Re: [Bug 780117] Re: Brasero finishes without error but unusable media [on-the-fly mode] (Ubuntu 11.04 -12.04)

2012-05-05 Thread Martin Pitt
Jos [2012-05-04 16:35 -]:
As much as I respect the time and effort put in Ubuntu by everyone, how
come 12.04 could get out the door with such a bug?

You might not like that answer, but at least my reality is that it's
been years ago since I used or burned a CD/DVD, and none of my
computers even have a drive any more. I think this applies to most
developers these days.

So this is an area which indeed gets tested very seldomly; this needs
to be improved.

[Bug 972311] Re: Accessing a MTP device like the Galaxy Nexus fails

2012-05-05 Thread Aryan Ameri
I also have issues connecting the Galaxy Nexus to a fully up to date
Precise system. The system recognises the device, it shows as 'Galaxy'
on the Unity dock and I can open it in Nautilus, but then Nautilus just
searches for the contents for a long time before giving up and showing
an empty directory without any contents.

The Nexus is a very popular device, especially among the people who are
running Linux, so I'd say support for it should really be a priority.

[Bug 994949] Re: When nautilus opens it is not the active window

2012-05-05 Thread Javier P.L.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I could reproduce it with Ubuntu 12.04 in the amd64 and
the i368 architectures. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

[Bug 994995] [NEW] Synaptics touchpad ignores mouse clicks with touchpad setting

2012-05-05 Thread Jens Finkhäuser
Public bug reported:

Presumably this is gnome-settings-daemon.

After upgrading from oneiric to precise, I found that my synaptics
touchpad was always registering clicks by tapping on the pad. If I
check the system settings, the Enable mouse clicks with touchpad
setting is *off*, however. Changing the setting back and forth does not
change the behaviour.

[Bug 938751] Re: jpeg images are washed out or colors are skewed

2012-05-05 Thread Klaus Reichl
Same problem here (partly)!

I'm on a desktop with Samsung SyncMaster P2250 Monitor and on an older laptop
with fresh precise 12.04
installed.

The laptop is showing the picture as expected.
The desktop has the problem.

1) Only seen with eog. All of gimp, firefox, and shotwell show the
picture as expected.

Is eog special with respect to color management?

2) System Settings-Color show
on the laptop: Uncalibrated as status
on the desktop: No calibration status

Is the (newer) SyncMaster based system expecting color profile calibration or
even add-on
profiles, as Tayroni Alves (tayroni-alves) suggests in this thread? And then
which and from where?

For the time being, I use shotwell, start to read Color Management Docu and
wait for a brave sole to post
a solution here ;-)

Note: same problem reported in (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931174 )

[Bug 995019] [NEW] Have to eject the disc manually to complete the burn process

2012-05-05 Thread Amr Ibrahim
Public bug reported:

What I've changed to the plugin settings:
Changed disc check from MD5 to SHA256.

When I burn an image file to disc:

What I expect to happen:

process completes successfully.

What happens instead:
After the disc integrity finishes, I get an error message to eject the disc

I just had this problem, the solution I found is quite simple :

# Open Terminal

sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head

# Reboot

Then the Display Setting should be able to activate the second monitor
properly.

Hope this helps someone.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 936257
the system settings grid shouldn't use a fixed geometry

** Description changed:

System Settings - Keyboard produces a non-resizeable window, which
isn't very nice when viewing the long list of keyboard shortcut.

