[Bug 891757] Re: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade
What does it mean that the Alt+F1 keyboard shortcut is crossed out in the Google Docs document? I prey this doesn't mean this keyboard shortcut has been canceled! This keyboard shortcut is enormously helpful and productive! A great example comes from users who hide the Launcher and use Alt+F1 to reveal the Launcher and keep it revealed until the user taps Esc. [Bug 891757] Re: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade
Why are Microsoft Windows shortcuts being adopted? Microsoft's keyboard shortcuts are not necessarily better. Please don't adopt the Super+Down-arrow shortcut key to restore and minimize windows. This is inconvenient because when users want to minimize a window that is presently maximized they have to press Super+Down+Down instead of simply pressing Alt+F9. Using thunderbird is a good example. When Thunderbird is opened, user maximizes window, deals with emails and then taps Alt+F9 to minimize the window. Later user notices new emails have arrived so he taps Super+3 and opens Thunderbird. This is much simpler than having to tap Super+Down+Down every time to minimize the window. Why are existing long-standing keyboard shortcuts suddenly deemed as unacceptable and in need change? And why are Microsoft Windows' keyboard shortcuts being adopted for everything that's changing. It is better to be able to tap Alt+F5 and KNOW you get a restored window. Or tap Alt+F9 and KNOW you get a minimized window. PLEASE rethink this! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/891757 Title: Keyboard shortcut - shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/891757/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However from the comments it seems that this has something to do with gnome gconf settings (so perhaps this belongs to gnome-settings-daemon?) Also sounds like there is a BIOS settings aspect to this, or perhaps completely different bugs are exhibiting the same symptoms. [Bug 646769] [NEW] Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick
You have been subscribed to a public bug: well, i did a clean install of maverick and selected neo2 (a german keyoard-layout with large similarities to DVORAK) as default layout. naturally i needed to change the layout when my first guests arrived and they needed to look something up. now i have the keyboard application indicator which allows me to switch between layouts. the problem is: neo2 layout is not fully functional now (even if i remove regular german layout). with neo2, one can reach third level by pressing caps lock. unfortunately the caps lock stays a capslock now, no matter what. so i cannot use the neo2 layout anymore, because i cannot reach level 3. that's a terrible bug: if i would have removed regular german layout before recognizing that it ruined my other layout i would not have been able to type my root/user password anymore. WORKAROUND: Ok, now i figured out what maybe causing this: If i add another layout in the keyboard options, the tool automatically sets a shortcut for switching between those layouts, namely SHIFT + CAPS LOCK. So just go to Keyboard > Layouts > Options > Keys to change Layout, and then uncheck the concerning shortcut. --- Architecture: amd64 DRM.card0.DisplayPort.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.DisplayPort.2: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: Off modes: 1920x1080 1280x1024 1360x768 1152x864 1280x720 1280x720 1024x768 800x600 640x480 720x400 edid-base64: AP///wAebQEAAQEBAQEUAQOAEAl4Cu6Ro1RMmSYPUFShCABxT4GAAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAjqAGHE4LUBYLEUAoFoeAR0AclHQHiBuKFUAoFoe/QA6Ph5TEAAKICAgICAg/ABMRyBUVgogICAgICAgAdcCAybxThAfhBMFFAMCEiAhIhUBJhUHUAlXB2cDDAAQALgt4wUDAQEdgBhxHBYgWCwlAKBangEdAIBR0AwgQIA1AKBaHgI6gBhxOC1AWCxFAKBaHmYhULBRABswQHA2AKBaHgAAOQ== DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1366x768 edid-base64: AP///wAwrrBAAAoTAQOAIxN46nuVnFdXlCkVUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBGRxWjlAAGzAXMDkAWMEQAAAY2RZWgFAADzAmGiQAWMEQAAAYDwCMCTKMCSgWCQANr1AU/gBOMTU2QjYtTDA3CiAgAFU= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Alpha amd64 (20100923) MachineType: LENOVO 28477MG Package: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (not installed) ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=UUID=b8f9a113-4d51-4497-9bdc-0282701cf76e ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=de_AT.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Tags: maverick maverick Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare dmi.bios.date: 04/30/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6JET77WW (1.35 ) dmi.board.name: 28477MG dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6JET77WW(1.35):bd04/30/2010:svnLENOVO:pn28477MG:pvrThinkPadSL510:rvnLENOVO:rn28477MG:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 28477MG dmi.product.version: ThinkPad SL510 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: maverick architecture: x86_64 kernel: 2.6.35-22-generic ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected keyboard-indicator maverick -- Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646769 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 942264] [NEW] nautilus and history in location bar
