[Bug 637979] [NEW] Removeable filesystems are not automatically mounted during boot.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: If a removable drive (such as a USB flash drive) is plugged in, it typically is automounted by Gnome. It is not automounted if the device is already plugged in during boot. Story: A user plugs in a flash drive and starts working. He gets on the plane, so he shuts down the system. Once the plane lands, the user boots up the system - the drive is no longer mounted. This violates the principle of least surprise. The user is forced to re-mount the drive through the disk utility or unplug and replug it (which can be a challenge depending on where the device is plugged in). ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: Opinion ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: apport-collected maverick regression-release -- Removeable filesystems are not automatically mounted during boot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/637979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 687635] Re: No easy way to make Samba shares permanent
Not sure why this was assigned to mountall; mountall only parses /etc/fstab at boot time, it certainly isn't going to be responsible for writing to it. Reassigning to nautilus, which I guess is what would have to provide an option to convert gvfs mounts into boot-time mounts by adding them to the /etc/fstab. (This is probably a bad idea, but I guess that's a decision for the desktop team.) ** Package changed: mountall (Ubuntu) => gvfs (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687635 Title: No easy way to make Samba shares permanent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/687635/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 687635] [NEW] No easy way to make Samba shares permanent
You have been subscribed to a public bug: NAS are becoming a popular add-on to people networks, used for every purpose from backing up data to let it be available to multiple PCs on the same (W)LAN. Usually network attached drives are available through a Samba share and the only way to browse them in Ubuntu is going through the Network window. This makes no easy task to save files on daily basis since there's no easy way to browse the drive from many windows (i.e. save or open windows) except going inside .gvfs folder which is not user friendly. Also, these drives will not be mounted on boot, so in order to use them users must go through the Network window every time (or edit by themselves fstab). Every time a user browse a Samba share it should be prompted with the option to save them with a panel inside the Nautilus window (like it happens when Ubuntu recognize a Camera when it's browsed with Nautilus) in order to make that samba share automount on every boot. ** Affects: ayatana-design Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Won't Fix -- No easy way to make Samba shares permanent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1001570] Re: Regresson: Unable to import WMF images into GIMP, or convert them using wmf2xxx
I use both Ubuntu and OSX, found that right-clicking on the image in LibreOffice (in OSX) and selecting "Save Graphics" allows one to choose another format. I know, I know. What would be really useful is if I helped with a fix for *Ubuntu* - but I have a deadline, and needed a workaround today fast. Actually, the client sent me a bunch of .docx files with the wmf images inside, so I unzipped them and opened the /word/media/image*.wmf files in LibreOffice. When you open the wmfs this way, right-clicking yields a "Save as Picture" dialog, instead of "Save Graphics." I have an inkling of where the problem might be; after I've put out my fires, I'll look and see what turns up. [Bug 945157] Re: sometimes it miss the menus
This bug affects me. I noticed this since upgraded to precise around in the first beta. I have every package up-to-date and I am still experiencing the issue. When this happens the bookmarks in nautilus quicklist don't work. After killing nautilus and starting it again, everything works just fine. I wouldn't be sure if this is really a bug, though. Since upgrade I noticed lots of weirdness in my install: sometimes X just crashes with sig 11, vlc losses audio after pausing or seeking on any video, pulseaudio is flakier than usual - it just decides to restart, transmission-gtk refuses to let me change the download directory (not a bug in transmission, but an unexpected event from gtk - #915165). Until these are fixed, I have disabled "Require my password when waking from suspend" (All Settings -> Brightness and Lock) and in All Settings -> Power I set it on Don't suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995840 Title: When laptop lid is closed screen locks even if it should not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/995840/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 993440] Re: No suspend option for critical battery state in power settings UI
As suspend is the default behaviour it clearly should be in the menu otherwise if you change it you can't change it back. Also as power off doesn't save state there is nothing to lose from suspending and hopefully having time to find a power socket rather than powering off. Ideally there should also be a "Do Nothing" option as well to cope with hardware that misreports the low battery condition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993440 Title: No suspend option for critical battery state in power settings UI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/993440/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 995840] Re: When laptop lid is closed screen locks even if it should not
I seem to have this same problem, however, I have an issue severly compounding it. In addition to the computer locking when the lid is closed, sometimes the login screen doesn't appear. All I have is a blank screen of my desktop. I haven't found a way to fix this or get around it yet. Except for a hard reboot. Although I haven't really tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and killing/messing with things. I just did an upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04 about 24 hours ago. I tried unlocking everything and hopefully that will be a quick fix for my problems. But, having about a 50% chance of having to reboot the system eveytime the lid is closed is pretty bad. I am not sure if this should be posted on a different or new bug report, but as it seemed related I figured I should start by posting it here.

Public bug reported: I am on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit updated to 19.5.2012. On inserting a cd/dvd on any contend - also blank ones - Ubuntu is not able to mount the cd/dvd and eject it immediatelly from drive. In moment I could not use the drive at whole with this bug. In additional: When the drive has one time ejected a disk a closing of the drive (emty) causes the same behaviour. It open immediatelly even if it is emty. A closing of the drive is no longer possible. Additional: This is a regression bug that must be shipped with one of the latest updates to the system. Following the gvfs change log it could not be gvfs directly(last change on 16.4.2012), but must be any other package. [Bug 1001570] [NEW] Regresson: Unable to import WMF images into GIMP, or convert them using wmf2xxx
Public bug reported: I have put the package on this bug as GIMP, but seeing the range of problems (described below), it is probably something else. SUMMARY: 1. In Lucid 10.04, GIMP would flawlessly import WMF files. 2. Starting Maverick 10.10, it would not work. 3. There was, at least, a work-around, in that the tools wmf2xxx could convert the files into a different format (e.g. EPS), which GIMP could import. 4. But with Precise 12.04, even that work-around fails. MORE INFORMATION: * When trying to open a file with GIMP, GIMP incorrectly recognises the WMF dimensions as having dimensions of -1x-1 (see attached screen-shot), and having negative X and Y ratios. GIMP will allow you to correct the width and height, but not the resolution, making importing impossible. * wmf2xxx fails with error code 1 but no error message. * convert (from ImageMagick) fails with error code 1 and the message: failed to scan file `t2.wmf' @ error/wmf.c/ReadWMFImage/186. * Surprisingly, Libre Office Writer and Draw are able to import WMF files. Unfortunately, Libre Office crops the images, so that they anyway cannot be used. This regression has been hanging around for 19 months, and really needs fixing. The only remaining work-around is to either boot into Windows or run 10.04 in a virtual machine, neither of which is an acceptable solution. [Bug 1001555] [NEW] When I connect my ipod to Rhthymbox, and try to add podcasts, I always end up with multiple copies of said podcast
Public bug reported: When I connect my ipod to Rhthymbox, and try to add podcasts, I always end up with multiple copies of said podcast, and if I remove one from the ipod, I seem to remove them all. Sometimes also after I remove the podcast from my ipod, Rhtymbox crashes, and I have to restart it. Any idea why this may be happening, and is there anything I can do to fix this? I've tried reinstalling, but that does nothing. Thanks. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001555 Title: When I connect my ipod to Rhthymbox, and try to add podcasts, I always end up with multiple copies of said podcast To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1001555/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
