[Bug 807363] [NEW] [Oneiric] if I using GNOME3 with fallback mode (gnome-session-fallback package installed session), the applications menu is I think empty

2011-07-08 Thread Attila Hammer
Public bug reported:

Dear Developers,

I try using Oneiric with original GNOME3 fallback mode. I installed the
gnome-session-fallback package and required dependencies.
When I login the fallback session, and if I pull down the system menu with
ALT+F1 key, the applications menu is empty. Not presenting the groups and menu
items, for example the accessories group, and the gedit text editor in
accessories group. I am not full sure this to this problem is real, because I
using Orca screen reader.
Very interesting, the places menu is working right.

Now I unable to verify what menu items is checked with Alacarte preference tool
for applications section, because Alacarte is crash when I try launch the
preference tool.
If I try the fallback mode with original GNOME publicated live CD, everithink
is working right.

Description: After a different user (with a different appearance

theme was with ugly icons and menu backgrounds and unity panel.

Workaround:
killall gnome-settings-demon

[Bug 807128] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2011-07-08 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

You might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 355180] Re: [jaunty] screen brightness dims on AC power despite config to leave at 100%

2011-07-08 Thread quazi
I use a Lenovo Y560 on Natty Narwhal. And I see this issue every time.
Basically even if I set the brightness to 80-100% after a few seconds
the brightness will automatically dim to 10-20%. Sometimes after the
dim, the brightness will randomly go up again (without manual
intervention).

This is on a fully active computer on AC power . So dim when idle should
not take effect anyway. I have tried all possible combinations with
gnome-power-manager e.g. disabling the dim when idle check box, setting
default brightness to a lower level etc.

Please let me know if you need further information. I do not consider
myself as an expert ubuntu user, but if you can tell me how to get those
information I can surely try to do it. This problem is annoying as hell.

[Bug 807413] [NEW] Keyboard Preferences-Options-Keyboard Layout Options treeview viewport resets on window resize

2011-07-08 Thread Paul Sladen
Public bug reported:

The scrolled viewport for the Treeview always resets to the top-left
when the window is resized. To reproduce:

  1. Control Centre-Keyboard Preferences-Options-Keyboard Layout Options
  2. Expand some of the tree and scroll down to the middle or bottom of the
viewport
  3. Resize the window larger

What happens:

The viewport resets and moves to the top-left

[Bug 807413] Re: Keyboard Preferences-Options-Keyboard Layout Options treeview viewport resets on window resize

2011-07-08 Thread Robert Roth
I can confirm this with the reporter's steps on Natty, and also on Oneiric, but
with step 1 changed a bit, because of the new Gnome 3 Control Center
1) Control Center-Region and Language-Layouts-Options.
Setting this to Confirmed and setting to low as this is a cosmetic/usability
issue that does not limit the functionality of a non-core application.

[Bug 697279] Re: Jerky playback of mov file in totem

2011-07-08 Thread luke
The system load is not an issue. CPU less than 10% and memory plenty
available. The problem only arises with these type of videos not with
others.

May need to check with VLC.

[Bug 589899] Show her how passionate you are

2011-07-08 Thread Ayan George
If you have problems getting or keeping an erection, it is a good reason to
talk to a doctor!

Dear 589850,

Even if your sex life is already rich and fulfilling... Imagine you had a
little more energy... if your erections stayed harder... or you could go just a
little longer...
Or maybe you worry, when you climb under the covers, that youÂ’re starting
something you canÂ’t finish?
Well, now advancements in natural medicine are making it easier than ever to
promote a strong libido, firm, natural erections and enhanced desire.

Now thanks to this exciting natural breakthrough, you could get an erection “on
demand” and when you do, sustain it long enough – and keep firm enough — to
fully satisfy your wife in bed. Even if youÂ’re in your 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or
older!

As a doctor, I’ve learned something over the years that may surprise you — age
has very little to do with sex. There are men out there having the best sex of
their lives well into their 80th year and beyond.

And those men have three key things in common that their sex starved friends
donÂ’t:
Hard, recurring erections...
Heightened desire and stamina...
And a reproductive system that could be functioning at the top of its game...

   Lucky? You bet.

But you too could give your body the nutrients it needs to support your entire
sexual health.

This spring we announce a wonderful competition! Become our customer and win
it easily!

[Bug 807507] [NEW] apparmor denies evince creating links in .local/share/gvfs-metadata

2011-07-08 Thread Christian Reis
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure exactly why evince is doing this, but when I open the
attached PDF, I get these messages in my syslog:

[Bug 807515] [NEW] 'Shut down the computer' dialog is not packed properly (gaps between buttons)

2011-07-08 Thread Brendan Donegan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 807503 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807503

Public bug reported:

Just a small UI bug but if the 'Shut down the computer' dialog is
activated (usually by pressing the power button, but there's a bug in
Oneiric so that's not the default at the moment) then the resulting
dialog is not packed properly so there are gaps between the different
buttons. Please see the screenshot for exactly what I mean.

Steps to reproduce:

1.) Go to power settings (search for 'Power' in the Dash)
2.) Set 'When the power button is pressed' to 'Ask me'
3.) Tap your systems power button

Expected result:

A dialog that looks the same as or better than the one in Natty

Actual result:

A badly packed dialog which is ugly

[Bug 789040] Re: video play for a few seconds then a black screen shows and the video continues running but only the sound is playing. Wen minimised to the task bar and back again to the desk top the

2011-07-08 Thread madbiologist
Never mind, it looks as if you have a SiS video card. The SiS driver
has not received much work for a while now and it seems unlikely that it
ever will. You could try filing a bug upstream at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ and attach your XorgLog.txt and
GstreamerVersions.txt there, but your best bet would be to add a
discrete video card to your system (or replace the existing SiS discrete
video card). Even if you have an AGP system you should still be able to
pick up an AGP card such as an ATI Radeon HD4650.

[Bug 807552] [NEW] Top panel no longer autohides and cannot be closed

2011-07-08 Thread salsaman
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 11.04 and Unity, I have been experiencing the
following problems:

Top panel will no longer autohide, and there seems to be no way to reenable it.
Close/hide button is missing from top panel - thus it cannot be removed
There seems to be no way to add or delete applets from the bar any more.

The fact that the top panel can no longer be hidden makes some programs
unusable or hard to use (any program which uses full screen and has
buttons at the top of the screen - for example _vmware player_).
Therefore this bug should be marked as critical importance.

my webcam video still does not work properly. Where can I get these

And will any of them help.

[Bug 802572] Re: cannot login after suspend -- empty grey box

2011-07-08 Thread Hernando Torque
Doesn't look too interesting?

To reproduce:

* Suspend form the session indicator
* Resume and move your mouse so the password dialog comes up
* Wait for the Time has expired message

- at that point I'm unable to proceede.

* go to tty1 and back to tty7 - dialog turned into a grey box as
described.

To continue, I have to kill the process started by
