[Bug 423102] Re: xchat does not remember its position on dual screen setup

2011-06-23 Thread Bryce Harrington
In the past I had troubles with xchat-gnome not remembering its screen
location on startup, but now (as of natty) it seems to be working fine.

Since there's not been comment from the original reporter in a couple
years, I'm going to go ahead and assume the original problem has long
since been solved.

[Bug 108818] Re: Join/leave messages make chatrooms with many members almost unreadable

[Bug 685338] Re: Cannot ignore pressing of hibernate button

I'm not very close to that inappropriately-placed hibernate button, nor
anything with a hibernate button, but the Power Manager dialog box
appears on this machine to be exactly the same as it was under Gnome 2.

I'll see if I can get a usb stick near that machine again, but it
appears to still be non-fixed.

[Bug 801043] [NEW] locations autocomplete in date/time dialog is not intuitive for common locations

2011-06-23 Thread Melissa Draper
Public bug reported:

In the Date dialog time and date settings clock locations dialog,
when trying to add non-obscure locations such as san francisco (only
US city showing for 'san' is 'san antonio' in texas), sydney (shows up
as 'syd' so typing 'sydn' gets nothing) and london (nothing in the UK
appears) in the autocomplete filter, these locations either don't show,
or show under wrong titles.

Alternately, searching for usa gets locations in africa and russia,
united gets no results, and calif gets no results, so there appears
to be no attempt to match against the smaller text appearing alongside
the location title either.

This is on a freshly upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 system. I dearly
missed having this feature in 10.10, and call me hard to please, but I'd
like to have it actually usable if it's there now.

[Bug 799072] Re: Accessing SFTP over Connect to Server... asks for password 3 times after connection and when changing directories

2011-06-23 Thread Beetroot Dog
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 540280 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/540280

Just found that someone else has reported this as Bug #540280. I will
mark this as a duplicate.

Having removed nautilus-bzr, the problem goes away. I am attaching
another sshd debug log from auth.log of connecting using Connect to
server... with nautilus-bzr removed. Once it is removed, and an sftp
connection made through nautilus, the logging from sshd show some
differences.

[Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

2011-06-23 Thread Lucas Malor
Daniel Richard G. from Bug #507309 : usb-creator has a strange quirk in
that when it starts up, it (re)mounts all unmounted partitions on all
connected USB drives---even those drives on which the Safely remove
drive operation has been performed, but are still plugged into the USB
bus. This is with icons and everything on the desktop; this is clearly
some sort of interaction with udev, similar to what occurs when a USB
drive is plugged in.

I am filing this report to request that this mount everything behavior
be removed. It is inappropriate for usb-creator to do this, not least
because it may then go on to perform destructive operations on some of
these newly-mounted filesystems!

[Bug 540280] Re: openssh (or gvfs) asks for a password everytime I change directory in sftp

2011-06-23 Thread Beetroot Dog
This problem still exists in Natty 11.04.

Somehow I missed this bug and also reported it as Bug #799072. Now marked as a
duplicate of this.
In Bug #799072 I attached logs from auth.log after putting sshd into LogLevel
DEBUG both before and after nautilus-bzr was removed, which may help.

[Bug 779509] Re: Impossible to remove layout selected during OS installation

2011-06-23 Thread TomasHnyk
I changed the title and description so that it is clearer what the bug
is actually about. I hope it is clearer, if it is not, feel free to
improve on it. Also added gnome-control-center, because it contains
gnome-keyboard-properties that are the gui for removing and adding
keyboard layouts. I am not sure the bug is there though.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

  Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

  Ubuntu 11.04 (natty)
  Kernel 2.6.38-8-generic (#42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:50 UTC 2011)
  Gnome 2.32.1 (Ubuntu 2011-04-14)
  gnome-settings-daemon 2.32.1-0ubuntu13.1

- Description: the keyboard layout settings, when changed to new defaults in a
session, is not remembered across reboots. Upon reboot, it will revert back to
the original defaults as if it had not registered/saved the changes in settings.
- Originally, my purpose was to suppress the indicator by removing the
additional keyboard layout that was added at installation. I really use only
one layout: fr_CH and therefore I don't need this keyboard switch indicator in
the tray. Behavior is normal when I suppress the unused keyboard by removing it
using the indicator or control center: upon removing the unused keyboard, the
indicator disappears from the tray and the layout is fr_CH fine. But when I
reboot, these settings are not remembered, and I have to do this all over again
in order for this indicator not to show up in the tray.
- Notes:
- - this bug appeared in Maverick
- - other methods described for disabling the indicator (such as creating a
disable key in gconf /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/general/ ) do not work
or cure the problem.
+ Steps to reproduce:
+ 1) Install ubuntu with certain layout, say (United States USA).
+ 2) Add aditional layout via gnome-keyboard-properties (say United Kingdom
United Kingdom)
+ 3) Remove the original layout (i.e. United States USA)
+ 4) Reboot

- G.T.
+ What happens:
+ After step 3), the layouts get changed as expected, but after step 4), the
original layout is stil available and set as default in the keyboard indicator.
(i.e. as if steps 2) and 3) were not executed)
+
+ What should happen:
+ The removal of the original layout should persist across reboots.
+
+ Not sure where this bug resides exactly (either gnome-settings-daemon or
+ gnome-control-center that contains gnome-keyboard-properties).
+
+ Workaround:
+ 1) Carry out steps 2) and 3) about.
+
+ 2) Logout (or restart).
+
+ 3) At the GDM greeter screen, choose your user. Once you do that, you'll
+ see options at the bottom for accessibility etc. (note that you must set
+ your user to require password to log in)
+
+ 4) On that bottom strip, change your keyboard from OLD ONE , to
+ Other From the selection dialog, choose the new one you want to
+ keep. It should match the one you kept from step 1).
+
+ 5) Now when you finish the login process, you'll notice the keyboard
+ indicator is gone. If you open up the Keyboard Preferences dialog,
+ you'll only see one keyboard listed--the one you want.

