[Bug 395299] Re: gdm 2.26 has no graphical configuration tool
Don't bother.. Ubuntu's primary desktop teams current focus apparently does not include users smarter than a catfish. If you have an IQ of higher than 5, this desktop is not designed for you. (It's not just Ubuntu at fault here, Gnome team has had a role in this dumbing down behaviour too, even prior to 3.0 & Shell) Sebastian Bacher: Nothing to do specifically with this bug per se, but must you ALWAYS be a total arrogant douche-bag towards users who have genuine concerns and problems? I've been watching your responses over the past few years, and I seriously am beginning to suspect you are on Microsoft's payroll, on a hell-bent mission to destroy Linux. Me? [Bug 818642] [NEW] response to typing is very slow with code highlight with some files
Public bug reported: When editing files with code highlight mode set to "php" (maybe the same happens with other modes too), gedit sometimes is ridiculously slow to respond to typing. That is, when you type, the text you type appears with a very noticeably (and annoying) delay. This seems to happen with some particular files more than others, so I attach one particular file with which I experience the issue. I guess the issue is triggered by some syntax pattern. I have some much bigger files that don't cause any trouble when editing them, so it is not just a matter of file size. It is reasonable to expect that code highlighting increases cpu consumption, but definitely not that much. I've used a few other editors with code highlight and NEVER seen one become so slow even with files a lot bigger than this And even if computing the highlight had a critical cost, then more priority should be given to typing response than to computing the highlights, e.g. by only recomputing highlighting when the keyboard is idle for a given fraction of a second or (if this doesn't happen) every n-th character and not for every single character, etc ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: gedit 2.30.3-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-30.54-generic 2.6.35.13 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-30-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Jul 30 22:35:40 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gedit ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818642 Title: response to typing is very slow with code highlight with some files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/818642/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 553646] Re: Waking from hibernate unexpectedly prompts for password
** Description changed: This system is configured, under "Login Screen Settings", to log in automatically as me (the sole user on this computer). If the system is booted cleanly no password is required. So I'm imagining this bugreport from the perspective of someone who never needs to enter a password and may not know what to type. One day they hibernate or suspend their computer, and on returning to it - they resume the password. + they resume the machine. Expected behaviour here: (after a pause) their desktop appears Actual behaviour here: they see a prompt to unlock their session I couldn't find an existing report of these symptoms but I would argue given the story above that this behaviour is overly surprising and should be seen as a bug. Re: [Bug 814849] Re: Brasero doesn't ask for a blank disc
Pedro: I performed the action twice, creating 2 files. The first time, I put the disc on the tray after calling Brasero. The second, I put the disc on the tray before. I don't know if this makes any difference, but when I compared both files they didn't look very similar. I attach both files in this e-mail. Regards. [Bug 818564] [NEW] Nautilus does not remember the unmaximized WIDTH of window
Public bug reported: Maximize a nautilus window then quit. When you relaunch, it open maximized, which is fine because you can restore the window to it's unmaximized size. However it restores to the correct unmaximized height but the MAXIMIZED width. You can also duplicate this by right clicking the maximize button, then quitting and relaunching. The window opens in windowed mode but with the maximum width. Right clicking the restore button does not reduce the width to normal size. [Bug 227808] Re: file permissions destroyed by vim/gvfs/fuse
I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and this problem still exists. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Nautilus 2. Press + L. 3. In the address bar, enter: sftp://yourserver:/path/to/file 4. Right-click on a text file and open it with GEdit (select 'Open with TextEdit'). 5. Make a change to the file. 6. Save the file. 7. ssh yourserver 8. cd /path/to/file 9. ls -l The owner of the file is changed to the username you logged in as in step 3, and the permissions are 700. I hope this bug is fixed soon as it completely ruins a really cool way of working in Linux. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227808 Title: file permissions destroyed by vim/gvfs/fuse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/227808/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
