[Bug 651764] Re: gwibber.log attached by apport contains private information

2012-02-27 Thread Stuart Bishop
I'm not affected now because gwibber is not crashing now. I have no idea
if gwibber.log is still being attached to public bug reports when
gwibber crashes.

The private information I refer to in the bug description are account
names. These are still being logged to gwibber.log, which seems fine.
However account names are not suitable for attaching to public bug
reports, at least without asking.

[Bug 891757] Re: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade

2012-02-27 Thread Nick Rundy
Guys, how about keeping the same "traditional" pattern for window-
controls (e.g., minimize and maximize) but simply switch ALT for SUPER
as the modifier?:

Alt+F10 becomes Super+F10
Alt+F5 becomes Super+F5
Alt+F9 becomes Super+F9
etc.

And the Launcher Keyboard Navigation Mode keyboard shortcut could even
be switched from Alt+F1 to Super+F1

HERE'S A FULL LIST OF MY PROPOSED SHORTCUTS (For shortcuts I changed
from the current Google Doc I added *** to the beginning):

Launcher:
Super (press) Open Launcher, displays shortcuts
***Super + F1Open Launcher keyboard navigation mode
Super + TabSwitch applications via launcher
Super + 1 to 9Same as clicking on a Launcher icon
Super + Shift + 1 to 9Open new window of the app
Super + TOpen the Rubbish Bin

Dash:
Super (Tap)Open the Dash home
Super + AOpen the Dash App Lens
Super + FOpen the Dash Files Lens
Super + M Open the Dash Music Lens
Ctrl +TabSwitches between Lenses
Cursor KeysMoves the focus
Enter & ReturnOpen currently focused item

Switching:
Alt + TabSwitch between applications
Alt + GraveSwitch windows of current application
Cursor Left or RightMoves the focus

HUD and Top Bar:
Alt (Tab)Open the HUD
Alt (Press)Reveals application menu
Alt + F10Open the indicator menu
Cursor Left or RightMoves focus between indicators

Windows:
Super + W Spreads all windows in the current workspace

***Super + F12 Horizontally maximize the current window (i.e., stretch the
left and right sides of window to screen maximum)
***Super + F11 Vertically maximize the current window (i.e., stretch the
top and bottom of window to screen maximum)
***Super + F10 Maximise the current window
***Super + F9Minimise the current window
***Super + F8 Move the current window
***Super + F7 Move the current window to the "right half" of the screen
***Super + F6 Move the current window to the "left half" of the screen
***Super + F5 Restore the current window
***Super + F4 Resize the current window
***Super + F3 Minimize ALL windows
***Super + F2 Run command (or Alt+F2)
***Super + F1 activate "Launcher Keyboard Navigation Mode "

Alt + F4 Close current window
Alt + SpaceOpens window accessibility menu
Ctrl + Alt + NumPlaces window in corresponding positions on the screen
Alt + Left Mouse DragMove window
Alt + Middle Mouse DragResize window

Workspaces:
Super + SSpread workspaces
***Super + Alt + Cursor Keys Switch workspaces
***Super + Shift + Alt + Cursor KeysMove focused window to different
workspace

[Bug 891757] Re: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade

2012-02-27 Thread Nick Rundy
What does it mean that the Alt+F1 keyboard shortcut is crossed out in
the Google Docs document?

I prey this doesn't mean this keyboard shortcut has been canceled! This
keyboard shortcut is enormously helpful and productive! A great example
comes from users who hide the Launcher and use Alt+F1 to reveal the
Launcher and keep it revealed until the user taps Esc. The user may want
to keep the Launcher revealed temporarily to monitor the status of a
download while they read from a window on the other side of the display,
etc.

[Bug 891757] Re: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade

2012-02-27 Thread Nick Rundy
Why are Microsoft Windows shortcuts being adopted? Microsoft's keyboard
shortcuts are not necessarily better.

Please don't adopt the Super+Down-arrow shortcut key to restore and
minimize windows. This is inconvenient because when users want to
minimize a window that is presently maximized they have to press
Super+Down+Down instead of simply pressing Alt+F9.

Using thunderbird is a good example. When Thunderbird is opened, user
maximizes window, deals with emails and then taps Alt+F9 to minimize the
window. Later user notices new emails have arrived so he taps Super+3
and opens Thunderbird. This is much simpler than having to tap
Super+Down+Down every time to minimize the window.

Why are existing long-standing keyboard shortcuts suddenly deemed as
unacceptable and in need change? And why are Microsoft Windows' keyboard
shortcuts being adopted for everything that's changing. It is better to
be able to tap Alt+F5 and KNOW you get a restored window. Or tap Alt+F9
and KNOW you get a minimized window.

PLEASE rethink this!

[Bug 566161] Re: Keyboard acts like "Fn" key always pressed

2012-02-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer
maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However
from the comments it seems that this has something to do with gnome
gconf settings (so perhaps this belongs to gnome-settings-daemon?)

Also sounds like there is a BIOS settings aspect to this, or perhaps
completely different bugs are exhibiting the same symptoms. Not sure
there's much we can do about BIOS settings causing trouble, but maybe
file a new bug against the kernel to have that looked into.

[Bug 646769] Re: Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick

2012-02-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer
maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However
this sort of sounds like a bug in the capplet (or else in xkb-data).
Reassigning to gnome.

[Bug 408686] Re: Cannot move task bar (panel) after changing "movement key" in Window Preferences

2012-02-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer
maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However,
this isn't really an X issue at all, but more of a window manager
problem. Bumping to metacity, although note that Ubuntu now defaults to
the Unity as the window manager, so you should re-test this against
current Ubuntu.

