[Bug 954739] [NEW] gnome-display-properties mismatched RandR extension version

2012-03-14 Thread Rick Miller
Public bug reported:

When trying to use gnome-display-properties either through
System-Preferences-Monitors or through command typed into terminal, it always
displays: Could not get screen information, RANDR extension is too old (must
be at least 1.2) in a pop-up window. When invoked from the command line, I
also get the following messages in the terminal window:
(gnome-display-properties:6825): Gtk-WARNING **: Ignoring the separator
setting

(gnome-display-properties:6825): Gtk-WARNING **: No object called:

I typed xrandr -v and get:
xrandr program version 1.3.2
Server reports RandR version 1.1

When I try apt-get install x11-xserver-utils (which is supposed to
contain xrandr) it tells me it is already at the current version.

rick@deuce:~$ sudo apt-get install x11-xserver-utils

[Bug 948844] Re: Closing laptop lid does not suspend

2012-03-14 Thread Martin Pitt
OK, so the machinery seems to work. Can you please attach your
~/.xsession-errors, or have a look yourself, searching for lid,
suspend, power, etc.? It might have a relevant error message.

If not, it's worth trying this:

killall gnome-settings-daemon # do it two or three times until it doesn't
auto-respawn
  gnome-settings-daemon --debug 21 | tee /tmp/gsd.log

then close the lid, open it again, Control-C it, and attach
/tmp/gsd.log.

Thanks!

[Bug 950743] Re: rhytmbox-client commands are not working

2012-03-14 Thread Christopher Kyle Horton
I get the exact same problem with rhythmbox-client --play and several
other options (--pause, --play-pause, etc.) on my Precise install.

Interestingly enough, rhythmbox-client --notify seems to be an exception
of sorts; it still refuses to work, but returns instead:

Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unknown option --notify

...despite --notify being listed in the man page. (If that's a separate
issue, let me know and I'll file a new report for it.)

[Bug 954775] [NEW] Selecting in-message selects headers, too

2012-03-14 Thread Michał Sawicz
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. open, or display, an e-mail
2. try clicking on text near the top of email content
3. try selecting contents of the email near the top

Expected results:
2. nothing happens
3. only the text content is selected

Current results:
2. part of headers and content gets selected
3. headers are selected along with the content

It looks like mouse input is initially mapped to the whole message, not just
the contents, which breaks usability greatly as it's difficult to select text
or click on links near the top of the message.

I still think that the optional use global menu only for maximized windows is
still cleaner, easier and consistent. Nevertheless, i do not dislike LIM1.
Not so sure because in the meantime I switched to Gnome Shell. Will try again

[Bug 954824] [NEW] artist information pane is too large and cannot be sized smaller

2012-03-14 Thread Anton Piatek
Public bug reported:

The pane/window in rhythmbox which shows related artist information (see
attached screenshot, the pane is highlighted in pink/red) often resizes itself
to be too large. While the pane can be dragged left to make it larger, it often
isn't possible to drag the bar right to make it smaller.
Not sure what other helpful information I can give...
It isn't always too large, sometimes it is possible to resize it so that it is
quite small, but then on a later song it resizes itself (presumably to fit new
content) and becomes too large, and can't be made smaller again.

evince is not remembering my settings (view side pane).
I compiled evince from source - same issue.

[Bug 563862] Re: USB Devices and Some CDs cause gnome-power-manager to fail

2012-03-14 Thread Andres
Just happened to me out of nowhere! I'm running Lucid 10.04. I had
plugged in an external USB drive + wireless mouse.

Upgrading to last kernel (2.6.32-40) and reinstalling the package with
sudo apt-get --reinstall install gnome-power-manager appears to solve
the issue so far...

  * Add 01_fix_multiple_syndaemons.patch: Ensure that a spawned syndaemon gets
killed when settings-daemon exists due to a crash, a keyboard interrupt,
etc. This avoids having multiple syndaemons run at the same time, which
can lead to the trackpad malfunctioning. (LP: #868400)

[Bug 939450] Re: ubiquity crashed with TypeError: argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable in ubi-partman.py

2012-03-14 Thread Martin Pitt
Reassigning back to Ubiquity. The GtkListStore documentation makes it
quite clear (section Atomic Operations) that list insertion is not
atomic, and that there might be signals with None/NULL values in
between. So I think for robustness this ought to be fixed in ubiquity.

