[Bug 989893] Re: [soundnua] Audio doesn't correctly switch when headphones are plugged in/unplugged
I have noticed this also. After testing it seems to be a race condition. I can only reproduce it when headphones are unplugged (not plugged in). Essentially what is happening is that the headphone port becomes unavailable therefore the backend goes to remove that output which results in the UI moving to the next available port. Meanwhile the speaker port becomes available but at that stage the damage is done as the UI thinks the other device should be default. One potential solution would be for the backend to always guarantee that the port which has just become available to always send it's signal first ahead of the signal which will remove the unavailable port. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989893 Title: [soundnua] Audio doesn't correctly switch when headphones are plugged in/unplugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/989893/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 992367] [NEW] An error occurred when trying to change the Full Name of my user account.
Public bug reported: I am using Xubuntu 12.04. I never face this problem when using previous version of Xubuntu. What I am trying to change is my Full Name, not the username (login ID). My Xubuntu only has one user account, my own user account. Therefore, I logon using my own user account when the error occurred. When I try to change my full name, the error message "The configuration could not be saved. An unknown error occurred" was shown, and my full name was not changed successfully. Please look at the attached screenshot "user-admin-error.png". Steps to reproduce: 1. Login using your own user account. 2. IGo to Application Menu -> System -> "Users and Groups". 3. Select your own user account. 4. At the right side, click on the "Change..." button located beside your current full name. 5. Try to change your full name, then click ok. 6. You will see the error message. Please fix this bug. Thank you! [Bug 978728] Re: Google Calendar broken : Unable to create calendar object : The calendar doesn't exists
** Description changed: + [Impact] + Affects any addition of events to Google Calendars; this is limited to calendars using the CalDAV protocol, and only for calendars hosted by Google. + + [Development Fix] + Two patches to be backported from Evolution-Data-Server upstream trees 3.4/master. In other words, cherry-picking two patches from the current stable series of Evolution-Data-Server is sufficient, and those can be applied with minimal changes to the 3.2.3 packages. + The first patch supports the second in implementing a slightly different method for updating the slave states for the calendar backend; + The second patch works around the issues specific to Google in the handling of responses from event addition by looking for the added event by UID as an .ics file after receiving a "No such calendar" response. + + [Stable Fix] + See "Development Fix". + + [Test Case] + See below. + + [Regression Potential] + Small. This changes the behavior on received responses for calendar event addition. In the event that responses from a server fail to follow standard CalDAV protocol and results in similar responses to those from Google servers, an additional code path is entered to try and locate the added event by UID. + + + Steps to reproduce : 1) add a new event to one of your google calendar 2) error message shows (translated from French) : Unable to create calendar object : The calendar doesn't exists 3) discard the new event dialog 4) check on the web : the event has been added nevertheless 5) some time after (next evolution sync) : the event appears on evolution This affects a lot of the users I'm helping with Ubuntu related issues and is the exact same problem described here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11834712 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: evolution 3.2.3-0ubuntu5 [modified: usr/bin/evolution usr/bin/evolution-settings] ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-22.35-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-22-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Apr 11 11:13:05 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release Candidate amd64 (20100928) ProcEnviron: - TERM=xterm - PATH=(custom, user) - LANG=fr_CH.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=fr_CH.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: evolution UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-01-17 (84 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/978728 Title: Google Calendar broken : Unable to create calendar object : The calendar doesn't exists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/978728/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 774740] Re: Huge memory leak in metacity
I applied the patch #778727 on ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. It does fix the memory leak problem (metacity used to consume ~4GB of mem while with the patch never exceeds 5MB). However, it introduces a new problem. Alt-tab functionality to switch between processes is now broken. Every time I press Alt-tab it seems as if it redraws the windows and leaves me in the same one. Interestingly, if I have two terminals and press alt-tab continuously the terminals are moving downwards. -Regards -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774740 Title: Huge memory leak in metacity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/774740/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 970885] Re: Empathy 3.4 and pidgin-skype
I traced down the problem to one single call to the function "g_thread_init()" inside the package "pidgin-skype". As of the official glib documentation [1], the function is not needed anymore and it is deprecated from version 2.32 on, and apparently is disabled when telepathy-haze and empathy try to load the plugin. [Bug 449506] Re: No GUI option to set screen rotation of greeter
Since this bug was originally filed in 2009, some versions of Ubuntu were able to present a login screen in portrait mode. This functionality seems to have been lost again, presumably in the switch to Unity. This problem should have high priority in light of the strategic ambitions of Ubuntu to be more widely used by business. If a company has even a portion of its machines running Ubuntu in portrait mode for word processing or publishing, it is going to be reluctant to adopt Ubuntu if login is difficult for those machines.
