[Bug 775117] Re: Thunar hangs on first launch of each session

2012-05-12 Thread Ted Slawinski
changing AutoMount=false not really a good work around. This leads to:

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: Mountpoint Already
registered

when selecting Network in the file manager.

If I try to replace the default file manager with pcman (which works
well), the software manager wants to remove the xubuntu desktop (not
good). This problem really needs to be fixed...

2012-05-12 Thread Chascon
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 966237 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966237

And someone reported it upstream, actually two people.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=675047

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674716 which interestingly reads,
but it seems this fix is for trackpads only, and not mice.
"So, the command to play around with for xi2.2 is

xinput set-prop "Synaptics Scrolling Distance" -
-

to find good values for vert and horiz, look at the current values with
xinput list-props

Note that this only works with the synaptics driver currently, and only with
version 1.6 (or 1.5.99.something)."

Also note that the interia calculation in the driver seems to be broken for
negative deltas, so you'll have to set "Synaptics Coasting Speed" to 0 0 for
now, or else you'll get 'infinite scrolling'."

[Bug 941618] Re: Screen not locking when hovering mouse over notification applets

2012-05-12 Thread Joseph Reeves
Have tested this bug in 12.04 and can confirm that it exists in this
release.

If screen lock activates whilst hovering over a drop down element
(calender, sound, etc), the screen will unlock without requiring
authentication.

Unlike 11.10, however, the user will be asked for a password after a
brief period of time. Before this time is up, however, the user will
have complete access to the machine.

[Bug 998554] [NEW] Nautilus panes have the same colour

2012-05-12 Thread Thijs van Dijk
Public bug reported:

In Oneiric, whenever you'd open a second pane in nautilus (F3),
whichever pane was "active" (i.e. clicking bookmark links on the left
would navigate *that* pane) would be slightly yellowish.

However in Precise, they have the exact same colour, making it difficult
to differentiate between the two. (See the attached screenshot.)

[Bug 795765] Re: In Ubuntu 10.10 Rhythmbox play/pause button does not work correctly

2012-05-12 Thread PC
Installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop-i386 (32bit) on the machine that had the
original problem.
The default music player is again rhythmbox, as it was on 10.10.

The problem no longer exists in 12.04. The play/pause button works
correctly.

So for me, the original bug reporter, the issue is resolved.

[Bug 984785] Re: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME

2012-05-12 Thread Karolis
really sorry for tripleposting, but on the fly bug research lead me to
this:

the bug is related to "X Window authorization" or "xauth"
according to wikipedia a cookie based access:
"These cookies are created by a separate program and stored in the file
.Xauthority in the user's home directory, by default."
if i run `strings .Xauthority` i get almost the same as in .goutputstream*DW:
<3 identical lines (check two posts up)>
<2 lines that repeats the first two>

question remains - how do these .Xauthority get's partially duplicated
into bunch of .goutputstream* on every shutdown?

[Bug 984785] Re: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME

2012-05-12 Thread Karolis
nautilus/thunar/terminal doesn't matter where you view it. it does
not affect nautilus as currently states. more like systemic ubuntu stuff
here

i don't have dropbox, file roller, ubuntu one, nautilus (thunar for me).

`ls -al | grep goutput` gives me this:
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 9 16:34 .goutputstream-2KCWDW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 10 20:39 .goutputstream-AVK3DW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 10 02:45 .goutputstream-CAJ7DW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 7 00:22 .goutputstream-EXDSDW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 6 19:44 .goutputstream-FV9TDW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 10 04:28 .goutputstream-GZZYDW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 11 14:52 .goutputstream-L6OUDW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 9 15:57 .goutputstream-ODM4DW
-rw--- 1 mdm mdm51 May 8 14:25 .goutputstream-RYD1DW
which seems a lot like my computers startup times.. (or was it shutdowns?, i'll
check it sometime..)

if i run `strings` on any file i get:

MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1
sg]|

all the three lines are the same for all files. I would notice the "DW" on the
end of each file name. does it have something to do with "doubleword"?
before finding this bug report i was blaming gstreamer for making these files,
now i'm in doubt. i've had it all the time 12.04, beta 12.04 and 11.10, running
xubuntu, can't remember about ubuntu

[Bug 732250] Re: gadugadu contacts do not appear in my contact list

2012-05-12 Thread Waldemar Szostak
I have the same problem in 12.04 with telepathy-sunshine 0.1.8 or 0.2.0.
I see in the plugin config file (profile.xml) and the debugging window that
the contacts were imported from the server. I can also receive messages from
gadu gadu contacts, even read and reply; the contact name also appears
correctly.

However, in the contacts list not a single gadugadu contact is
displayed, even though contacts from other protocols appear.

