[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working

2011-05-27 Thread kyleabaker
First off, I subscribed to this bug ages ago and its still not fixed.

Secondly, I agree with aaron that this is a bug because its expected
behavior.

Lastly, why has this bug gone on for so long? This should be
embarrassing! Such a great operating system can't even focus enough
effort to fix a bug such as this. It's all open source, can't someone
fix this? I've seen plenty of patches in the forums for this that simply
edit a file or two, so why can't that be implemented? Even if it fixes
the issue for a minority, its better than no one having appropriate
system sound effects!

I predict that IF/WHEN this bug if finally fixed, Ubuntu's focus on a
new sound theme will become a higher priority.

At this point it is just becoming embarrassing for everyone.

[Bug 744929] Re: After auto-login, prompted to unlock keyring multiple times

2011-05-27 Thread Felix Lawrence
funicorn: I agree with you that the gnome-keyring should be unlocked
automatically with auto-login, but that is a totally separate issue and
this bug is not the place to discuss it. It's not really a gnome-
keyring issue either - it's more to do with Ubuntu's auto-login. If you
wanted to press this issue then perhaps you should file a bug against
Ubuntu itself or post to a mailing list - but you may face an uphill
battle because the suggestion probably poses a security risk.

[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working

2011-05-27 Thread aaron
This does seem to be more gnome-based, as kde and such have sounds just
fine.

I agree with Comment #77. This is a bug report because it seems like
something is wrong with the system when it can't play system sounds, and
every other OS (you know, those other 2...) does. Yes. Micro$oft's and
Appl€ 's OS's play shutdown sounds. And startup sounds. And why
shouldn't the worlds most configurable operating system (that's linux,
btw) allow us to configure audible notifications?

2011-05-27 Thread funicorn
The problem in my case is, although auto login works fine, every time
after login I'm asked to input the password for the gnome-keying. I do
not quite understand the situation here. I choose to auto login my
desktop without inputing password every time, BUT I still have to input
it once after login. Such being the case why do I need auto login?

2011-05-27 Thread John Marter
With the recent upgrade, this has been working correctly for me on the
bottom panel.

I had never before tested this on a side panel, but I was unable to do
the test because there appears to be a bug in panel that will not let me
change it from the bottom to a side panel. It lets me select "left"
but it doesn't do anything, and when I reopen the properties panel it
still says bottom.

[Bug 789370] [NEW] evolution doesn't open mail folders when started

2011-05-27 Thread Körner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When starting from a terminal, a mistake is announced as follows:
(evolution:2229): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Object class EMFolderTree
doesn't implement property 'paste-target-list' from interface
'ESelectable'. The programm obviously tries to move folders from
.evolution to some .local-subdirectories and fails to remove the old
folders after copying since the folders are still not empty. Tried to
correct this problem by removing the folders manually, but the fault
displayed above remains. The display cannnot be steered by the mouse in
this state, the single folders in evolution can't be opened. I use a
Radeon X800 graphic card. Tried to start the program after a system
reboot, but failed several times until it finally worked again; but I
don't know why.

[Bug 666030] Re: podcast file handling confusing

2011-05-27 Thread drx
I think Pedro's addition to this bug report was created automatically?

Developers probably know better than me if anything was handled in
changing the files :)

I am still running Ubuntu 10.10 and don't want to up- or downgrade at
the moment. Especially since there is no info if this bug was worked on
or not.

What I am really saying is that this way of automatically handling bug
requests with automatically asking reporting users to install new
versions and see if they can still reproduce the bug behaviour doesn't
work for all kinds of bug reports.

Bests,
Dragan

[Bug 677042] Re: rhythmbox removes song from library when external visualization is closed

2011-05-27 Thread pleur
This same thing happens to me as well but in the library.
After reinsering the track manually into the library the message "Output window
was closed" appears under "Properties" with a red ("no-entry") sign next to it.
It seems that closing the output window causes a fatal error?

Running rhythmbox 0.13.3-0ubuntu5 under Natty (Unity). It indeed is not
huge, but it can be quite annoying indeed.

[Bug 789305] [NEW] Empathy does not receive google chat messages until I disconnect and reconnect

2011-05-27 Thread Jon Wilson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I use Empathy to connect to google chat (I use text messages only, not
voice or video) to communicate with my colleagues. Often but not
always, after I have disconnected and reconnected (for instance because
I took my laptop to a conference room), I find that a number of
previously unreceived messages suddenly appear. Sometimes these
messages are days late. Sometimes they appear as messages that are part
of the current conversation, and sometimes they appear as messages that
are part of a previous conversation (greyed out).

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04
$ apt-cache policy empathy
empathy:
  Installed: 2.34.0-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 2.34.0-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 2.34.0-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What I expect to happen:
Colleague using the gmail web interface to google chat types a text message to
me and sends it. I receive that message in empathy via my google talk account
within moments.
What happens instead:
Colleague using the gmail web interface to google chat types a text message to
me and sends it. Nothing happens that is apparent to me. At some later time,
I disconnect empathy from my google talk account (via any method: shutdown of
the system, disconnecting the system from the network, closing empathy, setting
status to "Offline"), and then reconnect it to my google talk account. Then,
seconds to days after the message was sent, I receive that message in empathy
via my google talk account.
