[Bug 1003769] Re: data_imports_fspot_db_fspot_database_table_construct segfaults on f-spot import

2012-05-24 Thread Adam Dingle
Thanks for the bug report. This is a known bug which was fixed in
Shotwell 0.12.3:

http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/5078

I believe that 0.12.3 should be coming to Precise any day now.

[Bug 987220] Re: no complete shutdown

2012-05-24 Thread Mark Schneider
I also found out that after some time of using Ubuntu I can't switch to a
terminal session anymore. Using Strg-Alt-F2 for example does not work after a
while. The screen turns black and that's it. Pressing Strg-Alt-F7 brings me
back to Unity again.
The shutdown works fine as long I can switch to a terminal. If I can't the
shutdown does not work either.

[Bug 1003840] [NEW] gnome-power-statistics process lingers when closing via window control close button (X), preventing further checking of battery details

2012-05-24 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Public bug reported:

Every once in a while (let's say approximately 1 in 10) after opening
gnome-power-statistics via the battery icon, the gnome-power-statistics
process seemed to continue running even when the window is closed.

I now noticed that it does that every time I use the red close X button
from the window controls, while it works if the actual Close button in
the window contents is used.

On the next opening, the statistics window opens (still only one gnome-
power-statistics process running) but it's empty - closing and re-
opening still only opens an empty window. If killing the process from
command line manually, the statistics again work.

Since I apparently obsessively want to see the charging percentage, I
saw this quite often, until now finding out how it occurs.

[Bug 941463] Re: empathy automatically start on login doesnot work

2012-05-24 Thread GuiMaster
H-Bomb is correct, this bug has occured in every version of Ubuntu since
the switch to Empathy. New users do not know how to configure a program
to auto-start. Even somewhat experienced users will not know the command
needed to force a program like Empathy to start (usr/bin/empathy -h).

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04, on first boot the Messaging Menu
will set the users status to Offline by default. If a user changes
their status to Available, Away, Busy, or Invisible and then
restarts or shuts down the computer, the Messaging Menu will default
back to Offline on the next boot. A new Ubuntu adopter will be forced
to set their status to Available after every single boot, which would
result in much frustration.

[Bug 858775] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon hogs CPU in Oneiric

2012-05-24 Thread mobrien118
This happens to me when I load Google-Chrome. Once it loads, it asks me
for my password to unlock the keyring, the it's off to the races!

It doesn't seem to ever stop using 100% CPU (on my 3.4GHz Pentium D).

If I kill it, everything seems fine.

I have a fully updated Precise installation.

Is this the same issue? Has anyone found a workaround? Solution? Is
there anything I can do to help?

[Bug 857623] Re: Menu, XF86ScreenSaver, Delete, Print Screen, ScrollLock and Media player keys cannot be assigned to a keyboard shortcut

2012-05-24 Thread TomasHnyk
** Summary changed:

- Menu, XF86ScreenSaver, Delete, Print Screen and Media player keys cannot be
assigned to a keyboard shortcut
+ Menu, XF86ScreenSaver, Delete, Print Screen, ScrollLock and Media player keys
cannot be assigned to a keyboard shortcut

** Summary changed:

- Menu, XF86ScreenSaver, Delete, Print Screen, ScrollLock and Media player keys
cannot be assigned to a keyboard shortcut
+ Menu, XF86ScreenSaver, Delete, Print Screen, Scroll Lock and Media player
keys cannot be assigned to a keyboard shortcut

** Description changed:

After upgrading to Oneiric Ocelot Beta 2, keyboard shortcuts that I
assign to the Menu key are not obeyed.

For example, I have set 'System Settings ▸ Keyboard ▸ Shortcuts ▸ Sound
and Media ▸ Volume Mute' to 'Menu', but pressing the Menu key does not
mute the volume; it opens a context menu.

From duplicates: This affects also the Delete, XF86ScreenSaver, Print
- Screen, and Media play keys.
+ Screen,Scroll Lock and Media play keys.
+
+ Note that System Settings ▸ Keyboard ▸ Shortcuts ▸ Launchers ▸ Launch
+ Terminal works with all these keys, os only some actions cannot be
+ assigned to these keys. Also, it seems that key combinations such as
+ Alt+Menu work for all actions.

