[Bug 99675] Re: System incredibly slow after suspend, refuses to restart
Im getting this in natty too, or something similar. Suspend/resume work fine and are fast, but after resuming, hard drive access speed is limited to ~4MB/s. USB hard drives plugged into the system are not affected though. It's not quite unusable, but extremely frustrating when doing anything with the hard drive. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99675 Title: System incredibly slow after suspend, refuses to restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/99675/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 863794] [NEW] metacity-message reload-theme fails silently
Public bug reported: The command 'metacity-message reload-theme' should reload the present theme. However this is not happening. I am in the process of creating a Metacity v1 theme. When testing the theme with 'metacity-theme-viewer' certain features of the theme (any theme) such as the different images displayed for the different states of the buttons are not shown. You must set your window themes to the theme being tested to test such operations. This is what 'metacity-message reload-theme' should do. However, if a change is made to the theme and the metacity-message command is issued, the changes do not show on the currently loaded theme. I must, each and every time manually reload the theme from the desktop preferences dialog. [Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups
** Description changed: - Why this bug is not logged under Unity: - The root cause of this bug is the function gdk_screen_get_primary_monitor. Unfortunately it is designed in a way such that it returns the same value 0 if the primary monitor is the first monitor, or if there is no primary monitor set at all. And quite often monitor zero is in fact the one on the right. - - In Ubuntu 11.10 this is resolved by being able to drag the little panel - bar in your display settings to the desired screen. This is a nice - graphical way of telling the system what you primary monitor is. - WORKAROUND FOR 11.04: There are two ways to configure the primary monitor in Ubuntu 11.04... Permanent workaround (requires logging back in again): Edit ~/.config/monitors.xml, find the monitor you want the launcher to display on and change: no to: yes Now log out and log in again. Temporary workaround (no logout required): Open a Terminal window and... 1. Run "xrandr" to find the NAME of the output you would like to make primary. 2. Run: xrandr --output NAME --primary && nohup unity --replace & ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Binary package hint: unity In my particular configuration I have an external monitor hooked up to my laptop on the left of the laptop display. The unity bar is ending up on the laptop display though making it in the middle of the two monitors. This makes it quite difficult to activate the bar with a full screen application open on the laptop (hitting the upper left pixel of that monitor without going over). I think it would make more sense to make it configurable which monitor the bar ends up on, or at least look at the orientation of the monitors when determining where to put the bar. [Bug 853349] Re: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGABRT in gcm_prefs_profile_remove_cb()
Still partially an issue. I am able to get the "Remove Profile" button active even though no profile is selected, however pressing it now seems safe. Somebody added a NULL check somewhere without fixing the root cause :) Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the Color applet and select a device. 2. Click "Add Profile" and then "Add" (it doesn't matter which profile you add). The new profile should be the one whose radio button is selected. 3. Click on the new, selected profile and click "Remove Profile" The original, default profile should now have its radio button selected, but the element itself does not have focus. The "Remove Profile" button is still clickable, even though none of the profiles have focus. Importance should be Minor, as this has gone from a crasher to a minor UI inconsistency. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/853349 Title: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGABRT in gcm_prefs_profile_remove_cb() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/853349/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 838792] Re: "Restart" logs out, even when there are no other people logged in
I had the same bug, and in my case, I manually stopped the plexmediaserver (which I had manually installed) before trying to shutdown. This solved the problem. My guess is that there is a daemon process running as a user that gnome-session sees as being logged in. I'm not sure how gnome-session determines which user sessions are safe to terminate, but stopping this process let my machine shutdown and reboot normally. I'm not really sure this is a bug with gnome-session so much as it is a bug with other packages starting daemons that show up as actual users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838792 Title: "Restart" logs out, even when there are no other people logged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-session/+bug/838792/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 854624] Re: [oneiric] suspend/hibernate not performed according to "Power Settings"
This issue still exists as of this post on Gnome 3.2.0. My laptop suspends after an unknown period of time regardless of the settings I choose in Power Settings. [Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups
@Andrea: ok. Although I understand this can be a sane default, just ignoring X primary monitor seems too much. There are several reasonable configurations where the primary should get the panel, no matter where it is. E.g configuration used when you need to copy/read from a secondary monitor placed on the left (like my case), configurations where you put your laptop on the left of your big monitor (because there is no space on your desk on the right for instance etc...). I understand that if the panel is not on the left-most monitor it makes it difficult to just fling your mouse on the top-left corner and display the application menu but still. A much better solution would be to make the top-left corner of the primary monitor (with the panel) block the mouse pointer or put some kind of slight edge resistance... The semantics of primary monitor is, "the monitor which is just in front of me, where I want stuff to be displayed". Ignoring that won't cut it in many situations. Plus that makes the "black bar" in the Display property completely useless and confusing. Anyway I've patched it locally (see rev. http://bazaar.launchpad.net /~unity-team/unity/trunk/revision/1609 for those interested) to suit my needs but I'm just curious to see how this design issue will be solved.
