[Bug 840191] [NEW] Alt+Tab doesn't work after opening Firefox tab from terminal
Public bug reported: After opening a Firefox tab from a terminal, switching window focus using the keyboard doesn't work. Steps to reproduce: 1 Run Firefox, and open some tabs. 2 In a terminal do something which opens a new tab in Firefox, for example running the firefox command with a URL: $ firefox http://j.mp/ssh_tips (Or in Mutt press Ctrl+B on a message which has a URL, to run urlview. Or in Gnome Terminal display a URL and Ctrl+Click on it.) 3 Try switching focus using the keyboard, either to Firefox or any other open window. Alt+Tab and Alt+Esc both initially appear to work (displaying the UI for switching windows) -- but when letting go of the keys to proceed with switching to the highlighted window, focus snaps back to the terminal. The only way of switching focus involves clicking somewhere with the mouse or exiting the terminal, each of which are unsatisfactory for obvious reasons. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 beta, with the Ubuntu 2D session. My metacity version is 1:2.34.1-1ubuntu2 This happens in Gnome Terminal, LX Terminal, and XTerm, so doesn't seem specific to the terminal software. It might be specific to Firefox (I don't know of another command which causes something to happen in an already open window while leaving the focus on the terminal) but even if so surely Metacity shouldn't let an application break window manager functionality in this way. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840191 Title: Alt+Tab doesn't work after opening Firefox tab from terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/840191/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 827724] [NEW] Attempt to start VirtualBox or LuckyBackup causes session logout
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This started after updates were installed on Monday 8/15/2011. After the udates were installed, upon rebooting my system, I attempted to launch VirtualBox and was logged out without warning. Initially, I had found a thread in the Ubuntu Forums about using Xinerama with VirtualBox, and so I disabled and disconnected my second monitor, and this seemed to have fixed the issue. Later that evening, the same issue reappeared. 1.Description: Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 2.I believe the offending package is gnome-keyring but I am not absolutely certain... greg@UBUNTU-DT:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-keyring gnome-keyring: Installed: 2.92.92.is.2.32.1-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.92.92.is.2.32.1-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.92.92.is.2.32.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3. [Bug 762058] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty after gnome screensaver, can't click or focus
I believe I have greatly narrowed down the problem... Upon switching from my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard to another one, the issue has gone away. That apparently means that this has to be either a driver problem then, or a Xorg (perhaps Xinput?) problem, or all of the above? No clue yet. Next step I guess is to find out what driver it was using. Could any user experiencing this bug report what keyboard driver they are using? I'm sure there is a much better method than this, but doing an lsmod and comparing the output when you're using different keyboards would be one way, but that's not acceptable for laptops when you can't swap the keyboards on them. Would need to find out the commands to use to find out the keyboard driver and info specifically. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762058 Title: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty after gnome screensaver, can't click or focus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/762058/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hi Pedro, I just tried testing with the new Oneiric beta live CD. Though since Oneiric uses Unity by default, I'm somewhat disoriented and couldn't find a way to check the error. [Bug 838101] Re: Locale settings not saved
Because that dropdown list is used to set other things but the language, such as date/time format, currency, default paper size... It has been considered important to provide a UI that clearly distinguishes between the display language and regional formats. Even if the language is the same, I take for granted that French (Canada) differs from French (France) in several regional formats aspects. You know better than I do as regards French (Belgium), but Ubuntu assumes that the existence of a separate locale means that there is something that differs.