[Bug 995185] Re: Multimedia keys are disabled

2012-05-24 Thread TJ
Hi Sary, thanks for the prompt response.

The first thing I notice is the kernel version you just used is
different to the original dmesg:

Original:

[0.00] Linux version 3.2.0-23-generic (buildd@crested) (gcc version
4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu4) ) #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 20:39:51 UTC
2012 (Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic 3.2.14)
[0.00] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-23-generic
root=UUID=daeaa295-5990-4302-a175-fe2559526049 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7

Now:

[0.00] Linux version 3.0.0-19-generic (buildd@vernadsky) (gcc version
4.6.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.1-9ubuntu3) ) #33-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 19 19:05:57 UTC
2012 (Ubuntu 3.0.0-19.33-generic 3.0.27)
[0.00] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-19-generic
root=UUID=710b9731-f503-4f39-8891-b8292e060a73 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7

This looks to be a two different installations. The original one was
using 12.04 Precise, this later one looks to be using 11.10 Oneiric. Is
the PC set up for multiple boots into different releases?

Second thought regarding dmesg. dmesg used to only capture the initial
boot messages which were switched to /var/log/kern.log once the system
got going. That has changed with 12.04 so that might explain why - if
you're using 11.10 Oneiric now - you don't see the key-scan codes
reported in dmesg.

To find all occurrences try this:

grep -n 'setkeycodes' /var/log/*

You may need to prefix that command with 'sudo' if some files aren't
accessible to your user account.

[Bug 806606] Re: ip information frame not displayed correctly

2012-05-24 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
[Impact]
Customer cannot use gnome-netool to monitor network traffic.

[Development Fix]
This has been fixed in upstream, and precise and above.

[Stable Fix]
mfisch already has posted a package to his ppa with the fix backported from
upstream, which seems to have been tested by quite a few users.

https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mfisch/ubuntu/precise/gnome-nettool
/multiple-ui-fixes/view/head:/debian/patches/10_fix_ui_layout.patch

Additionally, I have attached a debdiff to this issue.

[Test Case]
* The Mouseover text for tracert textbox should read Enter the network address
to trace route ... .

* The tooltip for Lookup should say domain, and not network address

* The network tool / ping tab have been resized to display more
information

* In :Devices page, IP Information table should be visible.

[Regression Potential]
There is very little potential for regression.

[Bug 872022] Re: eog crash GRIP-CRITICAL

2012-05-24 Thread mannheim
I believe that this bug occurs when the setting image-gallery-
resizable is true. There is no visible setting for this in the gui,
but it can be set via gsettings and causes the same error message above:

me@mypc:~$ gsettings set org.gnome.eog.ui image-gallery-resizable true
me@mypc:~$ eog

(eog:16324): GRIP-CRITICAL **: register_internal: assertion
`GRIP_IS_GESTURE_MANAGER (manager)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

This problem is still present in Ubuntu 12.04. It was not present in the
previous LTS release, so it manifests itself when an upgrade occurs (but
perhaps only for a small set of users who have fiddled with this
setting.)

[Bug 1003945] [NEW] Toggle Audio Transmission does not mute SIP audio transmission

2012-05-24 Thread Jeremy Kerr
Public bug reported:

During a SIP call, empathy provides a button to mute audio transmission.
However, it looks like this does not work: audio is still transmitted to
the other party.

To reproduce:

1) Start a SIP call with colleagues
2) Talk to colleagues
3) Click 'Toggle Audio Transmission' button to mute audio
4) Talk to the cat

Expected result: colleagues on the conference call do not hear conversation
with the cat.
Actual result: colleagues on the conference call hear conversation with the
cat, embarassment ensues.

[Bug 950160] Re: Keyboard function key to switch between monitors no more works

2012-05-24 Thread Keng-Yu Lin
After a few rounds of testing, I think there is different result to run
g-s-d with and without the --debug argument.

