[Bug 277404] Re: hp laserjet postscript text print does not print some characters

2011-09-22 Thread Roger
I've posted this over in freedesktop bug #19640 as well. (See
references at top of page.)

My printer is a HP M1522NF

I'm seeing a similar bug to this too, except only one or two fonts are
replaced with a square/rectangle char.

Changing postscript level within the ppd file only works around the
problem.

I first noticed this with using Abiword. Open abiword and enter the
available chars of the alphabet with numbers (ie. ABC..., abc...,
123...) and print using cups. Even printing to file and transfering
the .ps file to and printing from Windows shows this problem.

Another method to find the problem, is create or view a webpage using
utf-8 and print a list of chars (similar to above). I happened across
this method by finding and randomly printing a website within Seamonkey.

www-client/seamonkey-2.3.1-2.3.3 (I haven't tested the specific site since
2.3.1 or 2.3.2??)
app-text/poppler-0.16.7
app-office/abiword-2.8.6-r1
app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.7.1-r6
net-print/hplip-3.11.7

Oh, hplip comes with several ppd files for this device. Using the pcl ppd file
which specifies PS Level 3, does print all chars just fine. (However the file
printed has some unusually high margins -- but everything here is set to print
Letter and not A4
or Legal.)

A little more info, the HP M1522 is a PS Level 2 with PS Level 3 emulation.
Does this matter?

(I've got threads concerning this on the abiword & cairo mailing lists.)

[Bug 701330] Re: "Other" category becomes choked

2011-09-22 Thread SohrabT
This error is occuring in Xubuntu Natty Narwhal.
The only way to fix it was to just remove the entire "other" category from the
main menu, which isn't a fix but rather an aesthetic cover.

It seems to happen when an application is once shown in the main menu in
some category. Then once that object is hidden it appears in the Other
category. Making the object reappear in the original category removes it
from the Other category.

[Bug 857005] Re: [mines]Too many flags warning shown after game end

2011-09-22 Thread Jeremy Bicha
There is not enough information in your description for me to figure out
how to get new yellow circles to show up after a bomb is clicked.

[Bug 857005] Re: [mines]Too many flags warning shown after game end

2011-09-22 Thread Fido
If the tile has a number (still invisible) it will happen.
I think the jist of it is to set a condition like: if a bomb was found don't
draw any new 'too many flags' circles.

[Bug 857005] Re: [mines]Too many flags warning shown after game end

2011-09-22 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

It took me a bit to try to figure out how to reproduce this. I think
this happens when you flag tiles that don't have either a number or a
mine. So it shows just the yellow circle but not the number. This might
be correct behavior.

[Bug 856988] [NEW] totem cannot play quicktime file after upgrade to oneiric

2011-09-22 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

Totem can't play quicktime files on a PC upgraded from natty to oneiric.
On a VM with oneiric installed from scratch, however, totem can play the
same files, so it seems to be a configuration error. Both the PC and VM
run 64 bit oneiric, have the same kernel version, and both have ia32
libs installed

A sample file that fails to play can be found in comment 5 of bug
#851481.

On the PC that fails to play the files, totem prompts to install the
plugin for 'Quicktime demuxer' but then gnome-codec-install can't find a
suitable plugin.

On the VM that *can* play the files, totem prompted to install the same
plugin and gnome-codec-install found and installed gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
and gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad. (These are both already installed on the
PC that cannot play the files.)

The output from gst-launch-0.10 uridecodebin=file:///
is:

Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
WARNING: from element /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0: No

I have tried reinstalling all the installed gstreamer packages as well
totem, but to no avail.

How does gstreamer match plugins against the video type, eg
'video/quicktime, variant=(string)iso'?

[Bug 817980] Re: metacity crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2011-09-22 Thread Jeffrey Tees
Occurred when I attempted to run vlc - which hasn't worked since I
upgraded to 11.10. I try it every time I update, on gnome-shell it just
comes up weird and unusable, when I run it in unity I get this error
instead.

