Just to clarify the issue: in List view, right-clicking an empty area of an item's row or a folder's expand/collapse arrow, i.e. right-clicking outside an item's icon or text (name, type, date, etc.), deselects any selected items and displays the (current tab's) folder's context menu. I hope this is a bug, because it is obviously a counterintuitive behaviour when using List view; right-clicking anywhere in an item's row should bring up that same item's (or the selection's, if the item is part of it) context menu. Public bug reported: I cannot use my package system at all. Whenever i try to install/uninstall/upgrade, it says "The package system is broken Check if you are using third party repositories. If so disable them, since they are a common source of problems. Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt-get install -f". As of now in Precise the workaround has stopped working. Right now I'm using an uglier but working solution: Download and install pulseaudio-equalizer from the repos, and then make an EQ preset where you reduce the volume on all frequencies by some amount, say 12-24 db. I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 (precise) amd64 , and I found the obsolete defoma, x-ttcidfont-conf, and psfontmgr packages on my system, even though my system's packages include the libpango1.0-0 version 1.30.0-0ubuntu2 mentioned here that supposedly drops these dependencies. It turns out I also had the obsolete libpango1.0-common version 1.28.2-0ubuntu1.1 installed (note *-common* in the name), even though it seems this was last used in maverick. Removing that package let me remove and purge these other obsolete packages. Perhaps libpango1.0-0 should have a "Replaces: libpango1.0-common" line. The same happened to me with Firefox. Instead of showing Firefox's preferences, I get Dropbox's. If, however, instead of pressing Return to select the "Preferences" in the HUD dropdown, I click the selection with my mouse, then it works properly! I hope this helps you identify the problem. Although, in the last time, as you see, the new window appears in the background, not in the foreground. Do you maybe know why is that? I did a fresh install but have kept my home folder. If you create windows live account from their online accounts then empathy is not connected to the chat. While if you create windows live account from empathy, then the windows live is normally connected in chat. I used Xubuntu 11.10 + Unity. Had separate layout for each window. I had English, Russian and Spanish layouts, and every time I changed windows, the layout indicator would get incorrect. Everyone who used more than 2 layouts knows how annoying it is to cycle through them. My Rhythmbox 0.12.8 (Ubuntu 10.04.4) seems to fetch its cover arts from Last.fm.