It is certainly consistent with coming from System Settings that the
window isn't resizeable, and, indeed, moving among settings panes
changes the window size. But not letting me change the window size,
too, is quite annoying. (Not you, O gentle reader of this bug, but the
  window that is annoying. ;-)

[Bug 936257] Re: the system settings grid shouldn't use a fixed geometry

2012-05-05 Thread TomasHnyk
On second thought, the duplicates are several separate issue:

1) bug 886812 is a genuine duplicate of larger font breaks GCC

2) bug 929585 is about different languages/fonts break GCC

3) bug 908650 is actually about resizing the window but is a bit
confused overall

4) bug 962593 and bug 994093 complain about GCC not accomodating a
different set of icons(=applications)

5) bug 993791 is specifically about the keyboard view and so is not
likely a duplicate at all

I deduplicated 5). 3) is confused so I will disregard it. 1) and 2) are
probably the same issue, but I am not sure whether 4) is as well? If
somebody more knowledgable know better, she should deduplicate 4) and
open a new upstream bug.

Don't you have ubuntu tweak installed? If so, don't you have set under
Tweaks Session indicator Disable lock screen? If unsetting it
corrects your problem, could you set this to invalid? Otherwise, set it
to confirmed.

[Bug 995053] [NEW] Drag Drop to PCManFM window causes system crash

2012-05-05 Thread teh603
Public bug reported:

When attempting to drag a folder or file from a file-roller window to a
PCManFM window, I get a dialog box which says something to the effect
of, You don't have permissions to extract to . The mouse pointer
becomes stuck as a hand, and the system no longer registers mouse
clicks. Alt-tab invokes the application switcher, but that also doesn't
work.

This happens EVERY time I try this. It is 100% repeatable.

Currently using Lubuntu 12.04, which was installed from a Beta CD image
but has been kept up to date. Please let me know if there are any
additional logs or tests I can append.

[Bug 462737] Re: No way to bind Super/Windows/Mod4.

2012-05-05 Thread TomasHnyk
What shell are you using? In Unity, super is reserved and it is a known
problem that Compiz and Gnome Control center does not know about it (
bug 774514 and bug 898087 ). Under Gnome session Fallback, I can assign
Super to some action.

[Bug 951805] Re: Can't use Super_L in keyboard shortcuts

This is related to bug 774514 and bug 898087 but is a bug on its own
because even shortcuts that are not bound by Unity or Compiz do not
work.

Unseting Super from the key to show launcher in CCSM Unity plugin also

[Bug 995074] [NEW] Can't print from Evince/Document Viewer HP 4215

2012-05-05 Thread N8N
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded to 12.04 from 10.04 a few days ago. Am able to print test
pages, web forms, and Libre Office documents but when I try to print a
.pdf opened with Evince, the document goes into the print queue and
stays there with a status of stopped. The only thing that I can do at
that point is to cancel the document, the only other options available
are reprint which puts it right back in the same state, and retrieve
which saves the file to disk. I can't say with 100% certainty that I
was able to print .pdfs from 10.04 but I can't imagine that I was using
that distro for several years without having the occasion to do so at
least once.

[Bug 995074] Re: Can't print from Evince/Document Viewer HP 4215

2012-05-05 Thread N8N
Just tried it again as I was not certain whether I had tried preview or
not. Also used a different .pdf file than previously. Did not select
print preview, just went straight to print, the document is in my print
queue with status of stopped.

More information that may be useful: the document has a size of US
Letter, Portrait (8.49 × 10.99 inch) when I view properties in evince
window, but when I check print job attributes in the queue it says
PageSize Custom the other thing that seems like it might have
information that would be useful to figuring out what's going on is that
it says job-printer-state-message /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip
failed

I would give the whole text of the print job attributes but I can't text
select on that window.

Let me know if you think any more info would be helpful or if you want
me to try anything

I also tried printing a .pdf that I know I had printed previously (it
was one that I generated myself from OpenOffice.org and had posted on my
website back when I had one) and saw the same behavior so it seems
pretty likely that it is not a problem with the files.

After half a minute or so the unity top and side panel pops up.
very annoying.

I'm running 12.04 with unity.

[Bug 993047] Re: Arrêt soudain de la lecture aléatoire de Rhythmbox

2012-05-05 Thread Arnaud BERCEGEAY
Je rencontre exactement le même problème (installation ubuntu 12.04 32
bits from scratch).

codec.
