[Bug 1005729] Re: gnome-terminal resizes to max height when mousing over gnome panel

2012-06-26 Thread Jameson Williams
I believe this bug is ultimately an artifact of 974242:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/974242

After I disabled the Place Window plugin to Compiz, as suggested there,
I have not seen this issue.

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI

2012-06-26 Thread Mark Schneider
@Peter
That's because you probably do not have the same problems like I described in
my starting post.
Removing the nvidia driver already helped others who had the same problem. All
those who's system behavior differs from the described one should open another
bug report.

[Bug 1005729] Re: gnome-terminal resizes to max height when mousing over gnome panel

2012-06-26 Thread Chris Billington
I'm experiencing this bug too.

The deciding factor as to which windows move and which don't, when I
mouse-over the launchers on gnome-panel, appears to be whether that
window has at any point in the past had an overlap outside of the screen
struts, ie it has been anywhere that a newly created or maximised window
could not be.

So if I drag a window halfway off the bottom of the screen, or a few
pixels underneath a panel, even if I drag it back, it will then move
around randomly whenever I mouse-over the launchers on gnome-panel.

It's kinda weird.

[Bug 993440] Re: No suspend option for critical battery state in power settings UI

2012-06-26 Thread Tomislav
Apparently, dconf-editor can be used to tweak lower-level power settings
directly (see org->gnome->settings-daemon->plugins->power), but:

1) I haven't confirmed yet that it does, in fact, resolve this particular issue
(suspend on low battery), although some of the other settings have taken effect
2) the "official" power settings dialogue is *extremely* spartan
3) having to use dconf-editor to configure the system is like having to use
regedit to do the same on Windows: it makes no sense

[Bug 1015791] Re: cannot configure machine to suspend below a battery threshold

2012-06-26 Thread Patrick Santos
To OP - what you describe is gnome-power-manager. I am setting this
issue to confirmed as I see the issue too - on a machine that is capable
of performing a suspend, the option is not available to automatically
suspend on critical battery, at least via gnome-power-manager's GUI.

[Bug 1015791] [NEW] cannot configure machine to suspend below a battery threshold

2012-06-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The power configuration view allows me to configure the machine to
suspend after an inactivity period, but it does not allow me to
configure the machine to suspend when it falls bellow a certain
remaining charge threshold.

The problem is all the more frustrating because hibernate doesn't seem
to work at all, meaning I have to keep a very close eye on the battery
status in order to not lose data.

Actually, on Fedora the shortcut for playing is Ctrl+Space and it works
just right.

[Bug 1018087] [NEW] Seek bar not working with left click

2012-06-26 Thread Jean-Louis Dupond
Public bug reported:

Hi!

There seems to be a bug in the GtkScale to seek in the song.
You can only drag the seek bar, and not click to change the position.

This is probably caused by a change in GtkScale on Gtk 3.5.

For example in gnome-control-center this was fixed with the following change:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-control-center/commit/?id=9859ffbc27aca0a4f1a58412233498cdf846da70

Alot of other software seems to be affected.

The fix has been reverted out, due to a bug report (bug #1013881) filed
about it during testing in -proposed.

You guys will need to work with upstream to find a better way of fixing
it that doesn't cause regressions for anyone.

Found the root cause! It hit g_return_val_if_fail (TP_IS_ACCOUNT
(account), NULL); in empathy_tp_chat_new(). In that case indeed NULL
channel is returned and no error is provided.

This is because tp_connection_get_account() returns NULL because the
TpAccount does not know its Connection yet. This is because in
HandleChannels we create both TpAccount and TpConnection objects but we
need to wait for TpAccount to prepare CORE before it calls
_tp_connection_set_account().

This crash does not happen when empathy-chat is already started because
empathy-chat loads a full Folks aggregator, so it has the time to
prepare CORE on all TpAccount before HandleChannel happens.

I think TpBaseClient should prepare TpAccount and TpConnection before
creating the TpChannel. I think it is reasonable to consider that
TpChannel's constructor assert that its TpConnection is already prepared
(atm it doesn't, TpChannel even prepare CORE on its connection as part
of TpChannel's CORE feature).

[Bug 872429] Re: No keyboard layout text in gnome-session-fallback

Works fine on Precise now, so somewhere along the road it was fixed.
Marking as invalid though because I'm not sure which package fixed it.

