[Bug 872054] Re: Cannot shutdown/restart with multiple users logged in
I am affected by this as well in 12.04 and in 11.10 before that. If this is not a bug then at least a flawed design. The interface is such that intuitively you do not log out, but just point and click to switch to the desired user account. This then leaves you unintentionally with multiple users logged in, and when you (administrator) want to shut down you are in trouble. I think this bug/flaw has nothing to do with Oneric / 32 bit. I think it effects everybody. It should be very easy to reproduce by switching to Guest Session, then switch back (without log-out), and then try to shut down. There should be a solution for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872054 Title: Cannot shutdown/restart with multiple users logged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-session/+bug/872054/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Which update was that? I'm up to date and it's still broken. The only updates I got that might be relevant was for glib (and libtasn1), and neither fixed the issue. [Bug 993878] [NEW] there is no tab for access to file notes in the properties dialog
Public bug reported: The Notes tab of the properties dialog has gone away some time between Lucid and Precise. The decoration indicating a note exists is still present suggesting the feature has not been intentionally dropped. Further examination shows that emblems have also disappeared (this appears to be intentional http://ubuntuguide.net/add-emblems-to- nautilus-files-folders-in-ubuntu-12-04-11-10 and is no great loss). [Bug 971322] Re: Unity-2D/metacity window placement/move problems in precise
Hi, I installed 12.04 some days ago and replaced Unity with Unity 2D. I even removed compiz. Everything works fine except the window placement. Every window opens in the upper left corner at +0+0. After moving a window its new place will not be remembered on reopening. First of all: Is this a problem of Metacity or Unity 2D? I did some research and tried to use Devil's Pie to force all windows to be centered in the middle of the screen. Although Devil's Pie performs some of my commands (e.g. (focus), (geometry 400x300)) centering does not work. I tried to move a Nautilus window some pixels towards the center by appling the command (geometry 400x300+100+100) but only the size of the window changed. The x and y offsets are not recognized by Devil's Pie. Can this be an indicator for the window placement problem? Any ideas for a workaround? My settings under /apps/metacity/general are: auto_maximize_windows = true action_middle_click_titlebar = lower button_layout = close, minimize, maximize: auto_raise_delay = 1000 compositing_manager = true workspace_switcher_keyboard_cycle = false raise_on_click = true compositor_effects = true theme = Ambiance num_workspaces = 4 focus_new_windows = smart resize_with_right_button = false capture_before_unmap = true visual_bell_type = frame_flash action_right_click_titlebar = menu action_double_click_titlebar = toggle_maximize focus_mode = click reduced_resources = false application_based = true visual_bell = false titlebar_uses_system_font = false disable_workarounds = true titlebar_font = Ubuntu Bold 11 audible_bell = true auto_raise = true mouse_button_modifier = Alt show_maximized_titlebars = false -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971322 Title: Unity-2D/metacity window placement/move problems in precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/971322/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 993973] [NEW] In Unity, the Show Menubar item in the contextual menu is useless and the Menubar hijacks shortcuts from the shell
Public bug reported: In the classic desktop, a user could disable the gnome-terminal menu bar by de-selecting the Show Menubar option in the View menu or in the contextual (right click) menu. In Unity, this option is useless, since the menubar remains accessible in the global Unity menu bar. This is a problem because, when active, the menu bar captures shortcuts that were intended for the shell. For example, in bash with emacs key-bindings Alt+F moves forward one word at a time, but inside gnome-terminal, with the menu bar visible, it opens the File menu. In the classic desktop, hiding the menu bar also stops the capture of Alt+ combinations, which are sent directly to the shell. In the pt-BR locale, I have the same problem, but with the Alt+B shortcut, which opens the Tabs (Abas) menu. I never need the menu bar, since most options are accessible from the context menu (and I rarely use them), but I care about moving fast between words. One work-around, is to use ESC, F (releasing ESC before pressing F) instead of Alt+F, but it's a lot more cumbersome, specially if used repeatedly. [Bug 972311] Re: Accessing a MTP device like the Galaxy Nexus fails
I've tried something different: http://ohheyitslou.blogspot.com/2011/12/galaxy-nexus-enable-mtp-file- transfer.html Precise is up-to-date with the latest stable libmtp. BUT, it seems that mtpfs pulls down the entire tree from the phone before allowing access to the FS. If this is because libmtp operates that way, it might explain why there's a timeout in the GUI version: for anything but a basically empty phone, it's going to time out. A quick way of accessing at least *some* part of the phone's FS is to run the mount command like 'mtpfs -o allow_other /mnt/tmp/', wait a while, switch the phone to PTP, then back to MTP. You should be able to see the portion of the tree that downloaded. I checked how long it takes for the full tree to transfer, and it seems to be about 6.5 minutes. Is anybody from Ubuntu dealing with this, or should try our luck with the libmtp guys? And yeah, it does seem that the frustration is affecting me in mysterious ways :-p -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/972311 Title: Accessing a MTP device like the Galaxy Nexus fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/972311/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 994094] Re: Password inputed in screensaver is retained after suspending the laptop
** Description changed: When the screen is locked by running the gnome-screensaver, if you input your password, and close the lid to suspend, the password will be remembered. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1) Lock Screen (Ctrl+Alt+L) 2) Type your password, but do NOT press Enter. 3) Close the laptop's lid. This will suspend that laptop. 4) Wake up laptop from suspend 5) Password that was typed in step 2) is still remembered. WHAT DO I EXPECT TO HAPPEN: 4) Wake-up from suspend 5) Re-type password (password should not be remembered) + Now, this could be a trouble since there might be a day when you were + about to unlock the screen so you typed your password. however, you + changed your mind and closed the lid. Unfortunately, any person that + opens the lid and waking up from suspend will be able to login since the + password was remembered by gnome-screensaver. - Now, this could be a trouble since there might be a day when you were about to unlock the screen so you typed your password. however, you changed your mind and closed the lid.