[Bug 908670] Re: [network]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in panel_get_strongest_unique_aps()

2012-05-12 Thread Tormod Volden
Martin (and Mathieu), it would be helpful if you could include the
package version in question in your "accepted into ... -proposed"
boiler-plate.

Anyway, I think I was never able to systematically reproduce this bug
and did not see it often, so I will have difficulties to confirm any
fix. Using 1:3.4.1-0ubuntu1 now (which I believe does not have your fix)
but I can not make it crash by clicking around in the Network
preferences. If the crash is dependent on having a hidden ESSID in the
neighbourhood it is even more difficult to test it conclusively.

[Bug 998434] Re: sudoku quiz not solveable! :(

2012-05-12 Thread Patrick Santos
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 998448] [NEW] Colors appear wrong

2012-05-12 Thread Thiago Vinicius Freire de Araújo Ribeiro
Public bug reported:

thiago@thiago-laptop:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release:12.04

thiago@thiago-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy eog
eog:
  Installed: 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.4.1-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I've looked into #272584, but I cannot decide if this bug is a duplicate
of that one. I have tried to reproduce that bug, using the provided
images, but got the opposite result: image_noicc_noexif.jpg appears to
be rendered correctly, while image_sRGB.jpg is not. Also, the color
distortion seems different from the reported on #272584, maybe because
of a different monitor?

I'm attaching a screenshot, using the same sample images at #272584.

[Bug 998431] [NEW] can't shutdown

2012-05-12 Thread OZCAN
Public bug reported:

Sometimes, when I try to shutdown my computer, instead of shutting down, the
login screen appears.
Then, if i try to shutdown again (without command line, juste GUI), nothing
happens. And if I try "sudo shutdown 0" on command line, the exit screen
appears (with "ubuntu" and some white dots bellow), but my computer doesn't
shutdown, the screen just stays like that.

Sory for my bad english.

[Bug 998406] Re: Scroll on video list forward or backward video

2012-05-12 Thread Nicolas Delvaux
Thank you for your bug report.
This problem also happen, for example, with the youtube plugin. So this is
rather a totem bug than a plugin bug.

It works on Oneiric.
As the Totem package from Precise is based on the same upstream version than in
Oneiric, this is probably a regression from an Ubuntu patch.

[Bug 938751] Re: jpeg images are washed out or colors are skewed

2012-05-12 Thread Felix Riemann
Could everyone still having the problem check if an ICC profile is set
for his display by running:

 xprop -root | grep ICC_PROFILE

If none is set the grep should be empty (besides a possible
_ICC_PROFILE_IN_X_VERSION entry).

If one is set unset it with

xprop -root -remove _ICC_PROFILE

the check the image display. If it is okay then, it is most likely an
issue with the profile.

(NOTE: These steps may not work correctly on a multi-monitor setup!)

[Bug 998389] [NEW] Brasero crashes on clicking the close window control while burning

2012-05-12 Thread Jonas Schwabe
Public bug reported:

I am sorry I can't attach an apport bug report as apport simply does something
wired while reporting this (simply disappears but does not crash). I will look
into this, too.
I will therefore attach valgrind output and the unformated crash file. But I
think this will likely be reproducible for everyone as it does not only happen
while burning but also while creating iso files.
Steps to do:
Create a new data disc with brasero, if you want to try this with iso files put
some big files onto the disc as you need a few seconds to reproduce the bug.
Start the burning/writing process and simply click on the close button (X) in
the window control.
Program crashes and if you really burn something the disc braseero was burning
won't stop spinning. I had to use "cdrecord -abort" to eject it as eject just
shows:
eject: Kann nicht auswerfen! Letzter Fehler: Unpassender IOCTL (I/O-Control)
für das Gerät
(eject: Eject failed! Last error: Wrong IOCTL for this device)

What I was expecting:
Either a confirmation to cancel the burn process or a simple minimization to
the notification area.

Valgrind output attached.
Interesting data:

[Bug 984785] Re: .goutputstream files polluting $HOME

2012-05-12 Thread JustinChuTw
After removing/uninstalling all Ubuntu One packages as suggested by
cheribibi and Daniel in posts #16 and #17 respectively, I now see only
one new .goutputstream-* file in my /home every morning when I turn on
my computer. The Properties of all my .goutputstream-* files show that
their size is 0 bytes and opening the files with gedit show that they
are blank. I have moved my .goutputstream-* files to Trash, kept them
there for a couple of days, then deleted them and it does not appear to
have any affect on the normal performance of my system.

Hope someone who is familiar with Ubuntu ... and its variants ... will
look into this problem as it is quite frustrating to see these
apparently useless files appearing everyday.
