Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm On my fastest system (i980x booting from SSD), the GDM user list alway comes up blank after a machine restart. [Bug 783735] [NEW] "save" dialog box not functional
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I've been using ubuntu since 10.04. this problem seems to be in 11.04 as well. 1. save file 2. type in name of filename to use 3. after several characters, if any existing files match these letter, the entry field is replaced by the existing file name. 4. addition entry of characters is not possible e.g. 1. i want to save the file as "mydocument details" 2. if a file called "mydocustuff" exists, after typeing "myd", the filename entry field is replaced by "mydocustuff". any attempt to continue entering the rest of the filename in 1. is prohibited. i have to manually clear the filename field and re-enter the filename. this is extremely irritating and non productive. i would suggest that automatic "false" complete of the filename be eliminated when saving files. [Bug 669572] Re: Gtk apps are crashing due to missing icons
Oxygen is not related. Even with the default GTK+ theme Raleigh, if a program tries to load an icon that is not in either the current theme or the fallback theme, it won't be able to load it. (Catfish is a good example) Programs suffering from this bug need to use a spec-approved icon name common to all icon themes, or the icon will not appear in the program. For example, if Catfish tried to load the "dialog-information" icon rather than the "gtk-info" icon only found in the Humanity icon theme, Catfish would work with all spec-compliant icon themes. ** Package changed: ubuntu => catfish (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: catfish (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Also affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: inkscape (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669572 Title: Gtk apps are crashing due to missing icons -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 792735] Re: Language selection at login overrides language selection via env LANG
This is a tricky one, since I'm not able to reproduce the behavior you describe. I altered my settings to get exactly the same 'locale' output as you: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=zh_CN:en_US:en LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES=zh_CN.UTF-8 LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL= Given that, I can start Firefox in English using: env LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 firefox and I can start gedit in English using: env LANGUAGE=en gedit If that still does not work for you, could you please try: unset LC_MESSAGES; firefox and unset LANGUAGE; LANGUAGE=en; gedit I explained in bug 553162 why changing LANG may not be sufficient in Natty. To get a more complete description of how languages and locales are dealt with in Natty, you may want to read the new help document, which you can access by clicking the "Help" button in Language Support. As regards language labels on the login screen, they are displayed in the system language. If you see them in English, there is probably a line in your /etc/default/locale file that looks something like: LANGUAGE="en_US:en" In any case I can't see how it would be related to the problem in this bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792735 Title: Language selection at login overrides language selection via env LANG -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 793342] Re: Choosing write to disc causes Nautilus to restart
OK, thanks for the info - just need a bit more. I suppose it's a blank one that's in the drive? I'm only saying that because I only have e.g. movie DVD's with me at the moment, so can't check with a blank disc. Probably you need to wait for someone to come along with a blank DVD and using a 64-bit build to be sure. For now I'll set it to 'New' since I can't reproduce it myself, but don't doubt you are having a problem. --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793342 Title: Choosing write to disc causes Nautilus to restart -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
