[Bug 826331] Re: Nautilus menu hidden under the Unity panel

2011-08-14 Thread Bowmore
I've noticed the same (similar) issue for unity-2d, gnome-panel
(fallback) and gnome-shell even though it's harder to reveil the
nautilus menu behind those main panels. So it's more likely a
nautilus/gtk issue.

2011-08-14 Thread Lord Delta
I have an up to date install, I don't even have an indicator-battery
package available, though I have the gnome power manager. When running
via command line, I see similar output as some of the posters above
(some gibberish about not finding a file). Interestingly enough,
Battery-status works just fine ( http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/02
/battery-applet-status-ubuntu/ ), though now I'm having trouble getting
indicator applet to remove the power icon.

Occasionally I also get other images going "missing", e.g. the wireless
icon.

Yay unity still being full of holes. ^^

[Bug 737679] Re: topics in rooms do not update or sometimes display

2011-08-14 Thread John S. Gruber
I'm able to circumvent this problem by reverting telepathy-glib commit
5894586c33dc082116049e4f136838d039285508 . See
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/telepathy/telepathy-
glib/commit/?id=5894586c33dc082116049e4f136838d039285508 . That commit
added another PropertiesChanged signal to the channel object, but on a
different interface (org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties, the one of
interest to us in on interface org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Properties).

The telepathy-glib package with this commit reverted (and api safeguards
for building disabled) is in one of my PPA's, ppa:jsjgruber/ppa

While I wouldn't recommend running this in production it may be useful
for testing to see it's this commit that's causing the problem for
Curtis or others.

[Bug 783130] Re: Missing users on Ubuntu login screen

2011-08-14 Thread LordFarquaad
My install is quite old, I think it was originally a 7.10 or so (when I
switched to x64), so the file might come from a previous version (I have
a backup from March 2009).

I attached the file so that you can also give it a try. Note that the
explanations in the header do not apply anymore (most of gdmflexiserver
options have been deprecated).

Anyway, I just figured out the bug is still present on my machine.
However this time the only listed account is not mine (id 1000) but
another one (id 1001).

[Bug 825941] Re: Ubuntu Login Spacebar Freeze

2011-08-14 Thread Hans Georg Zojer
Today I could not reproduce the bug as described. First, the Inputfield-Cursor
freezes again, but also when pressing ENTER/RETURN or by clicking with Mouse.
CTRL+ALT+F1 did not work, but moving mouse cursor was visible. This happened
about three times. Some time later I tried to boot again and this time I logged
in on console (CTRL+ALT+F1) before and entered commando "sleep 180 && shutdown
-h now", switched back to Graphic-Mode (ALT+F7). Then login worked as expected.
Then the update manager announced new updates. so I did the updates. Then I
tried to reboot several times (also without the CTRL
+ALT+F1 trick), but the problem did not appear again at moment.

[Bug 614642] Re: No switch user while screensaver running(LTSP).

2011-08-14 Thread sam
The LTSP client "Switch User" is still an issue with Ubuntu 11.04 Natty.
It does not work as expected since it locks the screen of the server
from the client.

I finally was able to get 11.04 installed, updated, and LTSP added for
testing. (I experienced several additional new issues with 11.04 related
to my ATI graphics card as well as to the DHCP server config file
location for isc-dhcp-server, but tracked in other reports).

Current test environment is: New 11.04 CD install and updated through today
with updates. Added LTSP with: sudo apt-get install ltsp-server-standalone
openssh-server
Built LTSP client with: sudo ltsp-build-client --arch i386

Client boots and runs fine. When I lock the screen (CTRL-ALT-L) on the
client, it locks properly, but selecting "Switch User" seems to behave
like "Cancel" on the client. If someone is logged into the server when
"Switch User" is selected on the client, the SERVER screen is
immediately locked and the user on the server must unlock their session.

[Bug 762058] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty after gnome screensaver, can't click or focus

2011-08-14 Thread Yfrwlf
This is also happening in Linux Mint 11, since it's based on Ubuntu
11.04.  Some notes:

Seems to only happen after the power saver is engaged (screensaver was
disabled).

Temporarily fixed by switching to a different TTY.

Temporarily fixed by reloading the window manager, or by switching
window managers (with Compiz Fusion icon), but issue exists in both
Compiz and Metacity.

Sometimes right clicking on panel, using the keyboard, clicking on
menus, etc, will make certain other things work, or all things, but
shortly after it "gums up" again i.e. stops responding.

I even bought a new mouse since first experiencing this (not because of
the bug, but because I wanted a different one), and the problem remains.

Can't someone give any help as to something to test? I know there is a
command-line program to listen for input device commands for instance,
and was wondering if there were any programs to find out how many
windows there are on the screen, or what window is being clicked on, or
what X is doing when there is a click, etc? Some sort of debugging
tool.

[Bug 340359] Re: Not a WebDAV enabled share

2011-08-14 Thread Sam_
The issue is still present with Natty. Tried all sorts of variables, in
Nautilus per url, connect server and terminal, receiving the variety of
messages.
Error mounting location: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not
receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a
reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken.

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply
(timeout by message bus)
Select a different viewer, try again.

On an updated Oneiric the issue is fixed. Just connected without any
further package installations via Nautilus -> connect to server,
flawless.

