There seem to be quite a few people experiencing this bug. I am getting it myself, on 32-bit Natty (11.04). You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi I hope this is the right place to submit a bug - never done it before. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and gnome classic. I have an eyesight problem so have set everything to large. As I go to applications/system tools/system settings a window opens with Appearance, Mouse, Keybaord, Network etc. The problem is that as I move my pointer over an icon - the pointer disappears when it's over the icon. I find this makes it really awkward to use especially as sometimes I run in high contrast and when the icon changes colour to show the mouse is over it - it wipes out the background colour. I have tried several themes but no change. I have also asked around on my local Linux mailing list and nobody can find a fix. Could we make it such that the pointer never disappears ever? - I feel it makes it very difficult to use if (like me) you're very short sighted. [Bug 892282] [NEW] In Xubuntu totem doesn't play sound in some videos
Public bug reported: In Xubuntu totem fails to play sound in some avi and mkv files. VLC plays sound in this files just fine. Sometimes the sound is just absent, sometimes I can hear only the noise. The problem is quite random - the same file may work one day and dosn't work few hours later. If I opening it several times it may start working after few attempts (or not). Probably this is the same problem as #267441. Unfortunately I have no idea how to provide details, which may help to localize the problem. Following the procedure in this forum post, seems to solve the issue. At least for me it does the trick. Del key works as expected (sending file to trashcan) when a file is selected, but in rename mode it deletes the text and not the file. http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11075004postcount=3 Any affected user can confirm this works? FYI update: The part where the Desktop was affected by flying windows and being unable to select things as reported by Matthew Meyer (osarusan) and trischan (cvargas-z) turned out to be a separate bug from this one. Triggered by using xsetwacom to set the stylus or eraser to Button 1 1, which is the driver default. Bug was found a couple of weeks ago and fixed upstream: http://linuxwacom.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=linuxwacom/xf86 -input-wacom;a=commit;h=20958f84eef0b40f91e4559099f342f28650c183 The fix is now in the just released xf86-input-wacom-0.12.0 tar. So this bug does appear to be Gimp specific. Thanks for pointing that out. After switching my mouse-mode to Disabled, the mouse behaves now correctly. The design team flagged this as a possible critical issue for us to solve in the development release (and SRU to natty and/or oneiric, if the fixes are suitable and appropriate to backport). However, I notice this report only has comments from natty users, so I am wondering if this issue might have gotten solved in oneiric? (I haven't seen it on oneiric, but then I don't recall ever seeing it on natty either.) So if someone has oneiric installed and still sees this same bug, please indicate your verification (and post a gsd log as seb128 requested). To get this resolved, we need someone running the precise development version who can test fixes for us. not really... what you see there is that the toolbar has a gradiant and the sidebar not... Looks like in the recent refactoring work they forgot to check the rr_outputs pointer before dereferencing it. Easy enough to check for this situation and bail, but not 100% this is the right way to solve this bug.