[Bug 646769] [NEW] Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick

2012-02-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

well, i did a clean install of maverick and selected neo2 (a german
keyoard-layout with large similarities to DVORAK) as default layout.

naturally i needed to change the layout when my first guests arrived and
they needed to look something up. now i have the keyboard application
indicator which allows me to switch between layouts. the problem is:
neo2 layout is not fully functional now (even if i remove regular german
layout). with neo2, one can reach third level by pressing caps lock.
unfortunately the caps lock stays a capslock now, no matter what. so i
cannot use the neo2 layout anymore, because i cannot reach level 3.

that's a terrible bug: if i would have removed regular german layout
before recognizing that it ruined my other layout i would not have been
able to type my root/user password anymore.

WORKAROUND: Ok, now i figured out what maybe causing this: If i add
another layout in the keyboard options, the tool automatically sets a
shortcut for switching between those layouts, namely SHIFT + CAPS LOCK.
So just go to Keyboard > Layouts > Options > Keys to change Layout, and
then uncheck the concerning shortcut.

[Bug 408686] [NEW] Cannot move task bar (panel) after changing "movement key" in Window Preferences

2012-02-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

If I switch my "window preferences" movement key to Super/logo (from
Alt, the default?), then I cannot any longer change the location of my
task bar / panel using either Super-left click/drag nor Alt-left
click/drag.

I guess I'd like the movement function for the panel to change with the
movement key for other windows, ie it should move with the super key.

[Bug 942264] [NEW] nautilus and history in location bar

2012-02-27 Thread Rob
Public bug reported:

I'm running 10.04 LTS i386 still on my laptop, but has been repeated on
11.10 unity

If one goes into a folder in nautilus: say home/user/Documents/aaa/bbb
then clicks on aaa you still see the history of nautilus showing bbb on
the top. Which is to be expected.

However, while you're in aaa with bbb as an option on the location bar
(top), you have the choice to middle click another folder within the
window (below the location bar), thus opening a new tab. Lets call it
ccc. Now you have two tabs open: Tab 1 is folder aaa and Tab 2 is folder
ccc

Expected results

Tab1: AAA > bbb and Tab2: aaa > CCC (where capitals = location)

Actual results

Tab1: AAA > ccc and Tab2: aaa > CCC

A minor bug but still a slight inconvenience.

[Bug 394539] [NEW] switching workspaces jaunty metacity can lose keybindings

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

2) sorry, not sure and it doesn't always happen which is why I'm reporting
3) run Synaptic, OOWriter maximized in a workspace; close app; use my custom
keybindings (ALT+N) or default (CTL+ALT+arrow) to switch workspace
4) fail; have to use mouse to navigate to pager applet and click workspace,
after which all is win

My apologies for not being more helpful. I'm only using GNOME instead of
Fluxbox to try to keep up with Ubuntu's defaults as a team player but GNOME's
underthings get bunched up in ways I can't understand. I hope this is a useful
report. If not, just delete please. /me seppuku

[Bug 934235] Re: [FFe] ubuntu one plugin is not enabled by default

2012-02-27 Thread Rodney Dawes
To fix this correctly, we need
http://git.gnome.org/browse/rhythmbox/commit/?id=bca344b8d70cf39ceb57b3654124f23cad69e4b1
from rhyhmbox git master. As this is a bit of a regression, but still a
"feature," I'm adding the FFe request to this bug. The strings in the
gsettings schema file aren't translated, and we can probably punt the
changes to the rblirc .plugin file, to avoid breaking current
translations.

[Bug 941106] Re: Random order of photos when changed the date of a photo in 1944

2012-02-27 Thread Laura Khalil
Thanks for reporting this. A few questions to help debug this:

- How are you changing the date of the photo?
- When you mention that if you change the date of the photo to 1944 and all the
photos are mixed, can you clarify where they are mixed? Do you mean that the
library view no longer properly displays them by date, or are you referring to
a change in how the event folders are displayed?
- Can you describe the steps to reproduce this? Currently, I am unable to
reproduce this issue, so more information would be appreicated.

[Bug 942182] [NEW] Disable login sound option

2012-02-27 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
Public bug reported:

The login sound in Precise can now be disabled by unchecking it in the
startup applications. However this is just a hack. Here is the
discussion on the ayatana mailing list.

I agree startup applications is not something that you would use
frequently and the only item inside is the "Gnome Login Sound" (which i
also believe is not the correct place for it either, as i was looking
how to disable startup sound a few days ago in more logical places like
user accounts or sounds but did not find it , so i had to do an online
instructions search...).

"Agree, that's a terrible place for the login sound - it's a hack
surfaced to the user. Please file a bug."

Mark

I propose that it being integrated into the sound menu or the user
accounts menu as an option.

[Bug 942176] [NEW] Integrate Startup Applications into the gnome control center

2012-02-27 Thread Nekhelesh Ramananthan
Public bug reported:

As per the Ayatana mailing list, there was a discussion about
integrating the startup application menu option into the gnome control
settings since it would be more appropriate. A user does not change the
startup applications every day or more frequently than that. Hence it
does not seem logical to place it in the power cog menu for quick
access. It would nice for it to be integrated into the gnome-control-
center.

RE: [Bug 941816] Re: in the "nautiluse" closing the window when you click the mouse on the file, right-click.

Thanks for the report, your explanation is not really clear.

Описание дефекта не достаточно ясно для того, чтобы его исправить. Не
могли бы Вы описать дефект на русском?

I don't have access to a machine with a recent gnome version right now
to test if it is still present. I also never used Gnome 3. Could someone
else please do that?