[Bug 826432] [NEW] system shuts down when power button is pressed, ignoring power settings

2011-08-14 Thread Frederik Elwert
Public bug reported:

I’m running current Oneiric.

In the power settings, I set “When the power button is pressed:” to “Ask
me”. Instead, the system immediately shuts down when I press the power
button.

In Lucid, it used to present me with a dialog giving me different
options like shutdown, reboot, etc.

[Bug 826387] [NEW] After resuming from sleep sometimes the computer goes to sleep again

2011-08-14 Thread Simon Strandman
Public bug reported:

When I close the lid on my laptop the system is configured to suspend,
but sometimes when I open the lid there is just enough time for me to
enter the screensaver password and see the desktop before the computer
suspends again.

This does not always happens, most often it just wakes up as it should.
I'm not sure whats triggering this bug.

There are other bugs about similar issues, such as #425411 and #306310,
but they are marked as fixed and this is still happening on a up to date
natty system (with proposed updates enabled).

Hmm - ok, so your error is :

$ sol
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

Abgebrochen (Speicherabzug geschrieben)

I can't reproduce that here.

(I'm also rather confused - if I apt-get source aisleriot it gives me
the gnome-games source that appears not to contain aisleriot anymore).

[Bug 737679] Re: topics in rooms do not update or sometimes display

2011-08-14 Thread John S. Gruber
The following signal is sent from telepathy-idle to empathy over the
dbus in Lucid, but not in Natty:

signal sender=:1.207 -> dest=(null destination) serial=115
path=/org/freedesktop/Telepathy/Connection/idle/irc/John_5fS_5fGruber_40irc_2efreenode_2enet0x8eb5810/MucChannel1;
 interface=org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Properties; member=PropertiesChanged
   array [
  struct {
 uint32 8
 variant uint32 131726
  }
  struct {
 uint32 7
 variant string "still another topic"
  }
   ]

These represent the time the topic what changed and the new topic.

By the way, changes in moderation are also not reflected in a signal
with natty, either. They were in Lucid:

signal sender=:1.207 -> dest=(null destination) serial=200
path=/org/freedesktop/Telepathy/Connection/idle/irc/John_5fS_5fGruber_40irc_2efreenode_2enet0x8eb5810/MucChannel1;
 interface=org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Properties; member=PropertiesChanged
   array [
  struct {
 uint32 3
 variant boolean true
  }
   ]

As I see it, the problem is that the PropertiesChanged signal, which
carries the topic (subject), moderation flag, and other channel
information, is no longer emitted on this interface for the channel
path. Thus empathy doesn't see that the change in topic has taken place.

When a room is joined empathy no doubt queries the channel Properties
and would therefore see the topic as of that instant.

[Bug 826331] [NEW] Nautilus menu hidden under the Unity panel

2011-08-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Reverting back to having application menus in the application window
instead of in the unity panel (inactivating global menus) causes a
nautilus menu 'panel' be setup under the unity panel. In turn, the whole
desktop is moved down the hight in pixels of the nautilus menu.

Test case:
1) remove package indicator-appmenu
2) logout and login again
A transparent unity panel makes the nautilus menu below visible.

The nautilus menu must not be setup, at least not if the unity panel is
setup.

Not sure what package is affected so marking this on package unity.

[Bug 762058] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty after gnome screensaver, can't click or focus

2011-08-14 Thread Jonas Danielsson
I see the same problem. From time to time my gnome gets into this state.
Can't click anything and can't focus anything. I saw this on my old
laptop and also on my new Thinkpad X1, I'm on 11.04. I use a dual-
monitor setup both on this and on the old laptop, that might be
relevant.

[Bug 718266] Re: empathy-accounts crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_set()

2011-08-14 Thread Evan Huus
We are very sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner - we simply lack the manpower necessary
to process the number of bugs that are filed every day. Procedural and
system changes are, of course, being looked at that might help with this
problem, but in the mean time there isn't much we can do.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the
live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric
Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can
work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out
more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ .
Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

[Bug 826269] [NEW] [Oneiric] Screen blanks to mostly white

2011-08-14 Thread Dave Gilbert
Public bug reported:

Hi,
  Since upgrading this machine to Oneiric, about half the time the screen
blanks I end up with the date/time bar at the top and then the rest of the
screen is white when locked. Moving the mouse etc brings up the password box
and the correct background and all works fine when I unlock.

I'm not 100% sure but I think one scenario this happens in is:
   Lock screen (e.g. ctrl-alt-l) - bar at the top and black rest of screen
   Move mouse and the unlock box comes back
   Hit escape or leave it so that the unlock box disappears - and now I have
the white screen

[Bug 826223] [NEW] fails to launch

2011-08-14 Thread cement_head
Public bug reported:

After most recent kernel upgrade (August 13th), g-s-m crashes on launch.
Don't know whether or not this is a kernel bug or a g-s-m bug.

Kernel bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/825207

I think its a illegal icon?? But why would that crash g-s-m??

The strace is attached.

[Bug 783130] Re: Missing users on Ubuntu login screen

2011-08-14 Thread turbolad
I've noticed that if Ubuntu boots up a little slower, then all the users
appear on the login screen. If Ubuntu boots up faster, there's only the
one user on the login screen i.e. the user account created first during
Ubuntu installation.

I will try the suggestion posted by LordFarquaad now.
