[Bug 974963] Re: [soundnua]: hdmi audio missing in sound settings
Same issue. Using fglrx radeon 5650. Worked fine in 11.10. I have a different workaround: I plug in HDMI, only after that i can choose the input on my tv. There is no HDMI output in sound settings. If i plug out HDMI and plug it in again, it will be in the settings. Doing a short watch dmesg | tail -20 got me: Plug in - TV is not set to HDMI-Input (no entry in settings): [ 2678.137879] HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1 [ 2678.137899] HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1 [ 2678.137950] HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 [ 2678.137965] HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 Selecting HDMI on TV (nothing happens) - plug out, plug in (entry in settings): [ 2678.161597] HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=1 [ 2678.161621] HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1 Unselecting HDMI on TV (entry in sound settings gone) [ 2707.224468] HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 [ 2707.224494] HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 Selecting HDMI again does nothing. Im no expert in this things, but to me it seems that pluggin in the first time first is detected, but immediatly set to ELD_Valid=0 after that. Pluggin out and in with selection on TV leaves the state valid and switching input on TV unsets Valid. In my case at least best option would be to show HDMI in sound settings and never unload it, if detected one time? Right click-disable input as option to disable it again? [Bug 536766] Re: Personal file sharing preferences dialog does not offer to install needed packages
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 yesterday, because I tried Samba on Ubuntu 11.10 two days ago and everything went bad and my machine became unusable. I am very wary of (trying to use) Samba. I only want to share files between Linux machines. Yes I am trying to work out how to fix the problem of not being able to use Personal File Sharing because 'This feature cannot be enabled because the required packages are not installed on your system'. So this is a repetition of #27 above. The message itself is quite sweet, but without providing any clue of how to identify which packages are not installed, its usefulness is reduced. I've just been through each item on the first page of Google results for 'ubuntu 12.04 personal file sharing this feature cannot be enabled because the required packages are not installed on your system', but the 2 most thorough answers require Samba. A couple of others refer to Apache, but I can't work out what package/s to install. [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
Thanks theblackjack. I'm not completely sure how is the current status of this issue. In new instalations of Xubuntu 12.04 is seems that the default behaviour is, finally, print ç for 'c for the US-international-with dead keys layout. I have the impresion however that the problem persists in some applications, as libreoffice. But I would need to test this on a clean instalation, and currently I cannot do so. [Bug 987420] Re: allow to set restart/resume time on shutdown/suspend
I don't know if daily wake events can be programmed in the hardware real time clock. Yes, a small +wakup again checkbox or similar collapsible UI to enter a date would be sufficient I guess. [Bug 932126] Re: 'Media contains photos' message right-justified
** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu Precise) Status: In Progress = Fix Committed ** Description changed: + TESTCASE: + - browse a music player or phone or camera device + - notice that the device bar label is right justified + - with the update it's left justified + + Full description: + The buttons+text nautilus adds to windows for devices containing media is laid out poorly (see attached screenshot) To reproduce: 1) Plug in a phone or USB drive containing media 2) In a nautilus window, navigate to the device from step #1 Expected results: The Nautilus window has a message that These files are on a digital audio player with an Open Rhythmbox Music Player button, and/or a message that The media contains digital photos with an Open Shotwell Photo Manager button. The messages are left-justified within the nautilus window Actual results: The messages+buttons are right-justified within the nautilus window, which looks awkward (see screenshot). There are a couple specific problems: * There is no padding between the right edge of the message and the edge of the window, so the text is jammed against the edge of the window which doesn't match the layout of any other text * For left-to-right languages, the button comes before the explanatory text so you have to start reading in the middle of the line then jump back to the beginning of the line * There is a funny stair-step effect of buttons within the window; they are not vertically aligned to anything A better layout might be to move the explanatory text to the left of the buttons, left-justify the text, right-justify the buttons, and leave a space between the buttons + text that can expand as necessary with the size of the window. - - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 - Package: nautilus 1:3.3.5-0ubuntu2 - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-15.24-generic 3.2.5 - Uname: Linux 3.2.0-15-generic x86_64 - NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia - ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 - Architecture: amd64 - Date: Tue Feb 14 10:24:20 2012 - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Beta amd64 (20100901.1) - ProcEnviron: - PATH=(custom, user) - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash - SourcePackage: nautilus - UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-02-13 (0 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/932126 Title: 'Media contains photos' message right-justified To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/932126/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
Actually, I have some bad news... It seems that it worked for non-KDE applications only. On Lubuntu, however, it is working right, so I guess on standard Ubuntu or Xubuntu it should also work. [Bug 987220] Re: no complete shutdown
I also think that fglrx could be the reason. (fglrx is the proprietary driver from ATI, right?) I removed the driver and I had no problem with the shutdown. But as soon as I installed it again, I wasn't able to shut down again. But I only started / shut down the laptop about 5 times without fxglr, as I usually use my desktop and also not using fglrx works not very well for me as: 1.) fan runs a lot more 2.) battery runs a lot less longer 3.) [Bug 682492] Re: Evince: Save Settings as default doesn't work
I think this is due to a very peculiar behavior of evince , that it does not apply the default settings, if the document is stored somewhere under /tmp. This is annoying, because most of temporarily used documents (e.g. pdfs in firefox) are stored there and hence are being opened in a small window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682492 Title: Evince: Save Settings as default doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/682492/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 996770] Re: Lock screen is occasionally solid black except for mouse cursor after resuming from suspend
Perhaps this is not the same issue (?), but issuing the command: gnome-screensaver-command -l occassionally leaves me with a black screen - even after numerous mouse clicks / key presses - and the cursor is not visible. When this happens, I am able to log back in by blindly typing my password and pressing Enter - just as if the Lock screen dialog was visible. Unlike the original post, my attempts to switch to a tty (e.g. Ctrl + Alt + F2) result in the same blank screen (i.e. no prompt for login username)..