[Bug 1018031] [NEW] No launcher for gnome-session-properties in applications menu

2012-06-26 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:

Hello,

It's maybe not a bug but with Ubuntu Precise (and Quantal) it's not possible to
launch gnome-session-properties (aka: "Startup Applications") from the
applications menu simply because its .desktop file contains that:
   NoDisplay=true

Is it possible to modify this value because it's not possible to easily
launch this GUI? (e.g. from a Cairo-Dock session, this launcher is not
available from the Applications Menu applet due to this
'NoDisplay=true')

If it's feature and not a bug, sorry for this bug report but can I just
know why?

[Bug 995189] Re: Ejecting network drive causes nautilus to close

2012-06-26 Thread Sutram
It took me a while to get back to my ubuntu computer.

Anyway, there is no error when I start nautilus from the command line.
It just closes. This actually happens even if the drive is a USB drive.
Pressing the eject button for the USB drive completely closes nautilus.
I would expect just the drive to be unmounted and the drive icon to go
away.

Thanks.

that adding a new option may break existing users who are using self-
signed certs. We may want to default to accepting invalid certs in the
security update.

[Bug 1016846] Re: Empathy Call depends on libcheese, but dependency is not aknowledged by package

2012-06-26 Thread Vasco Alves
I see. Well, that's the thing, it IS working for me with that lib
installed, and I thought the call UI had a hard dependency on it, so I
figured it WAS built with cheese support. In that case, this seems to me
a bug in its own right. Now that clutter will be on the CD, would there
be support for me filing a bug to get it back in main, so we could get
the full Empathy functionality?

[Bug 893851] Re: Brightness adjustment gauge in gnome-control-center screen not responding to brightness hot-keys

2012-06-26 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
** Description changed:

- For systems equipped with hot keys to adjust screen brightness, the
- brightness gauge in "gnome-control-center screen" is not responding to
- brightness hot-key actions.
+ [Impact]
+ Using brightness hotkeys currently changes brightness correctly, but such
changes fail to be visible in the gnome-control-center UI; which leads to
confusion and unpredictable behavior if the brightness is then adjusted using
UI in the same session.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1) Open gnome-control-center (power indicator -> System Settings...)
+ 2) Switch to "Brightness and Lock"
+ 3) Use the brightness hotkeys to adjust screen brightness
+ 4) Observe slider behavior.
+
+ Without the patch the slider should not move.
+ With the patch, slider should follow brightness adjustments done via hot keys.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal risk. The slider does not currently follow key brightness
adjustments. Possible regression scenarios could include the slider no longer
responding or changing brightness when interacting with it; or more confusion
in mixing up hot key and slider brightness adjustments.
+
+
+ For systems equipped with hot keys to adjust screen brightness, the
brightness gauge in "gnome-control-center screen" is not responding to
brightness hot-key actions.

warnings are showed.

[Bug 914578] Re: nautilus failed retrieve samba shared folders from windows 12.04

2012-06-26 Thread svaens
I am able to connect to a windows share drive,
i.e., in nautilus, typing smb://zeus
gives me the following error: "Could not display "smb://zeus/".
Error failed to retrieve share list from server. Please select another viewer
and try again.

while the following works: smb://zeus/D
(where D is the name of the share) .

Unable to browse share drives available for a particular host.
This I could do on my Ubuntu 10.10 system,
now in upgrading to 12.04, it is broken.

I've attempted various work-arounds found via google search and failed,
including:

1. install winbind
2. add wins to the hosts list in the nsswitch.conf file
3. uncomment name resolve configuration in smb.conf file (name resolve order =
bcast host lmhosts wins )
4. add various lines to smb.conf file
client lanman auth = Yes
lanman auth = Yes

None worked for me..

[Bug 727660] Re: The panel encountered a problem while loading... on a live session

2012-06-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
I've uploaded a SRU candidate for proposed as well

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: gnome-panel
+ Impact: some applets fail to load sometimes on login
+
+ Test Case:
+ log into gnome classic and make sure your applets are correctly loading
+
+ Regression potential: the applets could not load as they should
+
+ ---

ISO Testing Natty Alpha3, booting in a live session I get errors about
Applet Loading. While reporting I'm having «The panel encountered a
problem while loading "TrashAppletFactory::TrashApplet" » but in a
previous boot I got error on notification area applet.
