[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions
@yorugecko: Viewed the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuL2RGTnl1I. Could you be more specific regarding what you mean by "a partial upgrade"? I seem to have the bug over multiple desktop versions of Ubuntu 11.10 with GIMP and two Genius Mousepad 8x6 tablets. For me the symptoms are least using XUBUNTU desktop but still present. It takes me maybe a minute to 90 seconds for it to show up drawing in pencil mode doing fast circles by hand. Could you try scribbling for about three minutes just in pencil mode and see what happens rather than jumping around different functions. If the problem doesn't show up then give us a rundown on what you did to fix it. If you have a fix go over to www.davidrevoy.com and tell David so he can test and post it on his blog. He is the art director for the Blender Foundation and a lot of people in the computer graphics art community are pulling their hair out over this. He has a setup for installing and modifying Linux Mint ver. 11.04 to prevent having various annoying bugs. [Bug 887009] [NEW] 'man 1 gnome-keyring-daemon' is not informative
Public bug reported: 'man 1 gnome-keyring-daemon' is not informative. It fulfills only the requirement that thereis a manpage for this executable. [Bug 886982] [NEW] Scrolling doesn't respond immediately, then jumps
Public bug reported: Sudden touchpad scroll movement is not recognized for a quarter second or so, then causes the page to jump. More specifically, when I swipe with two fingers (as is my scroll setup - which works on all other parts of the system), it is not immediately recognized. If I rest my fingers on the touchpad first, and then move them, the viewer moves appropriately (most of the time). The problem seems to be when the fingers are swiped (they are moving when they hit the pad and the movement is registered). [Bug 886983] [NEW] properties panel should not show SELinux context information
Public bug reported: Since Ubuntu uses AppArmor by default, the nautilus properties panel shouldn't show the SELinux context information. This is technical information that is useless to the user on a default Ubuntu installation. We could simply remove selinux from the debian/control file, which would remove all SELinux integration in nautilus, or we could figure out at nautilus runtime if selinux or apparmor is actually loaded in the kernel. We could also simply not display the field if the value is "Unknown". [Bug 787465] Re: View->Show MenuBar isn't working in 11.04 and later in gnome-terminal
Ugh. I loathe global menus, but I don't want a menubar on my terminal. Could we maybe just have a dialog box pop up when you uncheck "show menu bar" explaining that if you remove the menu, you'll have to get it back by alt-clicking, or running something in the command line, or whatever? I think it's safe to assume that if a user wants a terminal and doesn't want a menu bar, that we can probably relax the "usability requirements" a little. This might not be the best approach for, say, Evolution, but this is the terminal. If you want to muck around in the terminal, you'd better know what you're doing anyway. [Bug 886936] [NEW] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0 empty
Public bug reported: Hi, I am desperately trying to get an external commercial Linux program (Bibble5) run under Oneiric, which was still working under Natty. One of the problems is that the program tries to find the 32 bit libraries under /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0, which is effectively empty. The machine therefore links against the 64 bit versions, which results in a crash. Interestingly, dpkg shows % dpkg -S /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0 libgtk2.0-0:i386: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gtk-2.0 a package called libgtk2.0-0:i386 Does dpkg now support packages of different architectures? [Bug 694910] Re: Regression: patch to bug 539477 breaks Super+P keybindings
Correction: one now needs to disable the media keys plugin instead of the xrandr plugin (using dconf) to prevent p being stolen. This new fix breaks different things to before. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity ** Description changed: I arrange non-overlapping icons on my desktop for tasks that I am working on or files I want to read later. When I boot the next time the bottom 'row' of icons are moved upwards, on top of icons above them, making it difficult to work with them. This is a 'polish' bug - reducing the predictable usability of Unity. I can 'work around it' by moving files/folders off of the desktop but it isn't the way I find 'natural' (for me) to treat a "desktop" - I expect the things on my "desk" will remain where I left them the previous time I was working there ;-) James + --- + ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 + Architecture: i386 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) + Package: nautilus 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu2 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 + Tags: oneiric running-unity + Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-14 (23 days ago) + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare ** Attachment added: "Dependencies.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886667/+attachment/2587698/+files/Dependencies.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886667 Title: boot moves desktop icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/886667/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 592082] Re: Evince crashes with SIGSEGV in ev_metadata_get_string
I experience this crash as well, using evince 2.30.3-0ubuntu1.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 (not upgraded from a previous installation). The system uses LDAP for authentication (a server beyond my control, BTW), and this error occurs with some users but not others. Errors reported on the console and stack trace are virtually identical to that originally described by the original reporter (aside from my system being in US English). The suggestion by Superna fails with: @ubuntu:~$ touch .gnome2/evince/last_settings touch: cannot touch `.gnome2/evince/last_settings': No such file or directory On closer inspection, the directory ~/.gnome2/evince doesn't exist. Creating the directory ~/.gnome2/evince followed by the touch command succeeds, and evince appears to work. However, mucking around with a command line shouldn't be necessary for a simple PDF viewer to function. Reopening the bug. Please be aware that it is NOT possible to check on this system if a newer version of evince (e.x. that of a newer Ubuntu release) would function properly - the video card in this system is antiquated and can't properly run X in newer versions of Ubuntu. ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592082 Title: Evince crashes with SIGSEGV in ev_metadata_get_string To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/592082/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 820545] [NEW] "Add Event" on messaging menu just launches Evolution calender
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Version - 11.04 64-bit Not sure what package Time Menu is in, though it may be an Evolution bug What I did - Open Time Menu, select a date and press "New Event" What I expected - Evolution "New Event" dialog would open, already set to date selected on Time Menu Calender What happened - Evolution calender opened, no "New event" dialog and the calender was not even set to the date I had picked This is important because the calender allows you to pick a date before you click "New Event" (with the default date set to today). If the "New Event" function only opens Evolution calender in a generic way, the selectable date calender becomes useless and so the whole thing seems unprofessional. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- "Add Event" on messaging menu just launches Evolution calender https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