Sorry, I've fixed that... And yes, I do agree that upstream should agree with
this, also if I've not heard something from them since when I've posted
something in bugzilla.
However this feature would be needed by projects like BAMF, also if in the
mid-time I could implement this duplicating the code (it's not that much, BTW)
in BAMF itself...

[Bug 540280] Re: openssh (or gvfs) asks for a password everytime I change directory in sftp

2011-06-23 Thread Beetroot Dog
OK this patch fixes it, although it probably stops you from using bazaar from
nautilus over gvfs-mounted sftp locations.
Although that didn't appear to work anyway.

Patch for /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0/python/nautilus-bzr.py
package: nautilus-bzr
version: 0.100.0-2ubuntu2 (natty)

The problem was with the call to WorkingTree.open_containing(file) in
function get_background_items. This was launching another sftp
connection even though nautilus had already opened one. This resulted in
a second prompt for the password on connection and when changing
directories - although it didn't seem to matter whether you entered your
password or not - the bazaar/nautilus integration didn't seem to work
over sftp locations.

** Patch added: nautilus-bzr_sftpfix.py.diff

[Bug 675951] Re: Brasero does not show disc available as source for disc copy

2011-06-23 Thread angus73
I double-checked, and the bug is not present any more even if I have not
upgraded my configuration by the time: i still run Brasero 2.30.2 on lucid.
...and well, I am obviously a little shamed for this. But I swear I did try any
kind of different CDs before I filed the bug, to be sure that the culprit
wasn't something related to some specific optical support.
So, sorry for having bothered... but let me know if I can do something else to
clarify the situation.

[Bug 800630] Re: Apparently there is a bug in the keyring manager which can lead to it not updating the default password when you change your login password (which I have done a couple of times).

2011-06-23 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

2011-06-23 Thread Gary Mercado
hi sir perdo,

thanks for reading my question.
i think we can cancel this question as this problem happened on 9.10 .
i moved to 10.04 just recently, just a month now.
as you will notice the date i reported it was still 2010.

as for my other question which you replied lately also. you asked me to move to
10.10.
today i went to computer shop searching for a new laptop so i can install 10.10
or whatever ubuntu.
i can not just delete this present 10.04 on my HP, this is also new and so far
as of today it is working fine now.
i will still observe if no minor/major problem will occur.
the only problem i encountered is the visualization in rhythmbox.
not so important to me so i am not in a hurry to just delete this 10.04 so i
told you i just look for another unit
for testing new OS.
i reported the visualization problem so for engineers/programmers in the
community can repair it so that new
linux user will not encounter same problem , so they will enjoy..ha ha ha..

oh. i have another report which i will check again.
in audacious ..
i think i have the problem both in 9.10 and 10.04.
it is the rep and rand button on the player.
when tick, it will crash/corrupt the music file/album in playlist editor.
i will check that report again to make sure if i also have it in 10.04. i can't
remember.
i am afraid to tick the button again.
it also affect the music files in music folder played during the time the
button was ticked.
i will post this question again since it is about audacious..
this is a different case..

again, thanks for your help..

[Bug 797837] Re: Evolution crashes when scrolling through message

2011-06-23 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Re: [Bug 682752] dvi with .eps - either crashes (on startup) or images aren't displayed

2011-06-23 Thread Nicholas G Cooper
The issue in Natty is fixed.

In Natty Evince 2.32.0 is able to open up a .dvi with a .eps figure and
it works.
In Maverick Evince 2.32.0 crashes.
In Lucid with Evince 2.30.3 the .dvi opens up with no .eps figure
present, and no bounding box on where the image should be.

I tested the .eps in .dvi problem on two seperate computers with Natty
installed ( laptop and desktop ). Both have 64 bit Natty installed. I
have not tested Natty 32bit.

Thank you for the response

[Bug 799590] Re: Error sync with GMAIL IMAP

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open
the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash
is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't
allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
 /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2011-06-23 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thanks for the report, could you get a debug log? just run evolution
with: CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution evolution-debug.txt ; make sure that
there's no sensitive info in there and attach the resulting log file to
the report, thanks in advance.

[Bug 799974] Re: Not retrieving messages from AOL mail

2011-06-23 Thread Cliffm
Hi Pedro
No I am not that I know of.
My connection is a single computer connected to the internet through a cable
modem. The provider is Comcast
Evolution received the header for your email but could not read the email.
This is the alert

'Unable to retrieve message
Error fetching message: UID FETCH completed'

The last message that was received came at 08:11, your message came at 08:56.
hope this helps

I am answering this from Thunderbird.
Thunderbird just notified me of a new message at 10:02, Evolution did not
receive the message at all.

This correct behaviour for gstreamer, Banshee has misused the API. Therefore it
