[Bug 863834] Re: [regression] Suspend on lid close broken on Oneiric

2012-06-09 Thread Michael Backhaus
/etc/acpi/events/lidbtn triggers /etc/acpi/lid.sh which triggers
/etc/acpi/local/lid.sh.post at the end of the script. /etc/acpi/local/*
allows you to add your own config (e.g. required for wmii).

generate /etc/acpi/local/lid.sh.post
make it executable
and add:

#!/bin/bash
grep -q closed /proc/acpi/button/lid/*/state
if [ $? = 0 ]
then
/usr/sbin/pm-suspend
fi

wmii will now go to suspend mode when closing the lid. It'll
automatically wake up when opening the lid.

Right click on a file that is of the type you want to change.

Click Properties from the context menu

Click on the open with tab.

Check box that says Always open with this (or something like that)

[Bug 1010402] Re: Problem opening RawText file

2012-06-09 Thread Aurele Theriault
The whole point is that this file (resource file generated by Visual
C++) does not appear to contain any invalid character.

After opening file test.rc with Windows' Notepad and removing 'END' at
line 387, then saving file, gedit can open file without any problem.
After re-adding 'END' at line 387 (using gedit or Notepad) and saving
file, gedit can no longer open file. That is what is really weird about
it.

oddly this happened for me while trying to take a screenshot to report a
different bug. screenshot crashed out and I ended up here... Doesn't
seem relevant unless it's because I was in the process of selecting an
area to grab and that intersected nautilus/appmenu.

[Bug 1010866] [NEW] No Keyboard Layout option in lock screen

2012-06-09 Thread Abhijit Navale
Public bug reported:

I have QWERTY as my default keyboard layout and I am using Ubuntu 12.04 (64
bit) with Gnome Shell.
Now,
1. I switched it to Dvorak and made Dvorak default and the QWERTY secondary.
2. Now I start learning Dvorak
3. Now I go away from computer for tea
4. When I come back the computer is locked due to auto lock setting
5. Now I can not type password using QWERTY because default layout set to
Dvorak as said in #1
6. I am locked out since yet I have not learned the Dvorak layout

So it will be great to provide keyboard layout button to change the layout
using mouse on the lock screen as that of the login screen.
Thank you.

[Bug 946915] Re: [color]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in cd_client_connect_finish()

2012-06-09 Thread Keith Clark
Should note that this is actually in 12.10, not 12.04 as reported.
Also, the 'Display' section of Control Centre also does nothing at the
moment.

Another issue is that when I try to close the Control Centre, it just
restarts itself. Over and over again, until it crashed when I tried to
select 'Colour'.

[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open

2012-06-09 Thread v4169sgr
Affects me also as a 64 bit install of 12.04 with four user accounts. A
warning and a password over-ride should be generated, as per behaviour
in 10.04. As it stands non-admin user cannot now shut down normally at
all if another user is logged in, even if the other user's processes are
in 'zombie' state.

Data loss and / or system damage definitely possible.

[Bug 780117] Re: Brasero finishes without error but unusable media [on-the-fly mode] (Ubuntu 11.04 -12.04)

With on the fly disabled there is no copying cd option anymore, at least which
works.
Perhaps you could make another patch so that copying cd is routed via the slow
method. It would still be far better than the current corrupted copy cd option.

[Bug 1011031] [NEW] Item Selection Tooltip Masks Last Item in List View

When you select an item in Nautilus, a Tooltip appears with information
about the file you just selected. The tooltip is persistent, and appears
in the lower right of the window.

In list view mode, this blocks the information of the last item in the

example.

huge bumber.

[Bug 1007691] Re: Simulated Secondary click sometimes stops working after reboot even though it's still enabled

2012-06-09 Thread Drew
Hi, I have similar bug. I am running an ASUS ep121 slate with intel core i5.
2nd mouse click was working a while ago. I had not used it for a while as I was
using the slate as a desktop with keybousrd mouse, so I don't know how long
ago this bug started to occur. But the 2ndary mouse click now does not work at
all. After noting the above, I tried rebooting with it off then turing it on in
a fresh start, no luck. This may be related: sometimes ubuntu decides it has
detected an error (often where none is apparent to me) wants me to report it,
but when I try, it claims I have insufficient memory to collect the data. Since
its got 4GB and I seldom use more than 1GB of this, it seems unlikley.
btw, I keep all software up to date.

I see something superficially similar when I run 'xscanimage' and
acquire a preview. Haven't seen the full stack yet.

Actually, scrap that last comment.
gnome-control-center is opening for me, it's the display applet that does not.

[Bug 773368] Re: Could not open certain PNG images

2012-06-09 Thread Eliah Kagan
The original reporter (Kushal) indicates that this bug still occurs with
Precise, so I am changing this back from Expired to New.

@Kushal
Can you attach a few .png images (or at least one) that cause this problem on
your system, and a few .png images (or at least one) that do not? Such
attachments may make it a lot easier to figure out what is going wrong. Please
also add technical information to this bug about your current system by opening
a Terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T) and running: apport-collect 773368