This is what I do:
  kill -9 `pgrep gnome-settings`; gnome-settings-daemon --debug

And then press the video switch hotkey or super+p and observe if the
xrandr-plugin is called. There will be log like:

(gnome-settings-daemon:21343): xrandr-plugin-DEBUG: applying
=== Applying Configuration Configuration ===
  Clone: false
  Output: (null) attached to VGA1
 status: off
 width: -1
 height: -1
 rate: -1
 primary: false
 position: -1 -1
Output: BenQ 22 attached to HDMI1
 status: on
 width: 1920
 height: 1080
 rate: 60
 primary: true
 position: 0 0
  Output: (null) attached to DP1
 status: off
 width: -1
 height: -1
 rate: -1
 primary: false
 position: -1 -1
(gnome-settings-daemon:21343): xrandr-plugin-DEBUG: done handling fn-f7

However when testing without killing the g-s-d process first and without the
--debug argument. The video switch does not work.

This could be a race of grabbing the key or some timing issue as it
seems.

2012-05-24 Thread Philip Johnson
Bug #1001554 under indicator-sound may be a duplicate of this bug.

Before discovering this bug, I confirmed and added a comment to that
report -- in summary, the microphone input on an eeepc (which is built-
in) does not appear in the gnome-control-center record sound from
list. However the microphone works and input volume can be adjusted
with the indicator-sound dropdown slider *when an application is
actively using the mic*. Please let me know if I can provide any
details about my hardware that will make tracking this down easier.

[Bug 1003998] [NEW] Terminal window stays in foreground even if deactivated

2012-05-24 Thread jongleur
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, release 12.04
gnome-terminal version 3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1

1) I expect the application menu to be in front of the terminal window, if they
collide in space.
2) I expect the terminal window to move back behind other windows if these get
activated.
3) If the terminal window is visible in the front after an action like in (2)
(well, it should not be, but if!) I expect it to further react on mouse actions

What happens instead (yes, it's reproduceable)

1) the menu is hidden behind the window of the terminal application. As a ugly
workaround I can resize the window to keep enough free space between menu bar
and terminal window to show the menu nevertheless - but that's definitively no
solution.
2) The terminal window stays in front, but is not active to any interaction any
more. It can be reactivated by clicking in the dock (as a workaround).
Minimizing a terminal window using the minimize-button in the windows title bar
works as expected.
3) mouse actions are sent and handled by the next application that is on the
desktop. Thus mouse interaction works correct as if the terminal window has
been minimized as expected.

I assume that it's one bug alltogether:
* Using the on-top-menu of the terminal application, which is not part of the
window in 12.04 any more deactivates the terminal window technically. The
deactivated window seems to stay on top accidently.
* therefore the menu as well as the other application are drawn behind the
window, but that's again because of the first issue.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2012-05-24 Thread Leandro
I've just installed a fresh Linux Mint 13 and nothing changed (still getting
the accented c).
So, no luck there yet.

I confirm that installing the ibus package solves the problem for non-QT
applications. For libreoffice
is seems to work. I didn't install all packages starting with ibus, only the
ibus package and its
dependencies - on Mint 13 Cinnamon.

[Bug 1001579] [NEW] Incorrect file transfer progress bar

2012-05-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I am transferring data from my PC to USB storage device, the
transfer rate shown during the process is completely incorrect. So, also
the progress bar.

Please check the attached screen shot:

It is showing the transfer rate to be : 31.5MB/sec while my USB drive
only supports maximum of 7MB/sec. Similarly the progress bar is shown as
100% completed but internally still it is transferring the data and took
almost another 1 minute to finish. Till the end of this process I am
clueless whether the transfer is still going on or there is some hang.

Even though it's not a blocking issue but surely an usability issue.

[Bug 987220] Re: no complete shutdown

2012-05-24 Thread Andre
That's a very intersting observation, Mark. Thanks! I'll keep an eye on
that, i.e. check if I can jump to another TTY before I shutdown.

On my laptop (Lenovo X220) I have noticed that the indicator lights
(LEDs) for wifi and power(!) turn off, while the screen stays on. Marks
observation plus this one points in the direction of problems with the
graphics driver. My graphics card is Intel. Should be a GMA 3000. lspci
