The multiple messages issue is fixed though

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 921168
Empathy indicator chat messages build up in the message menu & we are not
be able to clear it.

[Bug 878198] Re: Difficult to grab window borders in unity-2d

2012-01-30 Thread axel
middle-mouse button for resizing is not feasible for touchpad users and
keyboard-shortcuts do not necessarily make up for usability design
weaknesses. i still don't understand why unity (2d, not the 3d-resource-
hog) doesn't offer decent configuration/customization options...

This is incredibly old and most likely a dupe of an ancient bug dealing
with nvidia's proprietary drivers. The issue has since been fixed.

If a similar error is existant in newer iterations of Compiz, please
file a new report.

[Bug 924098] [NEW] bluetooth-applet doesn't autostart in Classic desktop

2012-01-30 Thread Peter Hurley
Public bug reported:

Gnome-bluetooth version 3.2.0-0ubuntu2 on oneiric

When logging in 'Classic desktop', the bluetooth-applet is not
autostarted.

This happens because the autostart .desktop file ('/etc/xdg/autostart
/bluetooth-applet.desktop') erroneous specifies the
"AutostartCondition=GNOME3 if-session gnome-fallback". When starting the
'Classic desktop', the session name is 'gnome-classic' so the
AutostartCondition fails.

Commenting out the Autostart= key fixes this problem.

[Bug 924087] [NEW] Wireless causes unrecoverable system hang

2012-01-30 Thread Seth
Public bug reported:

Currently running an Acer Aspire 5250 (laptop) with a built in Atheros
Ar9485 wireless device. I installed Ubuntu 11.04 and then upgraded to
11.10 using an ethernet connection. Upon removing the ethernet cable and
using the default wireless drivers and network manager, the wireless
device will scan and connect to a network but the entire computer will
hang up, becoming entirely unresponsive shortly thereafter and must be
restarted by holding down the power button. If started without an
ethernet connection, before even logging in, the system will default
scan for a wireless network and again becomes unresponsive. I am fairly
certain the problem is rooted in the ath9k drivers but have found no
other alternative. While using a hardwired network connect the laptop
otherwise runs perfectly.

[Bug 924053] [NEW] /usr/share/icons/gnome/*x*/places does not exist

2012-01-30 Thread Greg Toombs
Public bug reported:

I was getting these any time I tried to do anything with apt:

Setting up gnome-colors-common (5.5.1-1) ...
update-alternatives: using
/usr/share/icons/gnome-colors-common/scalable/places/gnome-colors.svg to
provide /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/places/start-here.svg (start-here.svg)
in auto mode.
update-alternatives: error: unable to make
/usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/places/start-here.png.dpkg-tmp a symlink to
/etc/alternatives/start-here-24.png: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing gnome-colors-common (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
No apport report written because the error message indicates its a followup
error from a previous failure.
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of
gnome-brave-icon-theme:
 gnome-brave-icon-theme depends on gnome-colors-common; however:
Package gnome-colors-common is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing gnome-brave-icon-theme (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

It turns out that apt was expecting there to be "places" subdirectories where
there were none(i.e. /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/places) when it was trying to
make "alternatives" symlinks.

This seems to me to be some sort of dependency or package
misconfiguration...

[Bug 923943] Re: I can't hide menu, even creating a new config file or change values via gconf-editor

2012-01-30 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 840854] Re: rhythmbox randomly crashes at the end of some tracks

2012-01-30 Thread Chad Miller
A temporary workaround is to disable the Plugin "replaygain".

In

plugins/replaygain/player.p

blindly changing

pad.set_blocked_async

to

pad.set_blocked_async_full

doesn't fix it, according to my simple test. That causes a SEGV.
