor freaks out like this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK5AfUzg6UA

Mean while the laptop screen has a freely moving mouse, but not much
else. If I go into Ubuntu classic mode, I get Gnome 2 and the
resolutions work just fine. When I try Unity again it freaks out.

I've tried deleting the ~/.config and restarting. That seemed to have
helped..until I restarted. The odd thing is that somehow my "left is
primary" was retained even without the monitor.xml. When the view DOES
come up it looks like this...

After changing the text editor it turned out, that the bug affects other
text editor (leafpad) as well. It seems that the bug is not related with

[Bug 514189] Re: Paste bufer malfunction (double insert)

2011-04-26 Thread Bartosz Porosinski
I confirm this bug is present is gedit 2.30.3
Paste function sometimes does not seem to paste text, but if you change tab and
go back to the tab you were pasting in, the pasted text will show at the
current position of a cursor.
I do not have multiple monitors, and paste short lines of text from OpenOffice
Calc.

[Bug 771192] [NEW] Brasero don't burn cause he eject CDs after simulation

2011-04-26 Thread Giuseppe Terrasi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

If I use CDs or CD-RW with Xfburn all works properly. I dont' know with
DVD or DVD-RW.

So, if I try to burn an .iso image on CD or CD-RW with Brasero it fails if I
use simulation.
If I don't use simulation burning works properly but he can eject the CD.

Firt scenario, step to reproduce in my case:
1) burn an .iso image
2) in propertie tick simulation and burn prof
3) start burning

Then:
- After simulation step, Brasero says me to eject disc.
- Burning fails.

Second scenario: burn without simulation. He works properly but also in
this case he don't eject the media (see attach for screenshoot error).

In attached:
- hwinfo
- apt-cache show
- brasero -g with simulation
- brasero session
- brasero -g without simulation
- screenshoot with request to eject the CD (request.png)
- screenshoot with conseguential error (error.png)