That said, I'm happy to change the pygobject overrides to be atomic, as
that was the recommended approach in the documentation anyway. So if you
want to wait for another day or two, and I get this in soon enough, you
can get away with leaving the code as it is.

2012-03-14 Thread Vadim Rutkovsky
Can't reproduce in 3.3.90-0ubuntu3. zarquon2, could you please repeat the
following steps on your machine:
1) Post the output of 'gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.Evince.Default |
grep sidebar'
2) Run evince from Terminal (to save output)
3) Close sidebar
4) Select 'Edit - Save Current Settings As Default'
5) Close evince
6) Post a new output of 'gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.Evince.Default |
grep sidebar'

Evince version (output of 'apt-cache policy evince') and evince output
would also be useful

[Bug 954918] [NEW] Missing Server input box for Sametime accounts

2012-03-14 Thread Julius Thor
Public bug reported:

Hi,

It is no longer possible to connect to sametime server because there is
no Server input box undir Sametime accounts. This happened recently
and according to a freedesktop.org bug report this happened when
libpurple was upgraded from 2.10 to 2.10.1. Here is the explanation from
the freedesktop.org bug report:

With the latest version of libpurple (2.10.1) a change was made to the Sametime
protocol:

 + Sametime:
- Separate username and server when adding new Sametime
  accounts

Although at first this seems harmless and only affecting the pidgin client, it
seems that telepathy-haze can not handle this separation. When a new account is
created for Sametime, the server details are no longer displayed. Also an old
account (that has all the details already) no longer works due to the same
issue. Adding the missing parameter to the accounts.cfg file (mission-control)
causes that this parameter is ignored and removed.

Returning to libpurple 2.10.0 resolves the issue and the server can be
identified again when the account is created. - Raymond Wooninck

[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens

2012-03-14 Thread Johannes Gowin
Wouldn't it be possible to have the appmenu

1) in the panel for maximized windows
2) in the window title bar for non-maximized windows

So this would mean the menu would always be next to the close buttons
(consistence), monitor space usage is reduced (for smaller laptops) and
the menu stays with the associated window (consistence).

[Bug 682492] Re: Evince: Save Settings as default doesn't work

After some checks, I recognised that it is only not working, when called
from within lyx after compiling a lyx document with pdflatex. Somehow
the preferences are not loaded then.

[Bug 939450] Re: ubiquity crashed with TypeError: argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable in ubi-partman.py

2012-03-14 Thread Martin Pitt
I had a closer look at the overrides in pygobject, and it's quite some
effort to rewrite them using the atomic API. I can't guarantee that I'll
have them ready this week. So you could either use
Gtk.ListStore.insert_with_valuesv() yourself instead of using the
override API, or make the signal handlers cope with None rows.

[Bug 954951] [NEW] Rhythmbox doesn't resume after Pause from a CD track

2012-03-14 Thread Andrei
Public bug reported:

12.04 beta 2. I have a track playing from a CD (.wav file). If I hit
Pause, then Play, it doesn't work. Not even if I change the track. It
just starts spinning the CD in the CD-ROM drive for a couple of seconds,
without any luck.

Fixes:
Ejecting the CD and putting it back in works.
Also, obviously, closing the rhythmbox process and starting it up again works.

[Bug 761037] Re: Evolution failed to properly migrate Local Contacts during 2.32 (Natty) Upgrade

2012-03-14 Thread David Clayton
I can confirm this in a migration to 2.3.2 from 2.28.3 on my Ubuntu
10.04 system. The files in the old .evolution tree were converted/moved
to the new .local/share/evolution tree but only the first local Address
Book worked.

To sum up, only the first On This Computer address book sources entry
was converted correctly with the relative URI, the remaining Address
Books still had the file path to the old .evolution file path left in
their definitions.

Manually removing the old uri=file:. entries using the gconf-
editor on the /apps/evolution/addressbook/sources key fixed the problem
and then allowed the data in those extra Address Books to appear.

issue, it seems that it's somewhat due to the notebook use...
