[Bug 854833] Re: NetworkManager forgets wireless password
> Is this still a problem in Precise? On Precise, I'm seeing a problems that look like at least some of the reports here (and also bug #877803, which looks very similar but isn't yet linked). Here's a verbose "me too"; the salient features are: * After a WiFi connection has been dropped or had trouble connecting due to marginal signal, Network Manager forgets the password. ** This can happen pretty frequently when I connect to a network at the edge of its range. ** (I'd independently formulated a theory similar to one in bug #877803, that NM should "only update the keyring after successfully authenticating to the wireless network". I haven't checked for basis in fact though.) * Once this has happened, NM never remembers a passphrase entered to connect to a network, even if authentication is then successful. Going into "Edit Connections" and entering the passphrase there causes it to be remembered (until the next time there's a connection problem). * I don't have "available to all users" checked for the connection. ** This is deliberate; I want the wireless credentials stored in the (encrypted) home directory, rather than on the root filesystem. So the workaround given isn't useful for me. This all matches symptoms reported previously. This is quite annoying. If there's any other information I can provide to help get this fixed, please shout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/854833 Title: NetworkManager forgets wireless password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/854833/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

No. indicator-appmenu was not installed. I just installed it now and restarted and the menu is there! I think that fixed the problem! [Bug 1020759] Re: /run/media is an unnecessary divergence from the FHS
Steve, not sure you are subscribed to the upstream bug, it got closed NOTABUG, I copy the comment here "The motivation for moving out of /media was that with /media any user can access the filesystem that your user mounts. Which obviously is highly undesirable on multi-user systems. Originally we wanted to use $XDG_USER_RUNTIME_DIR and for a while we did that, see http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=502fb5b7810afb50e48354e6b4d1781d07f79e10 but shortly determined that it was racy (it's never a good idea for a system daemon to write to a directory controlled by untrusted users) so we ended up using /run/media instead: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=502fb5b7810afb50e48354e6b4d1781d07f79e10 (OTOH, if you really want all users to access a device, you simply just add an /etc/fstab entry. We now have API in udisks and UI in GNOME Disks for this.) > violating the expectations of experienced users and possibly > breaking user scripts / symlinks. Just FYI, it's pretty fragily to rely on udisks just this or that name in /media in the first place so I don't think any "experienced user" would do this. If you need a predictable mount point, you need to use /etc/fstab or mount the device yourself through another mechanism. Or, better, fix your software and/or scripts to figure out the mount point itself by looking at things like /proc/self/mountinfo use lsblk(8) or whatever. > Please fix udisks to move its mounts back to /media." There is nothing to "fix" here so closing NOTABUG." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020759 Title: /run/media is an unnecessary divergence from the FHS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/udisks/+bug/1020759/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1021274] [NEW] Second massive file is not burnt to DVD - never added to project
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: * Running Ubuntu 12.04, brasero 3.4.1-0ubuntu1, nautilus 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu3 * Insert blank DVD * Open blank DVD in Nautilus * Drag two files each > 2GiB into DVD window * Click "Write to Disc" * Receive query about one file > 2GiB * Select "Always Add Such A File" to go ahead with third version of ISO9660 * Select Burn What should happen? Two files are burnt to DVD. What happens instead? Only one file is burnt to DVD. Notes Reproduced this using Brasero interface. Dragged two massive files into empty Brasero data project at the same time. Received query about one file, selected "Always Add Such A File". Only queried file was added. [Bug 704232] Re: can´t resize ¨side pane¨
Indeed, the bug was re-introduced. Here is what I *think* happened. Bug shows in 2.32. Evince folks make the sidepane horizontally scrollable (GtkScrolledWindow with hscrollpolicy to ALWAYS or AUTOMATIC), which in turns allows the GtkIconView to be resized accordingly. Later people complain about this unsightly horizontal scrollbar that is always present (all the more visible thanks to bug: #990228, which puts too much padding space around the thumbnails). hscrollbar policy is set to NEVER but this has the side effect that when resizing the sidepane down, the GtkIconView used to display the thumbnails sets the minimal width and prevent its container from being sized down. Public outrage ensues. I've attached two patches to the original bug-report. The first one only fixes this issue. The second one also fixes #990228 (upstream:671691) at the same time. Please test and report your findings in the upstream bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704232 Title: can´t resize ¨side pane¨ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/704232/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
