[Bug 850373] Re: Lock screen does not pick the new wallpapers dynamically
upstream comment: That's actually not the current design. The current design is to make the screensaver password screen have the same background as the login password screen (gdm), not the user's background. It doesn't work exactly that way either though since the switchover to dconf, but it's a close approximation to that. The whole screensaver ui is going to be redone for 3.4, so there may be a new design then, though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850373 Title: Lock screen does not pick the new wallpapers dynamically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-screensaver/+bug/850373/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 856218] [NEW] Overflowing the input window in IRC causes the window to lock
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 758374 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758374 Public bug reported: If I have my IRC window full-screen and type more text than fits in a single row of the text input field, the window locks and I need to close all tabs in that window then re-open them to be able to continue chatting. Interestingly: * closing each tab doesn't update the UI so it looks like all tabs are still open until I close the last, then the window disappears. The window title is, however, updated with the new tab's title. * if I press enter after the long string has caused the window to freeze, the string is sent to the channel but I don't see it and it doesn't appear in my chat logs. FWIW, Pidgin handles this overflow nicely by increasing the vertical size of the input field, allowing multi-line entry. [Bug 840086] [NEW] When screen rotated in Nvidia icons in GNOME panel get hidden
You have been subscribed to a public bug: . In normal/landscape rotation mode I have about 10 icons on a panel. I rotate my screen through Nvidia X Server settings utility to portrait mode and half the icons on the left side of panel get hidden behind App..s Places System menu. When I hover over the menu and click on it, the hidden icon's app still launches instead of opening the menu. If I click on the leftmost part of Applications, that menu shows up and while so I can access Places and System menu items only by using my keyboard arrows. Don't know if problem is X Server, Nvidia driver or GNOME. In Windows when you put enough items on the panel it grows vertifcally and the items wrap around to a second line. Does Ubuntu do the same and I just don't know how to set it up to do it? [Bug 820327] Re: Fn+F7 cycling gives external monitor incorrect resolution on Thinkpad x220
Hi, More information about this issue: - still happening on an up-to-date Natty - Problem *does not occur* if gnome-display-properties is running at the time - The exact symptoms have changed a little, but still shows the same inability to properly set the external monitor - With gnome-display-properties running, cycling through modes with Fn+F7 looks like this (in order): ModeInternalExternal Spanning DesktopOn On Clone Mode On Broken Internal Only On Off External Only Off On Spanning (again)On Broken If gnome-display-properties is running, it works properly: ModeInternalExternal Spanning DesktopOn On Clone Mode On On Internal Only On Off External Only Off On Spanning (again)On on This is on a projector, which doesn't support many modes, so broken is basically black. When run on a fairly flexible external monitor, I noticed that the resolution/refresh as reported by xrandr does not match the actual resolution of the monitor. In the attached photo, you'll see output of xrandr (white on black) saying the monitor is 1920x1200@60Hz, but the monitor's status menu says it's running 1600x1200@60Hz. The GNOME desktop believes that the monitor is 1920 pixels wide, so even though there's a picture on the monitor, much of it is missing. [Bug 856016] Re: Brasero crashes during CD-copy-process
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. [Bug 620693] Re: Screen not locked when turned off
I've followed this bug specifically due to natty 11.04 behavior. The screen does not lock after blank. gconf settings: lock blank_screen is true lock use_screensaver_settings is false The display blanks correctly at the time set in the G-P-M settings. However, the screen does not lock thereafter. My workaround, while waiting on this bug, has been to enable the screensaver and its option to lock the screen. I will then set the screen to blank at 10 minutes and the screensaver to kick in/lock at 11 minutes. That leaves me with only 1 minute where I'm in this unexpectedly insecure state. While testing, I've disabled the screensaver options (desired behavior) to focus solely on the blank/lock issue. This bug was fixed in the package gnome-desktop3 - 3.1.92-0ubuntu2 --- gnome-desktop3 (3.1.92-0ubuntu2) oneiric; urgency=low * Fix LP: #854101 * debian/patches/01_avoid_refresh_on_config_apply.patch.patch: - In gnome_rr_config_apply_from_filename_with_time(), don't call gnome_rr_screen_refresh(). This is pointless due to the async nature of X, and the protocol already guards agains the possiblilty that the client view of the display configuration is out-of-date. Re: [Bug 855404] Re: Lock screen after setting in Screen is ignored
On 21/09/11 20:15, Sebastien Bacher wrote: could you stop gnome-settings-daemon, run it from a command line with --debug, get the issue and copy the log to the bug? I may need more specific instructions on how to do that. When i tried it using logical-to-me means, it just respawned; before noticing that I ran it from the commandline with --debug, it did some stuff (log included below fwiw) and then exited.