[Bug 728525] Re: benchmark window is not descriptive enough

2011-09-22 Thread Neal McBurnett
I can confirm the first aspect of the bug for Natty - there is an "are
you sure" confirmation dialog about doing a read-write test, but no hint
as to whether it is destructive, or how it would manage to avoid
overwriting real files. I assume it needs to have a good understanding
of the file system in order to do that, but of course the file system
could be new or experimental, so some clarity would help. I haven't
tried Oneiric, but I doubt it has changed since I see no related bug in
the gnome bugzilla:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=specific&order=relevance+desc&bug_status=__all__&product
=gnome-disk-utility&content=benchmark

The second issue is a duplicate of bug 794929, where it is more fully
discussed.

So there is for most people no reason to switch to Evolution anymore.
And this should not have been a reason to not get use to Ubuntu since

[Bug 416368] Re: Horizontal lines during playback

2011-09-22 Thread Matthew Roy
I hate to dig up an old report, but I am also encountering a nearly
identical issue using Natty and Gstreamer running the video with "gst-
launch playbin uri=file:///path/to/file" produces the same or a similar
rendering error in which the frame is torn.

This happens more often (or is more noticeable) on lower resolution
video.

I am getting this issue both with the nVidia proprietary drivers on a
GTX460 and open sources drivers on an Intel Chipset (Core i3 era) when
the graphics card is removed.

[Bug 856016] Re: Brasero crashes during CD-copy-process

2011-09-22 Thread Steff
Even if apport is started /var/crash keeps empty. Instead it claims that
the debug-symbols were missing. But there is no package available with
debug-symbols for Brasero.

Nevertheless the attached file is created with Braseros built-in debug-
function. It should contain a lot of information. So reopening the bug
would be helpful.

when using apt-get source libglib2.0-0, and adding -flto to the CFLAGS

./.libs/libglib-2.0.so: undefined reference to `__open_too_many_args'
./.libs/libglib-2.0.so: undefined reference to `__open_missing_mode'

which are errors generated by FORTIFY_SOURCE. it's currently unknown if
these are true positives from FORTIFY_SOURCE that are somehow missed
without LTO, or are false positives due to codegen issues when enabling
LTO.

[Bug 856732] Re: gnome-user-share fails to discover a port for webdav server

2011-09-22 Thread Ubuntu QA's Bug Bot
The attachment "Debdiff adding patch to fix port discovery for starting
Apache from gnome-user-share" of this bug report has been identified as
being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has
been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully
sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in fact not a patch you
can resolve this situation by removing the tag 'patch' from the bug
report and editing the attachment so that it is not flagged as a patch.
Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu-sponsors please also
unsubscribe the team from this bug report.

[Bug 856684] [NEW] Workspace switcher occasionally causes windows to shift one workspace rightward when switching workspaces rapidly

2011-09-22 Thread Adam DiCarlo
Public bug reported:

I have a very high key repeat rate set. This might have a lot to do with
this bug.

When I hold down CTRL+ALT and then hold down Left/Right arrow keys to
very quickly slide through all the workspaces (I currently have 5x2
workspaces), every fifth time or so all the workspaces will shift
rightward. So all my windows that were on workspace 1 are now on
workspace 2 and so on. (This happens to each row of workspaces.)

I'm running:
* Ubuntu 11.04.
* gnome-panel:
 Installed: 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu6.5

I don't expect my windows to all changes workspaces on their own. Is
there a race condition causing this maybe?

This also happened to me on Lucid and Maverick. Couldn't find any other
reports of this bug.

Adam

[Bug 856716] [NEW] Copy dialog prevents new Nautilus windows to be opened with starter

2011-09-22 Thread Zordid
Public bug reported:

When long running copy/move operations are in progress and ALL other
"normal" Nautilus windows are closed, leaving only the one operation
dialog open - the Ubuntu starter will not open any new "normal" Nautilus
windows to work with when pressing the starter icon!

The one remaining dialog is counted as a regular Nautilus window which is
brought to the front - that's all!
Because this dialog does not have a menu, it is impossible to get a new window
