[Bug 1007149] Re: Mounting encrypted hard disk partitions now asks for the root password.
PeterPall [2012-06-11 17:04 -]: > 1.) The system claims to want a passphrase twice but for mounting my > hard disk partition it needs both my login passwort and the > partition's passphrase. When I insert the stick only the passphrase > is needed. This is expected. Your login password is necessary for "sudo", to be able to access the raw partition. Note that "luksformat" is rather a power-user command line tool. Ordinarily you would create encrypted partitions with the graphical "Disks" tool. Mounting the stick does not involve sudo, and thus does not need your login password. > This means my problem was that for mounting a encrypted hard disk > partition my password is needed as well as the luks passphrase whereas > for a stick only the latter is needed. Steve Langasek I have changed employers, and no longer have access to the IMAP server containing messages that definitely caused the crash. [Bug 974342] Re: internet radio stream stops after every song
I've been encountering this error too. Running `rhythmbox -d` produces a fair bit of log output, but definitely shows some suspicious goings on. In the attached log I was listening to "Absolute Radio 90s". The track ended at 22:27:11, and playback paused (sound stopped) for a couple of seconds. At 22:27:14 playback resumed, but only lasted a couple of seconds, stopping at 22:27:16. Playback never resumed after that point - at least, not that I could hear, although the log suggests otherwise. To resume playback, I had to manually re-select the station. ** Attachment added: "Rythmbox -d log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/974342/+attachment/3187137/+files/rhythmbox-pauses.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974342 Title: internet radio stream stops after every song To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/974342/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 830348] Re: desktop contents briefly visible on resume from suspend before lock dialog
This is likely what happens: 1- Something grabs mouse: ie: virtual machine window, or GTK menu in an application or an indicator 2- Screensaver attempts to start, but cannot get exclusive lock on mouse 3- DPMS turns monitor black 4- User moves mouse, which turns the screen back on 5- Mouse movement causes mouse to get ungrabbed by vm window or gtk menu 6- Screensaver can now grab mouse, and starts This is all related to the fact that X does not have an API that will let the screensaver tell an application to release mouse and keyboard grabs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/830348 Title: desktop contents briefly visible on resume from suspend before lock dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/830348/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 957924] Re: gedit crashes when opening latex-plugin preferences
I found this bug "upstream" in gnome's bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=676570), and here is a solution. The crash is connected to the file ~/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml. If you remove this file, Latex plugin loads correctly and doesn't crash when you enter preferences. However, that file is where you store custom compilation commands! 1. Copy the default tools.xml over the local one: cp /usr/share/gedit/plugins/latex/tools.xml ~/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml 2. Edit ~/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml and remove the arrow characters. (I replaced all "->" characters with the word "to" so that "TEX -> PDF" now reads "TEX to PDF" . The bug comments at gnome's tracker seem to suggest this is a problem.) 3. Edit the same file (~/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml) and change the compilation command to what you want. Please note that if you have an error in that file, the crash will still occur. (For example, choosing ASFASF as the postProcessor for something will still crash the application.) Here's my file which works (synctex, pdflatex and errors are nice): $ cat ~/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml pdflatex -synctex=1 "$filename" gvfs-open "$shortname.pdf" rubber --inplace --maxerr -1 --short --force --warn all --ps "$filename" gvfs-open "$shortname.ps" rubber --inplace --maxerr -1 --short --force --warn all "$filename" gvfs-open "$shortname.dvi" latex -interaction batchmode -src "$filename" latex -interaction batchmode -src "$filename" xdvi -unique -s 6 -bg white -editor gedit "$shortname.dvi" R CMD Sweave "$shortname.Rnw" rubber --inplace --maxerr -1 --short --force --warn all --pdf "$shortname.tex" gvfs-open "$shortname.pdf" rm -f "$directory"/*.aux "$directory"/*.log "$directory"/*.toc "$directory"/*.bbl "$directory"/*.blg bibtex2xml "$filename" ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #676570 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=676570 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit-plugins in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957924 Title: gedit crashes when opening latex-plugin preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit-plugins/+bug/957924/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 830348] Re: desktop contents briefly visible on resume from suspend before lock dialog
This affects me on 12.04 using conventional 3d unity. I just returned to my laptop after a several hours, swished my mouse, and the screen came back on, unlocked... I thought "odd... shouldn't this be locked?" and just assumed that I must have absent-mindedly unlocked it earlier. I then went to start using the laptop, and as soon as I touched the keyboard, the lock screen came up. As a curious detail if I close the lid right after switching on the laptop, before Ubuntu starts up, it works as expected. Of course, I have set the Energy configuration to do nothing on closing the lid, and I agree that the laptop screen in that situation should go black, but not the external screen. [Bug 75654] Re: deleted songs listed again when using library watch
I think a simple solution would be to add a boolean attribute called ExcludeFromLibrary to each track in the xml file. If the parser comes across such an attribute with a true value, then it simply ignores it. When adding new files to the library, it would be a good idea to run through the list of excluded files to ensure that it has not already been excluded. If it is found in that list, then the attribute is flipped to false. This will stop the library file getting clogged up with duplicate excluded tracks. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Milestone: precise-4-music-video => quantal-1-audio-video ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Importance: Medium => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75654 Title: deleted songs listed again when using library watch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/75654/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 987220] Re: no complete shutdown
> Sometime it works with command: shutdown now -h > It never works with command: halt That refers to bug #880240, which is not the bug reported by the submitter. The 'halt' command does not do what people assume it does. You need to call either 'shutdown -h now', or 'poweroff', or 'halt -p'. The bug here is with the system not shutting down when shut down from the GUI - that's not at all due to a user calling the wrong command from the commandline. Perhaps the GUI makes the same wrong assumption and calls 'halt' when it should not, or perhaps there's a hardware-specific issue with the poweroff handling. (This would not be the first time that had happened, but most such problems were long ago with a much less mature kernel.) ** Summary changed: - no complete shutdown + System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987220 Title: System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-session/+bug/987220/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
