[Bug 907394] [NEW] Keys don't repeat although it is enabled.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After a default install on a Dell T7500 (probably not relevant), I found that key presses did not repeat when a key was held down. I checked the setting in the Keyboard control panel, and it was ENABLED. I googled it and found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1068482 So it would seem this has been around for a while? For me, deselecting the "Key presses repeat when key is held down" and then reselecting it fixed the problem immediately. 1. Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 2. Whatever comes by default 3. I expected key presses to repeat when a key is held down (by default). 4. Instead, holding a key caused a single keystroke. [Bug 830348] Re: desktop contents briefly visible on resume from suspend before lock dialog
(thanks, in advance, everyone for all the gratuitous hard work that makes Ubuntu great). I'm using Oneiric x64 on a Vaio VPCZ13KGX and this has been a problem for me as well. However it only manifests when resuming from sleep/suspend. I am using UnityUI in the default 3D-mode, and have the Intel GPU enabled only (not using the nVIDIA GPU at all). I can see the desktop's contents for up to 2 seconds sometimes and can interact with the desktop before the lockscreen dialog appears. It would appear to be as simple as the suspend occurs before the gnome lock event. Is re-ordering that a simple twiddle of some config files somewhere or is it worse than that? [Bug 212789] Re: gvfs fuse mount is not functional after logout and subsequent login
I'd like to confirm sighting of the .gvfs "Transport endpoint is not connected" bug in Xubuntu 11.10 Oneiric. The problem is as described in the post from 2008-06-20 in this thread: Thunar won't show the contents of /home/ubuntu, due to the issue with .gvfs . And ls -la of /home/ubuntu shows broken permissions for .gvfs : d? ? ? ? ? ? .gvfs Additionally, I see the same broken permissions on /etc/mtab and ~/.bash_history . I can "fix" the broken permissions on ~/.gvfs with "umount .gvfs". But, due to the corruption related to .bash_history , Thunar still will not display the contents of $HOME. It fails with: Error stating file '/home/ubuntu/.bash_history': Input/output error. Corruption in mtab prevents Thunar from displaying the contents of /etc : "Error stating file '/etc/mtab': Input/output error." On the command line, a simple attempt to see what's in mtab with "sudo cat /etc/mtab" results in: cat: /etc/mtab: Input/output error Now, I'm far from an expert in these matters. But I suspect that losing I/O access to mtab, even for root, is not a good or desirable feature. I'm running a more or less out-of-the-"box" Xubuntu Live install from a USB drive. This is a stock Oneiric install, as installed to an 8GB Kingston DataTraveler drive by Universal USB Installer, with 2GB persistence file. It's running on an Asus branded Intel Atom eeePC netbook. The workaround from this thread (posted originally on 2008-04-27 and re-visited more recently on 2011-11-07) has been reposted various places around the 'net: fusermount -zu ~/.gvfs from eg., http://razcx.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/cannot-access-gvfs-transport-endpoint-is-not-connected/ and http://r3dux.org/2011/08/how-to-workaround-gvfs-transport-endpoint-is-not-connected-errors/ But this doesn't address whatever the underlying problem is with GVFS. It appears that this has been a known bug in GVFS since early 2008, when this thread was opened, and an identical bug was reported in the Fedora 9 forums: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=452304 ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #452304 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=452304 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212789 Title: gvfs fuse mount is not functional after logout and subsequent login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/212789/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 780117] Re: Brasero finishes without error but unusable media [no simulation mode] (Ubuntu 11.04)
I can confirm this bug on 11.10 x64. I have just burned a DVD with 613 JPGs onit. Burning options were: write directly on disk (no intermediate image), use burnproof, DVD speed 3x, leave the disk open. It completed the burning succesfully (apparently), then it started calculating the disk checksum. In the end, a message box said "manually eject the disk". [Bug 830840] Re: Chat window will not open
This seems to be an intermittent bug for men. Soon after login, the message list appears to work ok -- click on a contact, it opens a chat window, adds an entry to the notification tray. Most of the times, the problem occurs after I open the first chat window -- i.e. I start chatting with contact A; soon I need to send a message to contact B, who is online. Clicking on the contact name or drag-and- dropping the contact into an opened chat window does not work. If contacts A and B started conversations with me and I only answered them in the notification tray, I usually can open the chat window via the notification "bubble" for *only one of the contacts*. Works the first time only, then I can not open any other chat window. Starting a chat via gnome-contacts works correctly. Most of the times, the only solution to have the chat windows back is to close all chat windows and the contact list, disconect from all IM accounts, kill mission-control and then start all over again. Curiously, after I opened the debug window to generate the log, I figured I had regained the ability to open chat windows. Don't think it's related, but 've never seen empathy get back to working correctly... ** Attachment added: "mission control log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/830840/+attachment/2648366/+files/mission-control-27-12-11_16-08-24.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/830840 Title: Chat window will not open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/830840/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 909089] [NEW] Gnome-chess-error: Computer-horse-killed pawn en-passante.
Public bug reported: In chess only pawns are suppsed to be able to kill other pawns en- passante. En-passante means in chess that right after a pawn has moved 2 steps, the opponent can force the pawn back 1 step and kill it with its own pawn as if it would have gone only one step. [Bug 909090] [NEW] quick search in nautilus, based on filename is messed up
Public bug reported: Lets say that I want to find a file named abc123.txt in my home dir, I open Home, start typing abc, but perhaps I have abc111.txt, or so, so that it would be easier to just use the arrow keys for the last part of finding the correct file, the marker in the quick search gets re- positioned to the left or right - depending on what I clicked of course - instead of jumping right or left between the files in my dir. Also, If I have entered a letter, I cant hit enter while the quick search is still visible. So, even If I find the correct file to begin with, using Quich search, I'll have to first hit Esc, then Enter to open another dir, a file or whatefter. [Bug 786317] Re: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
I tried to do some more work this time using Gimp 2.7.3 (compiled myself on Xubuntu 11.10 from some instructions) And using my Wacom intuos 3. I can confirm that both bugs are still there: - sometimes you make a stroke , but you might have just as well stayed in bed, because gimp won't move the tool - sometimes you get a stray point (x = 0 or y = 0) added to your stroke, resulting in long horizontal or diagonal splodges where you don't want 'em (some kind of race condition I expect) I'm using vanilla Xubuntu, so there's just xfce4 & its desktop - no unity/metacity/... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786317 Title: wacom intuous3 often fails to draw stroke (release click not recognised?)