Public bug reported: I'm running 10.04 LTS i386 still on my laptop, but has been repeated on 11.10 unity If one goes into a folder in nautilus: say home/user/Documents/aaa/bbb then clicks on aaa you still see the history of nautilus showing bbb on the top. Which is to be expected. However, while you're in aaa with bbb as an option on the location bar (top), you have the choice to middle click another folder within the window (below the location bar), thus opening a new tab. Lets call it ccc. Now you have two tabs open: Tab 1 is folder aaa and Tab 2 is folder ccc Expected results Tab1: AAA > bbb and Tab2: aaa > CCC (where capitals = location) Actual results Tab1: AAA > ccc and Tab2: aaa > CCC A minor bug but still a slight inconvenience. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/942264 Title: nautilus and history in location bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/942264/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: 1) Ubuntu 9.04 2) sorry, not sure and it doesn't always happen which is why I'm reporting 3) run Synaptic, OOWriter maximized in a workspace; close app; use my custom keybindings (ALT+N) or default (CTL+ALT+arrow) to switch workspace 4) fail; have to use mouse to navigate to pager applet and click workspace, after which all is win My apologies for not being more helpful. I'm only using GNOME instead of Fluxbox to try to keep up with Ubuntu's defaults as a team player but GNOME's underthings get bunched up in ways I can't understand. I hope this is a useful report. [Bug 934235] Re: [FFe] ubuntu one plugin is not enabled by default
To fix this correctly, we need http://git.gnome.org/browse/rhythmbox/commit/?id=bca344b8d70cf39ceb57b3654124f23cad69e4b1 from rhyhmbox git master. As this is a bit of a regression, but still a "feature," I'm adding the FFe request to this bug. The strings in the gsettings schema file aren't translated, and we can probably punt the changes to the rblirc .plugin file, to avoid breaking current translations. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934235 Title: [FFe] ubuntu one plugin is not enabled by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/rhythmbox-ubuntuone/+bug/934235/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 941106] Re: Random order of photos when changed the date of a photo in 1944
Thanks for reporting this. A few questions to help debug this: - How are you changing the date of the photo? - When you mention that if you change the date of the photo to 1944 and all the photos are mixed, can you clarify where they are mixed? Do you mean that the library view no longer properly displays them by date, or are you referring to a change in how the event folders are displayed? - Can you describe the steps to reproduce this? [Bug 942182] [NEW] Disable login sound option
Public bug reported: The login sound in Precise can now be disabled by unchecking it in the startup applications. However this is just a hack. Here is the discussion on the ayatana mailing list. I agree startup applications is not something that you would use frequently and the only item inside is the "Gnome Login Sound" (which i also believe is not the correct place for it either, as i was looking how to disable startup sound a few days ago in more logical places like user accounts or sounds but did not find it , so i had to do an online instructions search...). "Agree, that's a terrible place for the login sound - it's a hack surfaced to the user. Please file a bug." Mark I propose that it being integrated into the sound menu or the user accounts menu as an option. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/942182 Title: Disable login sound option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/942182/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 942176] [NEW] Integrate Startup Applications into the gnome control center
Public bug reported: As per the Ayatana mailing list, there was a discussion about integrating the startup application menu option into the gnome control settings since it would be more appropriate. A user does not change the startup applications every day or more frequently than that. Hence it does not seem logical to place it in the power cog menu for quick access. It would nice for it to be integrated into the gnome-control- center. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/942176 Title: Integrate Startup Applications into the gnome control center To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/942176/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
RE: [Bug 941816] Re: in the "nautiluse" closing the window when you click the mouse on the file, right-click.
